- Constipation as an integral part of the Irritable Bowel Syndrome refers to fewer than 3 weekly bowel movements and may be associated with abdominal pain. A recently approved and of course obscenely expensive drug, Linzess, seems to stimulate the bowels so well that it either causes diarrhea in as many as 1 in 5 people or results in only modest symptom improvement in others. Of course the drug company’s copay card shields the patient, but not the insurance company, until next year’s premium increase.
I'm one of the people for whom Linzess has worked. I've been taking it for 4 years now. It is hugely effective as long as I adhere to a strict daily routine. I've learned that if I do not take it at the same time every day, it will not work as well. It's saved my life.
Does it cause dependency sister?
It's took 3 months before I seen any results but I'm going without laxatives now

I took this before and it worked like a champ. I stopped and I have been suffering chronic constipation. Not going sometimes for days and over a week. I am starting my Linzess again and I will not stop. It’s no fun being miserable. I attribute my problem started after my gallbladder was removed. At first I had chronic diarrhea, and then it turned into chronic constipation with bouts of diarrhea here and there. If anybody reads this that has to have gallbladder surgery, if I could go back I would ask them to remove the stones and leave my gallbladder intact.

I could not go at all. I mean weeks , took MiraLAX it worked for a good year but I had to take it every night. Linzess has saved me. I can go everyday !!! No stomach distention , nooo BLOATING ! It so far is for me
Help! I have a similar problem...I could go 3 weeks with nothing and have had to take laxatives everyweekend, which became less effective. I've been on linzess for about 10 days and am ready to die! I feel like I am compounding the problem and have just been able to take liquids and skip solids...how long did it take you for it to work? i'm on the highest dose.

My entire colon is completely impacted and I just started this medication yesterday for hours after taking my first dose of 290 MCG‘s I pooped water for hours. No cramping but that diarrhea was terrible. Yes I need to clean out my system but I also have to go to work and I cannot work pooping water every five seconds.

If you have Vic or I s c, your entire colon wouldn’t be impacted, Little if any. Have you been tested for slow transit constipation?

I have had GREAT success with this. No pain no constant going. I would suggest this to anyone who has real issues. I do suggest that you drink plenty of fruit/vegetable juice and water before and after taking.

Thanks for posting this video it explained a lot dodged a bullet and was prescribed something that helped me out.
My doctor put me on linzess for my IBS-C and I absolutely knew this wasn't going to work for me and sure enough.. it has not.. I can't take it every day.. the only days that I am able to take it is when I have absolutely nothing to do because of the diarrhea I experience from it. I will say that I have increased my daily fiber intake (including a fiber supplement) and I now have more complete bowl movements and pretty much all of my symptoms of IBS-C have cleared up on their own. I have regular movements now. And that is without linzess' assistance.

Linzess works great. I go from like concrete in two hours the bottom falls out. I have to make sure I have a bathroom in close proximity.

35yrs I've suffered an nothing else worked,this drug is brilliant...update....after just over a year,they no longer work an more side affects I didn't know about so I had to come off them 😢
Iam wondering if your stomach is flat Or do you experiencing abdominal distension? I know I have problems with intestinal muscle movement :)

This year,I read some pretty bad stuff about these drugs.
At first my stomach was flat but over time,it started bloating an trapped wind was so painful,this I thought were the pills doing their job but they were causing it cos now that's gone.

@@angiemacslilmitesanmore5090 I work alot with probiotics, currently thinking about fecal transplantation. I read more and more about Gut microbiota-motility interregulations. After two years I would do anything to reset to status quo.

Would there be an indication to use Linzess or Trulance in place of miralax daily? Or would you only suggest trying these medications if miralax stops working?
Mine is so bad my dear told me to take linzess with miralax. Before linzess it was just MiraLAX and it stopped working linzess works btw I eat a good diet and exercise daily as well.

