Hey Kevin, I've had 23 Platinum PB BAP for about a month now and have found a few things also on the build quality! Worn out driver seat edge, ordered a new one from Ford, also factory paint drips as well as a few dirt spots under the paint & clear coat, passenger door armrest has almost like little star cracklings under the material like its dry cracked as well as notches in the headrest and steering wheel insert, the bed tray doesn't fit correctly besides that a few other things like Ford removing some items from the F150 this year that the dealership and I failed to educate themselves on! I really do love it and I'm glad that I was able to order it!! Great videos🤙🏼🤙🏼
Great Top 5 Kevin! Appreciate the context (you like the truck overall) and all the insights. Also love the movie inserts! Thanks for all your F-150 videos!!
Thanks very much for watching and commenting, Benjamin. I appreciate you taking the time to say something nice! In some of my more recent videos I’ve stopped including the clips, but glad you like the ones on this video!
Agree on most. Haven’t noticed any fit and finish issues on mine and I like the ride. I would add that I wish the selected drive mode would stay put rather than reverting to Normal every time and I wish I could select the parking brake to set automatically every time I park, but all in all, I’m very happy with my Lariat 502A.
Thanks for sharing. I agree, those two things should be something you could configure. Maybe they’ll add them on future trucks? Glad to hear you’re liking your truck!
Why didn't you buy a RAM? I picked up #1 of 3, F-150 XLT's (Powerboost) two weeks ago as work trucks and we opted for the 302A High package. First, the ride is awesome. We do haul trailers and I have watched lots of critiques about coil vs leaf springs and I ain't buying it. If you want a car...buy a car. Second, we spent all day yesterday at a job site and our Makita radio crapped out so we opened the doors of the truck and listened to it all day. It sounded great. This is not a home theater set up lol...and with the power at half, it is clear with more bass than you could ever want. I do agree the antenna is too tall and will replace them for $32 on Amazon. We chose to get cloth seats and Clazzio seat covers for $499. They protect the original seats and frankly they are really nice looking factory fit seat covers. In fact, you would think they were factory. Overall (and early in the cycle) we are extremely happy with these trucks. P.S. We also got the 7.2 kw generators and had 9 battery chargers going all day at the job site and it was awesome...instead of worrying about charging batteries at the end of the day...we just kept cycling them thru. What a time saver and great feature.
I liked the Powerboost technology with the inverter, so wouldn’t buy a Ram unless it had a better hybrid option. The one they have now is barely a hybrid, more of an electric assist and no generator mode. Plus, I didn’t want a car, I wanted a truck, LOL! Agree to disagree on the coil/leaf spring debate. I test drove the Ram and Ford on the same day, over the same terrain (dealerships are on the same road), and there’s a difference for sure. Like I said in the video, I’d be surprised if Ford didn’t go all coil springs on the next Gen F150, as they are already there on the Lightning. Thanks for sharing your experience in detail, sounds like you use your truck for more “trucky”things than me!
Ride quality is distinctly better says everyone everywhere with the coil springs on the ram. And when the antenna is concerned you look at a generic truck that's built to a price point with a goofy whip antenna from the 1950s versus a ram who has it engineered into the back window. Yes it's more expensive. But that's the difference between the two trucks where one is built with technology and the other one is built to a price point
i’m with you on the towing numbers, no way anyone should ever be pushing the limits like that on a light weight truck, they seem to make some weird decisions based on getting higher numbers for bragging rights rather than realistic safe numbers.
Hey Kevin....I bought a 2022 F150 Power Boost in Feb of 2023 and just got it back after 4 months in the shop for transmission issues RE; a hard shift in electric mode while stopped the dealer replaced the Aux transmission oil pump and then the module proceeded to change the transmission. Apparently, the transmission 10R80 is very problematic with these same issues, as clutch packs and seals. Bad valve body casting is made in China with substandard metal castings that cause the solenoids to stick. Ford is aware of this and is trying to resolve this issue. But if your vehicle is off warranty it's your $9700 to replace it.
Yikes. Hopefully yours was still under warranty. I was at least lucky all my issues were taking place under warranty. I appreciate you sharing your experience and hope your issues stay fixed.
