I took a look at my favorite pillow at home and found that the closest backpacking pillow in thickness was this one. Now that I've used it in the woods a few times I've found that it's perfect for me.
Just in my experience this pillow is too thin, no support and still feels like sleeping an expensive balloon. Also, the blow up valve on these Nemo pillows are the worst out of them all, horrible. I’ve tried this, the Fillo Luxury Elite, Trekology, Exped, simply light designs and others. I suggest if you try a cheaper blowup pillow and don’t like the air bladder feel you won’t like any blow up pillow no matter how much it costs. I tried probably 8 different pillows so far before finally settling on the medium Thermarest Cinch, a real pillow. I guess if you sleep on your back as still as a dead man these pillows would be fine but I toss and turn when I sleep.
I think the layer of foam on the fillow keeps it from having the “balloon” feeling. Plus you need to make sure and not blow them up all the way. But it is definitely a personal preference on what feels right. Are you finding the Cinch pillow gives you enough height and doesn’t compress down?
They are simple to use as long as you remember how they work. Remembering to push or pull and twist. It is the only piece of our gear with that valve so it is easy to forget. 😂
Really great overview and demonstrations!
Glad it was helpful. 😁
I have this pillow and I absolutely love it. I fill it all the way up and let a little air out and it’s very similar to my pillow at home!
Great summary... I had to watch it to figure out how to inflate it... my valve was a little stiff to begin with.
Thank you. 😀

That's fantastic! It's always a win when home comfort translates to the outdoors. Happy Camping! 🏕️
Thanks for the info, we will order one!
😀
Do you think Nemo pillows are good for side sleepers? Im looking for head/neck support.
I am a 100% side sleeper and like it. Almost all backpacking pillows are fairly low in height so you can prop them up with a jackets if needed.
Does the valve allow the pillow be inflated with an electric pump to avoid moisture inside the pillow?
It’s definitely meant to be blown in with your mouth, but you could probably make a seal with your finger between the pump and nozzle.

Awesome! 😄
Took another take to get that valve closed smoothly. I've heard they're a pain to a degree.

Is it memory foam or cheap foam?
I believe it is a normal piece of foam and not memory foam.
Nice Video, i would appreciate if you could add metric measurements in future video's ;)
Thanks! We will definitely do that. 😁