I was given this medication. Even at 72mcg, it's like a whole bowel prep in a single pill. I mean I'm pooping clear water by the end of the day. One dose makes me poop like 6 or 7 times throughout the day. I won't need to refill this prescription for years.
Makes my insides sound like a water hose has been turned on , very strange feeling.
Drink a glass of orange juice about 2 hours after taking linzess you can thank me later

I have changed to a high fiber diet, get moderate wxercise, use a laxetive, and have taken 290 mg. Linzess for months now. I'm not sure it has helped me and if it does only marginally. Based on your report I'll use the remainder of this month's prescription and stop. Thank you.

Yes, he was a dermatologist. Was on tv too. He was my dr also.
Our 37 year old son has cerebral palsy and has had severe constipation and Lizness has worked well. Other laxatives such has miralax etc. haven't worked nearly as well as this drug. No side effects.
Miralax is not a laxative... it's a stool softener which is completely different.
I tried it it works very well for me, but now I'm pregnant, I want to know if I can still use it once or twice a week. Does it cause any birth defects etc ?
No don't take any constipation medication when your pregnant that is highly warned

Been on linzess for IBS-C and I can't take it much longer, makes me so bloated and uncomfortable the whole day, gives me diarrhea and to me that's not living. Learning to incorporate a healthy diet, and active lifestyle.
Been on it for 5 years now. And for me, its a way out for them, to not have to look and actualy see whats wrong. As i have the unknown variety of IBS. What could be fixed medicaly, posebly? But my insurance will not cover it. Without a slue of treatments that makes them money. With no garentee they will acted on what they find out.
I feel on a wedge of ice on the roud. That was pushed up by car wheels when it was thoghed out. Mite as well been a battle axe up the crack. For as hard as I hit it.
Because of it? I have seen hell on earth. Cant force anything. And life is now one big rueteen every day.

None of it bothers me as much as the fact I was going to wait in life for more wisdom. Before I made my big jump into life with both feet. And have tried against it all? To believe there would be some fix. As I know there is one. Just going to have to somehow figure out how to aford it on my own. Even if its just a colosphipy bag I get? I will still able to rock this world. Im a inventor. And in that I can invent anything but a way out of my current predicament. As I still think big. But big ideas takes more than a invention to drive them to success. As I will not have it taken from me. What would happen if I try as I am.

Im a dreamer. I do not fear death. And all I did fear? Has already come to pass in life. And this is just the poor me speeking. I have seen many incredable things in life also. But what value are they? If I die alone with never sharing them. As I do try. But the missery always gets in my way of clearly speeking to anyone. And its not pain' I want to share with others.

they say not to give it to a child this age and then they say do not give it to a child this other age ! why not just say do not give this to anyone under the age of 18 ? their commercial does not make sense
Because some extreme cases it's used on children over 6, but it's rare because you do not want their bodies to become dependant to evacuate their systems. Their insides are still growing at this point.

I like he’s honesty 😂 and yes the pill it’s very expensive I know a good diet with lots of veggies included does work natural but some of us are not discipline on our eating habits we eat like nothing is wrong with us and that’s what causes chronic stress in out gut we know better we just like to suffer
I tried the "right foods" for a year with no pain relief at all. Totally hindered my life which was pretty active. So my doctor recommended this drug 2 years ago. It has changed my life. Totally.

All I can tell you in my experience for the past 45 years of couple from today freshmy life dealing with IBS constipation with excessive gas it's terrible I know what you're going through all I can suggest is try for one month in your proteins if you can eat eggs just eat the white, proteins pork tenderloin very little fat content vegetables fresh produce a lot of gas for me so I stay away as well as any legumes which higher in fiber high in protein but produce a lot of gas depends on you if can incorporate beans whatever Lima kidney whatever your favorite might be you can try those your favorite type of fruits whatever that might be I started taking linzess four weeks ago and it helps but there are consequences for instance he can build a little gas I will go the next morning but it comes out liquidy all light tomato purée don't mean to be graphic but that's the way it is it is helping but it's not the perfect solution but it beats taking sorry for my typos and the other part of the diet I would stay away from high starch food you know potatoes rice because they just turn to sugar not good for a high-fiber high protein diet it gets to be so complicated aru try mixing it up to get a solution our regiment and stick with it believe me I know the feeling and drinking plenty of water also if you can eat greens without getting cramps are excessive gas then broccoli is a great vegetable as long as you are not on Coumadin feel free if I've missed any details I really wish I could help I really feel for you I've been suffering since the age of 20 and now I'm 63 and it's just continuous so hang in there if I've missed any details any questions feel free I will try to come up with some kind of a solution over 40 years experience on I still haven't got this figured out what a journey to hell and back anyway I hope you find peace I'm not very familiar with Crohn's disease but I know it's not pleasant have a good night