So the reason they stopped led bulbs from factory for the plate area, is because LEDs pulse on camera. If it’s a night shot you have a higher rate of not getting the license plate in the shot. That’s my guess🤷♂️
Full agreement with your dislikes. The antenna is a couple of inches shorter than my previous three F-150 antennas and the 2022 antenna actually clears my garage door, so it is an improvement but there are still better solutions. My leather on the seats is a bit better fit than yours so that is truck dependent. I agree the next iteration will likely get rid of the rear leaf springs, though I don't notice the ride so much since this is my 4th F-150 (5th counting the one I had back in the 80's before I had kids) and I think it is somewhat better than my previous ones. I do miss the folding headrests that my previous trucks had.
Ross, thanks for sharing this. It’s great to have a perspective from someone like yourself who has owned several trucks. This is my first truck, so the ride may not have even made my list had I owned other trucks before this. Thanks for the detailed information on the antenna, that’s interesting that it used to be even higher. Also, glad to hear your leather has a good fit. Mine isn’t terrible at all, but I did notice a few spots and figured I’d nitpick. I still really love the color of the seats and overall the seats are very comfy. I appreciate the comment as always!
The B&O Speaker and overall stereo on my Lariat is terrible. Upgraded speaker option but not the mega system upgrade. The center dash speaker overwhelms the whole system and makes it seem like I'm in a 1970's truck with one speaker.
Rob, thanks for sharing this. I totally agree the B&O system isn’t great. My wife had a B&O system in her last car that was awesome but they could’ve done way better here. It’s like they just threw together the cheapest system they could and slapped the B&O name on it. I don’t have the B&O unleashed, just the regular B&O, but I’ve even heard that system isn’t perfect. I appreciate the comment and you watching!
I have a 21 502A Lariat and have noticed that FM radio seems to go into weak signal "mono" from HD surround more often in hilly areas than other recent vehicles (2019 Ram Rebel, 2018 Subaru Outback, 2007 Toyota Highlander, etc) do on same exact station. That big antenna seems like it would perform better and not worse. It sure bows back at highway speeds from air drag. Love truck overall at 6500 miles and full year.
Nice! Glad you’re loving the truck, Jim! I don’t really listen to the radio, usually just Spotify through CarPlay, so haven’t really tested it’s capabilities for reception quite yet. Thanks for the comment!
I ordered the 2022 Powerboost F150 Lariat with the Carbonized Grey with blackout package but the mirrors (I have the bigger truck extendable mirrors) have chrome caps on them when you'd think it should have been black (No chrome elsewhere because of the package i picked) or even better body colored to match. When the order was placed I had wanted the retractable running boards but adding the blackout package put the fixed black running boards (did it when I initially built it out online) and when the Dealer put in the order I didn't catch that it did the same for them. It's something I can change out later but still attention to details. I agree the wireless charger was kind of a waste because if your phone is using carplay it can't keep up (I have an iphone 13), but if you place another iPhone not connected to carplay it charges just fine without warming it up. I ended up placing a phone holder higher up that does the wireless charging that I ran a USB C cable down into that pocket and even with carplay on it doesn't heat up and keeps the phone fully charged. I'm waiting for some kind of after market ability to hold the center console open versus it slamming down on your arm when you try to grab something out of it, sure I saw another UA-camr do a hack where he dismantled it and put some washers that made the springs have more tension to slow the closure. I have the work surface so I'm sure that adds additional weight but still should be better tension.
Hey Greg! I love your comment. Thanks for taking the time to go into such detail. It’s very helpful to me and all who read it. Yeah, I agree the mirror with chrome on a blackout package shouldn’t be a thing. I think I saw the same video with that hack you were talking about. Thanks again! I truly appreciate you taking the time to post.
I watched ur video all way through..I like the little funny videos throughout . I like your style, I like your moves. Looking to get a truck for first time
@@cryptopimp5855 I personally wouldn’t get anything but the powerboost in an F150, because of the fuel economy and the 7.2kw pro power feature are too cool to pass up. A 5.0L might sound better but likely wont get the same MPG. As for longevity, time will tell as to how it will do. I’ve seen other videos of 2021 PB owners who have over 60,000 miles without issue.
