Life in Saudi Arabia is like any European or American country, but without alcohol, without street gangs, without gambling, without prostitution, and without nudity.
You can leave your car unlocked without your door or door being stolen. Also, there are no murders or thefts
Here the people are more social and concerned with family unity, assistance, service provision and hospitality. I say, welcome among your brothers

    Hello, Pete! :'D
First of all, Happy Saudi Founding Day! It's 2024 :')
So happy to find this video. And admiring you for your confession about the "elitist mentality" you had before.
Very much YES on when you talked about being nice and humble.
Expats talk down (belittle) the Saudi people, and it is so annoying to say the least.
We were given the opportunity to live and work here, let's give some respect to the people and the places.
And contribute, learn, engage with them.
I read this in a comic book (nerd alert! :'p):
"It is not for me to tell you what to do. I will say, though, that you, like all of God's children, have a responsibility to the piece of the world entrusted to you.
    That is your greatness."

When you rent a car, it will have comprehensive insurance against accidents, so you pay somewhat reasonable insurance fees. There are many rental companies and the offers vary and are many. You can browse their websites and choose the appropriate one, or seek help from public service offices when you do not know where to get an item from or how. Do you do it? Born in Tunisia in April 14 1998, and grown up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from August 25 1999 until October 14 2023, when I first came there, the religious fanatic mindset was out of control, and I spent my education years from kinder Garten until grade 6 (2002 till 2010), yet went back to Saudi Arabia in September 2016 to restart grade 12 in local school after my failure of the 6 year I spent in my home country (grade 7 to grade 12, which is 2010 to 2016), I seem desperate for moving to a destination that matches my mindset/soul and I do not think I am returning to that city anytime soon, instead, I would move on to different destination. Society of Saudi Arabia is a capitalism in a name of Islam, I am an anti-capitalist, I better off to settle in a tight Knott community, instead of competitive vibe, also, consumerism is invading Saudi Arabia, especially when sales are detected, with food consumerism being the most dominant type of consumerism, resulting in obesity epidemic, people in Saudi Arabia (especially Riyadh) commonly overeat in order to fill the emptiness, as a distraction from the misery of life. People are conditioned to try to fill their void with consumerism after all, and that includes food, but this doesn't work and only leads to flat pleasures, dissatisfaction and grouchy faces. Eating healthy in Saudi Arabia costs alot. One has to go to health food stores and pay higher prices to eat organic. Only those who are well off can afford that. This is not right. Healthy food should be available to all. Most people spend their days sitting in offices and driving cars, so they don't get enough exercise and physical activity. Public transportation in Saudi arabia is not good enough and it was too late to build bused and metros, as the city of Riyadh remains car dependent followed by excessive amount of highways, so one is forced to have a car. Having to work too much also takes time away from recreation and exercise. Everyday life in Saudi Arabia is stressful and demanding, yet feels empty, boring and meaningless at the core. Saudi Arabia has also a tendency of living to work: You are expected to live to work, rather than work to live (as they do in Europe). They do not get enough vacation time off. They live like hamsters on a wheel. It defeats the purpose, thus revealing the insane working hours, especially for construction worker that came from Indian subcontinent. All that matters in Saudi Arabia is working and making money. Everything is a business. The system is too business-oriented to enjoy life. Competition is placed over cooperation.

    • @SasSas2025-nv4gp
      @SasSas2025-nv4gp 23 дні тому

If you intend to go in the summer, it is better not to go to hot areas in the summer. No one spends the summer there, even local residents. We often go out to cold areas, except for summer lovers, as they enjoy the sea at night. We have Abha, Taif, Al-Baha and other southern cities where the weather is cold in the summer and very cold in the winter and snow falls like Abha and Tabuk.

Oh I'm amazed why did you go crazy?? I regret that...but you must respect our principles...we do not like seeing women naked in the street, at work, or on the sea. You can book your own chalet and sunbathe on the sea naked. In the end, this is your private area. No one can see you. You cannot drink alcohol, so if you do not... You can do without her, so she does not come. It will be difficult for you. She can walk everywhere alone, but she must wear appropriate clothes. Perhaps your relative did not adapt and was unable to establish relationships. She remains alone at home until he returns. Yes, when you live next to people, you do not expect them to knock on the door and appear polite. A relationship with you because you lived next door. Everyone is busy with their own lives.

It is possible to live as a single woman. There are upscale residential complexes for female workers and students, in which all requirements are met, and relationships can be established with female students and employees. Also, you can live outside these complexes in family housing...and you will have no problem with anything.

@@CarloCorpuz No problem...many people live there when they want to receive their female relatives, but in singles housing it is absolutely forbidden for women to enter, even if she is your relative...and if she enters, she bears responsibility herself...meaning if she is harassed inside the building or someone flirts with her...no Someone blames the young man because she was the one who entered their private building. As for the building designated for women, it absolutely prohibits men from approaching the building and is heavily guarded to protect women’s privacy because there are Muslim women who do not wear the hijab inside and all the workers inside are women.

But your comment suggest that it could b a rare tragic incident and generally people don't have to go through all that. Actually my mom' cousin and any were kept locked in Saudia by the uncle of my mom. Years later when the returned the two women were so mentally upset that they could not even tell what happened to them. So it still remains a mystery as to what happened to those ladies. We could not go for legal action as we had no statement from the ladies as they had no answers for our questions. Strangely all the 3 male family members were mentally ok and leading normal life. We are Muslims and from Pakistan.

Or if the kidnapper is a friend and relative and they go with him willingly.. Hello Pete,
I think you need to consider other Nationalities (Arabs, Indians, Pakistanis ... etc) who come here and know that they won't get any benefits except doing "the year" and making that "big money" because they know they won't get anything more. If they spend money here they and live that year "experience" wise they know it is not their country and they won't get any nationality rights. I know you're speaking to a European/American audience but kindly consider including those also in your experience in KSA. It's a beautiful and clean country not gonna lie but more than that it's not lasting for those nationalities.

It is not permanent for everyone. Granting Saudi citizenship is almost impossible. You must offer many privileges to obtain it. As for permanent residency, you need a lot, a lot, a lot of money, and for investment you need to be a partner in a company abroad or have the financial ability to be a partner in a company. I’d agree with this and disagree at the same time.
We all hold values that are part of our identity, a lot of which are similar irrespective of where you are raised in the world. Family, generosity, kindness etc… The manifestation of them may vary though.
I think being able to appreciate this difference and being willing to learn about another culture is vital to enjoying life in a different country. Neither is right or wrong and there can be beauty in all approaches.
Openness, kindness and respect should all be universal human values.