As others have said, go with Trulance. It works well and gets you normal with no side effects. 👍👍
I've actually had no side effects from linzess...been on it for almost 2 months and only had some diarrhea for a week or 2 in the beginning. but now it's all normal mostly and I've been living a normal life again lol

@Aamir Ansari I would suppose on the damage that was done and how long it lasted but I took it for a month then I started taking a dandelion tea that I make, I'll also mix some of their leaves in a salad. Seems to be doing really good, I cut down on drinking all sodas and carbonated drinks and stopped eating all Monsanto made foods.
No fast food and no garbage candy.
I watch everything I put in my body now which for me might have been easier for most people because we'd have to stick to a certain diet before grappling tournaments so it might seem difficult at first but after a while the cravings for junk food actually does go away.
Your body gets cleaned out and you just have to watch the food especially in America where there food and drugs they sell actually work to profit the FDA industry.
Now don't get me wrong, some people have to take this medicine their whole lives but the medicine itself did work for me and best of all it's safe.
7yrs and nothing else they tried worked, fired like 5 wannabe GI doctors before actually finding a real doctor.
Also another reason I found out can be an issue for people is the nerve that runs from your spine can make you have a lot of GI issues especially if you've been seeing a GI for years and they can't find there issue it's almost a 90% rate that it has to do with your back or your neck.

@@notebook2876 I got a cat scan and Xrays to see what was going on with my stomach because I kept having this burning dull pain on the left of my stomach and sometimes middle that would stay for about a week. They couldn't find why this was happening to me as everything looked normal. Then I looked at your comment and saw the last paragraph. My back has been hurting for a while; especially when I sit in a chair for long periods of times. Maybe that could be the reason why I'm having these stomach problems? What do you recommend I should do? Do you think I should take physical therapy for my back/neck? Ty
@@alyssarasmussen1723 I would see a neurologist, I finally did since posting this and I have to go to mayo clinic in Rochester Minnesota..
My neurologist said I have autonomic so I'll be going up there for testing. It's a nerve issue so I would definitely go see a neurologist that deals in head neck spine.

Believe it or not I've been doing my calisthenics in the morning and at night everyday which also has been helping, a simple routine of 50 push ups, 50 sit ups and 50 pull ups or you can do curls as well if pull ups aren't a strong suit for you, I do that in the morning and at night, haven't needed linzess since. The drug did work don't get me wrong but if I can do the exercises and not take a chemical drug then I'm all for it however if the exercises make it worse then stop because you could be doing more damage to the nerve than goood if that ends up being the case, most doctors can't pick that up because it's not on their kindergarten chart they read from. I actually went to a very good GI and he recommended a neurologist and that's how they found it, 1 last thing if your insurance is an HMO get a ppo because Obama care is completely useless if you need real care outside of your area which in my case all the tests I need are outside my area. Obama care really screwed up health care in America.

@@samahf1669 No, it was overall but I've since discovered after 12 years what the problems are. I've been diagnosed with 4 Autoimmune Diseases and IgG4-RD is one of them. Also I am on pain medication which adds to this issue of needing Linzess. I've found different methods to help with the issue though. Thank you

Its devil drug poison me badly. Server dehydratioand nauseated and high blood pressure. All my body's fluid gone. Been sick 5 d a ys.
More fiber? Fiber hardens the stool even more.
Fiber helps to pull water into the bowels and retains water to help soften the stool.
wonderhow many of you all made a valid long term effort to reverse this naturally.