I’m bummed to hear that wireless charger is not all that great. I also paid 150 or so bucks for this option and was really looking forward to it especially with the wireless CarPlay, oh well… lol. Good pints on the rear suspension. No light duty modern truck should come with the archaic leaf spring setup. Towing numbers are just a bogus to me. I traded in my 2019 Ram 1500 5.7L for a 2022 F-150 Powerboost and have been very happy with my decision. There is definitely more power and way better gas milage due to the hybrid system. I also found that the handling is better in the F-150, we drive on hilly and twisting roads and the F-150 takes the roads much better. My family claims there is more room in the back seat though I am not sure. The add capability of the 7.2 kw generator is amazing. I ran my camper off the generator for several hours and it used very little fuel. I agree that antiquated antenna is an issue but I replaced it with a 7.5 inch after market antenna to improve the look. Finally, the integrated step in the tailgate. At first I thought is was dumb and I would not use it but after almost two months of owner ship I am very glad its there. Finding things I don't like about the truck is difficult but there are two things that are terrible. The chime while in reverse and the double honk when you get out and close the door while the truck is running. There should be options to turn these off. In the Ram you had the option to turn off the horn but from my research I found that you have to change codes in the computer to do this in the F-150. Other than that I love it. Thanks for the video!
Hey Marlene! Thanks very much for your in-depth comment! That’s a great perspective on the handling from someone who actually owned a Ram prior to making the switch to an F150! As I mentioned I only test drove a Ram, so my time with it was very brief. I don’t mind the chime in reverse, only because there are always lots of kids running around my neighborhood and it makes me feel a little safer. The double honk though is annoying, and I believe you’re right that you need to get one of those devices that messes with the truck’s programming to get rid of it. Thanks again for watching and commenting, it’s very much appreciated!
@@omardevonlittle3817 I have to disagree. The F150 is by far a much better handling truck. I used it to tow my camper for the first time this past weekend. A much better experience that with the 2019 Ram 1500 (don't get me wrong, the Ram was a nice upgrade over the 2014 Jeep Wrangler for towing). I did enjoy the Ram but still love the new F150.
Just saw a Lariat Powerboost on a dealer’s lot last week with an MSRP of 75,300. Believe it had a sunroof and max towing package. That dissuaded me from looking at it any closer.
I have a F-150 Powerboost also and I'm not a fan of the first to third gear shift. Maybe it just my F-150 transmission only doing the second gear skip. Even when heavy traffic with slow acceleration it skips second gear but will eventually downshift to second while decelerating to a lower speed in traffic. Have anyone else have notice their F-150 Powerboost transmission second gear skip?
Yes there are many who don’t like this, but I know it’s an intentional thing Ford did. It doesn’t bother me, but I can listen to music on a crappy radio and be happy, so never have had the sensitivity for such things. I do understand why you would be frustrated with that though. Thanks for the comment!
@@michaeljordan6090 if you see some of my future videos I ended up having to sell the F150 due to ongoing issues. I’m now in a 23 Colorado ZR2. I might eventually get back into an F150, because I like it better than the Colorado, but it’d have to be a Lariat, and the price may be too high for me. I’d say check the carfax on the 22 Lariat to see how many times it was serviced.
My biggest dislike the perforated leather seats They are awesome but you do not want to spill anything especially coffee it’s sort of like a sponge even though you don’t think it’s soaks in it does and it’s a nightmare to get it out this is my first truck with leather I always had cloth seats and I put leather seat covers on top of them so when I got leather I was like no more worries of anything but that’s nothing against ford its just the way it is with the perforated leather .
Ugh, I hadn’t thought about that. Knock on wood, I haven’t spilled liquid on them yet, but I can see how that’d be a mess, especially with the ventilation in the seats. Thanks for sharing your dislike!
I’ll take your word for it. I’m a new truck owner and someone who doesn’t tow. Just giving my humble opinion. Thanks for the comment, it helps to have many perspectives on the topic.
I traded in my 2021 ram 5.7 warlock 1500 for my 2021 f150 powerboost. One reason and one reason only. Fuel mileage. Yes the powerboost gets hands down the best mileage of all the half ton pickups on the market. Not even a competition. The ram drives on the highways much nicer. The ram drives more like a car. That said. It’s a truck. He ford is what is expected. The ford powerboost has the most power and fuel mileage in its class. It’s a no brainer.
