Unfortunately i think those feelings will always be there. In my case I was always aware of what was going starting at age 4-5. In fact since these "situations" were stressful thats why the memories are very vivid. I wasn't prepared for the flashbacks in college when i would get intimate with a female and would be right back at four being forced to do stuff. Therapy didn't help make things go away, but it did help me understand what was going on.

Hi Michael! Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing your story ( I really appreciate your candor and thoughts). You are so right, the feelings will never go away, the best we can do is accept them, understand them and learn how to make lemonade. If I may ask.. Do you still get flashbacks and if so, are they the result of a trigger or just randomly?

@@IAmMikeyVera my abuser got off on being physically abusive that included restraining me in closets etc and progressed into sexual abuse. So it's hard to know what will trigger me. I'm now very claustrophobic and sometimes smells can really affect me. I honestly went through years of therapy as a child around 10 but I quit because I didn't think it was helping and after a while lost faith in the doctor I had. Oh, I almost forgot I also have a bad problem when anyone touches me. I practically jump out of my skin and it can be hard to explain. Especially at work.

Wow Michael, that's terrible. I'm so sorry that happened to you. I can absolutely relate to not having the right therapist and also the touching thing, I immediately retract, but I have gotten a lot better. My one hang up is holding my wrists down, I still lose it then (but that has more to do with my dad doing that to my mom). Thanks for sharing Michael. Big ole (air) 🤗's and ❣!!

@IAmMikeyVera yeah having the right therapist is so important. Even as a child I was like not trusting him because I got sent to him for all the other stuff going on at the time and he discussed something I trusted him with to my parent. I mentally checked out then and shut down communicating and ran out the clock on our sessions.

Hi Mikey! Thanks for sharing this story, I could see your heart breaking as you spoke and my heart broke with yours. It’s so terrible that a child would have to try and deal with adult sized issues and I’m so sorry you had to go through these experiences. I know you’ve moved past it, but I can still see the pain in your eyes when you reflect and I’m so sorry that you have to do that. ❤️

Mikey, I wish I could give you a hug. I hate that you and your brother had this happen to you

Hey Tom. Thank you so much for the comment and sweet words. I'll take any hug, even if it's a virtual one😉. I don't think my brother would have ever said anything, so even though it's a sucky situation for sure, I think we're both glad that we could validate each other's experience. Biggest 🤗's and ❣!!

Hey Greg! Thanks for the comment, you are spot on! Saying things out loud has probably been the most effective tool I've used.

Hi Mikey, I've watched all of your videos. I know that what you discussed wasn't easy for you. I can also see how much you've grown. I believe everyone has had something happen to them or has had something said to them that was traumatic. When you mentioned Titanic I immediately understood what you meant. Also, going to sleep, I've experienced that as well. Honestly, with each video you post, I feel your emotion. Also, each video has helped me remember and release the emotion that I put on the back burner. I can't say thank you enough for everything you do. You're a strong, amazing, and beautiful man who I admire! I am so grateful I found your channel, and I mean that sincerely! Lots of 🤗's and much ♥️!!

Hey Brad! Wow, thank you so much 😊 .. I REALLY, REALLY appreciate this comment. I agree, trauma is definitely something that we all have in common. Sadly, fear, embarrassment and low self-esteem can really do a number on us, and block us from actually dealing with those traumas. One of my biggest fears in making certain videos is that they're not going to be relatable and/or make sense, so the fact that you're able to understand and FEEL, what I'm saying. It really does mean the world to me.. THANK YOU Brad! Biggest 🤗's and all the ❣!!

@@IAmMikeyVera Thank you, Mikey! I don't know how to explain why, or how, I'm able to understand things the way I do. I've always had that ability. It's kind of like I put myself in their shoes. I agree with all the points you made regarding trauma. I know I've said this before; you're the best (I'll probably repeat it again... 😃)! 🤗 ♥️
