MunYa B It's been evident that Beats are terrible headphones: for the price, you're getting low frequency responses and terrible bass, mid, and treble mixes. The Solos are exceptionally terrible, having muddy bass and absolutely not treble. That's why it's better to save your $200 and instead by more quality headphones such as Sony's MDR-V6. However, Beats has made good changes over the year: the Studio 2s are decent in comparison all other celebrity endorsed headphones while the Solo 2s are quite exceptional for having tight bass and amazing treble clarity. Those are the only two line ups you should be considering at this time, and even then they are subpar to Audio Technicas, Sony MDRs, and other non-celebrity headphones.
Great insight on the new packaging! These are impressive headphones for monitoring and listening to music, originally from 1985. I know the Grado SR225i are a different type of headphones, although I believe they do have some similarities.
I still believe these are the best cans money can buy putting all into consideration. Very easy to drive. You don’t need a headphone amp like almost all other good cans especially HI END cans a headphone amp is a MUST!!!!! And what I hear from these “Legendary” cans sounds like B&W speakers from the mid to late 70’s early to mid 80’s. Mostly like: DM-7’s and mid 80’s 801’s. These were made (I think a lot forget this fact) were made by Sony to be a go between the cans and the monitor speakers. The sound quality was patterned after the: B&W DM-7’s/801’s. “STUDIO MONITOR”/“STUDIO MONITOR” headphones. GET IT--LMFAO. I FRAK’’n love my V-6’s & 7506’s!!!! And I own a lot of different cans and buds etc etc etc. Audio Technica 50’s to boot. Need a bit more balls outta the headphone jack to do them full justice. Love them to boot but they are heavier and not as comphy for my ears. Ok-SONY MDR-V6’s RULE!!!!!!!
At present, the starting price for Sony MDR-v6 , new, is now $300!! Fortunately - I purchased 3 of them before they became collectors items, and at MSRP (well below $100.) 2 of the three are even in original packaging. And, no - they are not for sale.
Unfortunately, the Sony MDR-V6 is now officially discontinued in 2020, so don't be surprised that various sellers would ask an astronomical price even for an "open-box" unit beyond 80 US Dollars!!!
@@basshead. unlike other segments, not many actually are making good durable closed backs under 60, the closest i can remember is CAL, and that one's changed to be worse, other than that, going up a bit will net you a Takstar Pro 82. tho really, a good deal in its price is a used M40x/ MSR7, other than those, a V6 is still a good old guard from past generation
As of last night the $109 was the lowest price for "New". I sold audio equipment for almost 20 years and you'd be surprised how many V6's I sold at $149-$159 and that was back in the last 80's.
i got the new and have the old ones still. old model is likely 100 percent same as 7506s, internally. this new sounds unbalanced, overly bassy, has several differences (no microlines on lettering, stamped not offset "made in thailand" lettering, less shiny cable with a very fragile endtip-not going to last, already sound pops at cable motion, stickers on cans are one piece: i figured i got a fake pair, but this was from amazon.. huge disappointment from sonny to me). Hey, OP, where in NY did you buy the old pair? Thanks.
It's amazing they still are producing the same ones! I wish more products were good enough to stick around for the long haul!
MunYa B LOL
MunYa B Your'e joking right? You can't even compare these to those crappy Beats headphones.
MunYa B Well... It's actually a very well known fact that most (some are okay) Beats headphones are crap. But I guess you didn't know that yet.

MunYa B Sorry kid, you're not allowed in this club. Please don't buy them, you'll make me look bad.
Happy to see them back, such amazing mids on these especially in the vocals.

Great video as always...I think the MDR-V6 was introduced in 1985. The 7506 was the early 90's. Good to see them back.
7506 came out in 1991 if I'm not mistaken.

Considering what kind of new junk is sold at this price, these are still a bargain despite the slight price increase.
I miss the old packaging...let's just say it's more classy , I do miss my V6 , probably should get another one.
aumkar chandan good luck finding an authentic pair

How much longer until the xb950bt review?
Price is up by $15 ($64.99) on Amazon as of December 4th, 2015
sooo.... i just got the v6 for $58 but it was sold by amazon, and does not appear to be sold by another party on amazon. am i safe?
Why? The V6 is pretty pointless in 2019.

@@basshead. How is the V6 pointless in 2019/2020?
@@apexdna it's super outdated
@@apexdna It's just a collector's item now.
You need to go beast mode on the unboxing sometimes. :)
just bought some on eBay ... I'm going to definitely compare this to this video :0
i. Cali559. We're they legit???
Its diffrent sound from japan and thailand made?
no.... the sound is same.
Nope these have been around since 1985.
Mine came with a nylon bag, the Sony logo is 3" stamped along the bottom. It's not white either. Is it a fake?
No, the nylon bag is new. They're legit.
Amazon just had them for $49.99 so I bought two!
+apexdna $109 on Amazon now. Supply is getting low.
+Rick Davis That was during last year's Black Friday. They're back to their overinflated prices, but sometimes you can get them for $89.99 on Amazon.
As of last night the $109 was the lowest price for "New".
I sold audio equipment for almost 20 years and you'd be surprised how many V6's I sold at $149-$159 and that was back in the last 80's.
+Rick Davis I'm sure they were also made in Japan (which I don't mind paying double for) and outlasted current Chinese-made models.
Yep, in the 80's we didn't have a lot of Chinese crap on the shelves yet.

As long as it's not made in China, anywhere should be fine.
Unfortunately they're and were made in China for the last 15+ years, originals were made in Japan though.
@@apexdna The used to be made in Japan but now they're made in Thailand, not China. The genuine ones have never been made in china.
@@korppionoikeus5857 I just checked my spares and you are absolutely correct, they ARE made in Thailand.