It’s night and day. Ram trucks take corners at much faster speeds with ease. The f150 does not. If u look up on the visor the f150 has a roll over warning for a reason. The rams do not. Lol
Thanks for the comment Darrell. There’s definitely pros to both trucks, but in the days of high gas prices it’s nice to have the one with the better MPG. If the F150 PB gets coil springs like the Lightning, it’d be the perfect light duty truck IMO. Thanks again!
Glad you’re enjoying the Ram. I would’ve liked a Rebel, but MPG is way better on the Powerboost so I decided to go that route. Oil consumption so far for me has been nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks for the comment.
Sorry to hear you had that issue, but thanks for sharing your experience. Hoping that’s not the case for me but I know that anything is possible these days!
I wouldn’t buy a truck with coil springs you talk a ride buy a car coil don’t last long we are constantly replacing them at work. F1 50s hook a trailer up all day. It doesn’t sag as much is a raft and ask for a ride. It’s a truck. I’ve been driving trucks for 60 years now I don’t want to ride like a car. I want to be a truck. I want to put weight in the back of it. I want to toe with it rims feel like engine replacement transmission replacement pick up and replacement fine and repairs. They keep mechanics very rich we are going back to forge because of all the profits Rams have you keep the ram with a nice ride I’ll keep the F150 with the harder ride but at least I have a dependable truck. Have a good day. Thank you.
Thanks for the great comment, Chuck! Always good to hear from someone with many years of experience! There is definitely something cool about trucks and their truck like suspensions. I believe with years of research and engineering innovations, they’ll try and find ways to bridge the gap between durability, towing capability and comfort. Thanks again for the comment!

@@KevinExclamationPoint 0.99% for 72 months helps.
@@clearcut6818 that’s a great interest rate these days. I was 1.79% at 60.
In Uruguay you pay USD 95k for the 2022 Lariat Fx4 :(
Yikes! That’s super expensive!
Thee 10r80 skipping shifts both up and down is part of the programming
Yes there are many who don’t like this, but I know it’s an intentional thing Ford did. It doesn’t bother me, but I can listen to music on a crappy radio and be happy, so never have had the sensitivity for such things. I do understand why you would be frustrated with that though. Thanks for the comment!
Do you still like it, my local dealer has 22 lariat with only 13600 on it, reasonably priced
@@KevinExclamationPoint thank you, they also have on with 5.0 and that’s the way I am leaning
@@michaeljordan6090 probably a way more reliable option at this point.
Good point
More towing>>> ride comparison you can barely tell the difference.
@@Klipnotica Yeah, I’ve caught myself cornering in sport mode in some situations where I was going a bit too fast and it can be scary.
had many f-150 trucks and my 19 was the last one ever... drank oil so traded it in on my first Ram and couldn't be happier ..
Glad you’re enjoying the Ram. I would’ve liked a Rebel, but MPG is way better on the Powerboost so I decided to go that route. Oil consumption so far for me has been nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks for the comment.
@@KevinExclamationPoint 😁
Let me guess. 5.0?
@@02hreblue30 no
Give it some time, and you'll be adding the transmission to that list of dislikes.
Why do you say that? Do you have problems with your transmission?
@@KevinExclamationPoint Replaced under warranty at 26k. Don't worry. You probably got some time before you get there.
Oh, oh, oh, Jamie's cryin' I've got a 2022 Lariat Powerboost and its as tough as a tank, comfortable as a luxury car and quick as a sport car. 1/3 of my driving...I'm burning 0 gas. 5 can sit comfortably and I can carry tons of stuff and tow 12000 pounds. Yeah...the wireless charger is meh and I popped in $40 plate lights but....the machine is solid.....and MUCH better than a Dodge. Cmon Karen ...get your Ram 🐏 ....you'll miss your F150 once you hand them the keys.
1/3 electric miles? There is no way that’s possible. Share a pic of your trip computer that shows the lifetime electric miles, and I’ll believe it. Cmon Daren.
Wireless charging pad. Every vehicle stinks. Mine in Hyundai. Phone is hot hot hot. I use the cord. Problem solved
I still use the wireless charger because of wireless Apple CarPlay, just wish it was better.
