J.D., your Gettysburg series has been phenomenal. I know you have a wide area of interests but I do hope you keep hitting Civil War battlefields as you continue your journey through history. Thanks for the work you've put in, it's appreciated. Cheers.
Just visited this area on 08/02/2021. My Great great Grandfather fought here with the PA 18th Cavalry, 163rd Regiment, Company H. He too had his horse shot from beneath him at Gettysburg. Thanks JD for your fantastic videos!

In the current days of continuous online stupidity and fighting, it’s really great to see and watch interesting and educational videos/vlogs. Keep up the great work man, always pumped when I see a new video!!!
I keep coming back to your videos because you always do a detailed, well organized presentation...always with an obvious, heartfelt respect for those who fought and sacrificed for what they believed in. Regardless of which flag they served under. Thank you.
I've stayed at the Battlefield Bed and Breakfast. It is a really nice place to stay. I highly recommend it. They serve an amazing breakfast. And yes, for any ghost hunters out there, it is haunted. Ghost Hunters did an episode at this place and caught and apparition on camera. One of the most impressive I've seen.
I'm glad I took a JROTC class trip to Gettysburg from Florida. We really learned a lot the battlefield an the stories that came with them an we became different kids after that experience for sure.
I visited Gettysburg 3 years ago but did not give myself enough time to visit the cavalry battlefields. I plan on retiring in Gettysburg so this is on my list.
Thanx JD. I've been on the road myself today and got home to find this little gem waiting for me. That war was immense and the men who fought it were giants. Some with egos to match. I'm glad not all commanders were as foolhardy as Killpatrick. Did he even come to have a look at this mess?!! Farnsworth carried out his orders like a true good soldier. But he must have known this was going to be his last action. THAT is bravery.
I love your videos and your passionate work! I am a history major and a history buff myself. I went to Gettysburg many years ago with my kids. A trip I won’t soon forget. Many memories made with my kids there. Amazing experience!! Thanks for your expertise on matters so important to me!!
@@TheHistoryUnderground it sure looked like it, interesting fact…after seeing your videos, when I watch documentaries and I see a barn in the background, I always think “Bet that was a hospital once!” Lol 😂
As a kid, I was very familiar with the battle of Gettysburg and was (for a 10year old) very knowledgeable of the battle. You have far exceeded my knowledge of the battle. Great Job I have no clue how you learned so much without dedicating your life to this Battle.
Another great video with info that probably 90% of us had no idea about. I also agree with those who say the cinematography is constantly improving. I particularly enjoyed the music on this one. Just hit home and conveyed the sadness of the situation.

Love it! Video after video of Civil War with a lil dose of WW2 thrown in for good measure. Ive just started reading William Frassanito's Gettysburg - A Journey in Time so these videos are well timed.
Ground not meant for horses, rocks everywhere. My relative Pvt. William Bailey rode with the 1st WV and was killed during the charge and buried in the National Cemetery at Gettysburg.
I never had heard if this charge before. Thank you for teaching me something new today. I look foreword to each & every one of your uploads & have been sharing this entire series with a Gettysburg group that I am a member of on Facebook. Keep up the awesome work.
I love your Gettysburg series. My great-great grandfather was part of the Pennsylvania 17th cavalry and fought at Gettysburg. His name is on the Pennsylvania monument. In fact, I received a picture from the Gettysburg Foundation of the 17th cavalry at a reunion in Gettysburg!
I always love the great great grandparents stuff. I always wonder during that time they were thinking my great great grandchildren will hopefully know what I’ve done and be proud.
I walked that route. The Farnsworth story was compelling, to say the least. Did not know he made it to the barn. Thanks for that info. Great job again.
Absolutely nothing short of amazing. Excellent job. The detail you put into this and the accuracy of the information is absolutely aces. Thanks as always. Cheers.
Another excellent and fascinating video! Thank you JD for teaching me something new about Gettysburg that I was unaware of. The thing I found most amazing was the monument to the 1st Vermont Cavalry that stated out of the 2297 men that served in this unit, more died of Confederate prisons and disease and accidents than died of a direct result of combat. I knew that most men killed in the years of civil war were from these reasons but had never seen an actual tally of the numbers for one particular group during the entirety of the war. Thank you again for doing what you do!
I have read so much about Gettysburg, watched all the videos and yet I had no one speak of this charge until you. Wow.... Gettysburg stories are never ending...and you are right on Kilpatrick. Just not realistic on how to use Cavalry
This why I am subscribed to your channel, JD! You bring us, perspectives that are unknown outside of the known! We very much appreciate it. Thank you so much. Keep 'em coming, brother!

If you compare the numbers and the cost, Longstreet’s assault on the 2nd day on the left flank of the Union Army was larger and more “involved” than Pickets charge! A lot of people don’t compare them but they’re very similar except for numbers! Longstreet’s on the left flank had over +15,000 and Pickets charge had somewhere between 12,000-13,500!
