After six years, seven seasons, and all the spectacular highs and lows of high school football, the Riverdale series finale finally makes clear what happens to Archie and his buddies from the titular "town with pep." I really liked the series finale. It didn’t have the ridiculous plot lines like Riverdale usually had . It was more nostalgic and emotional. The only problem I have with the finale was that I wish that the show went back to the present day. The other thing I wished happened in the series finale, was the show found a way to honour the late Luke Perry .
i too wished it went back in the present day, and for Luke, tho there's season 4's premiere episode, i do wish they gave Luke an honorable mention, but they always have so i'm happy with it!
Same. But I think it would have been better if they never even went to another universe and back in the 50s. Also season 1-6 was pretty much useless since they never gone back to the original timeline.

Same, They even made Betty say "I Know it's impossible, but... I wish that we could stay in Riverdale forever with all of our friends, as we were". And Jughead says " No it's not". I'm just going to say that for me Riverdale ended after Betty said "as we were", and start the whole show all over again like it was one big continuous loop. And maybe watch the whole season 7 episode 20.

I like how they did the ending. It gave them full happy lives and then they returned to being teenagers forever. I found it ironic that a show based on Archie Comics talked about how life and death are inevitable but once Betty returned to Riverdale as a teenage girl in the end it all made sense and was a tribute to the comics as well. This season as a whole served as a tribute to its source material and the love for the comics show. People are too busy focusing on endgame couples but the whole point was that they are all living together being Forever 17 and happy just like their main universe comic counterparts. So the characters you know and love will date one another at some point. You just won’t see it lol
Exactly. Honestly I’ve had a love hate relationship with Riverdale but after seeing the finale I finally got it. It’s almost like the original characters were navigating the modern world with our modern problems and the “darkness” theme that was overused lol and were learning how to get back to the original comics. I saw it with reintroducing past big bads in season 7and how the characters finally cut them off 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 good 👏🏼 but it healthier ways than in seasons 1-6. Then finally going into the hereafter, it’s like they are in the comic realm where all the stories we grew up with are existing all at once. In essence the tv show was a precursor to the happy campy Archie comics
The ending was cool, however I'm not a fan of how none of the core 4 stayed together. To do all that work with the love square for no one to get together is wild. I defiantly thought Archie and Betty ended up together cause she had a whole picture of him in a heart frame in her room. But I guess not.
It was definitely a blow that they basically went their separate ways after school and pretty much never talked again despite how strongly they seem connected, but... That's just how life is for most people. Most of the best friends I grew up with joined the military or moved away. Some have moved back since then, but we still rarely talk. It's EXACTLY as Jughead says. You say hello to someone, walk alongside them for awhile, and then you say goodbye. And you have to remember, they had to grow up BEFORE the ease of the internet to keep in contact. It's much easier to keep in contact in this day and age, but back then?
While it's a hard and TRUE life lesson, they also wanted to pay homage to Archie Comics... Which is why they returned as Juniors in the sweet hereafter so that they could have adventures together for all eternity - just like the COMICS.
@@DatabaseAdministrator my problem is that they remember their old lives as though they happened to other people instead of gaining back a missing piece of themselves, I'd have preferred it if they were their old selves again, even if they had to live out their lives in the past. The fact they remain the 50s reboot versions we followed during this season makes it easier to accept they went their separate ways.
I liked the last episode so much. For whatever it’s worth, we did come to know how each of the character we’ve been watching, ended up as. A great way to run us through the next 6 decades
Honestly I really wish that Archie and Betty had gotten married together. Betty and Archie were always meant to be together. What a shame
Betty even told Archie to ask her again after surviving the comet, I thought their 50s relationship was them subconsciously remembering, but it seems like their old selves are gone and they remember the previous 6 seasons as though they happened to different people, rather than getting their full personalities back.
Betty had a heart-shaped framed photo of Archie in her room as an old lady.

What people may not understand with this ending, is that they died during the comet but could come back to life in the 50s.
My observations is that all of them started to die in 2023 because of aging, the year when they should originally be dead because of the comet.
They got a second life, a second chance to enjoy life as its full without any problems.
I find it really interesting that they all died (the main ones) in 2023 and every other people who originally died before Season 6 died before them. They got the chance to live another life instead of just diyng because of the comet
this is a good way to describe it, yeah. tabs already said that there's no other way to return to the present and she didn't mention it's because they're dead and also iirc the comet couldn't be prevented either way in any other universe so her giving them a chance to relive their childhood lives in a different era was a good closure for all of them. i just hated the fact that the writers had to completely change archie's character as a whole and send him off to california and get with someone else, like both betty and archie knew that they were engaged in their previous life but they knew of each other's dreams and didn't want that to be crushed so they let each other go their own ways, betty not marrying anyone cuz she knew she won't marry archie presumably also kinda reflects on her choice but mainly her empowerment because that's what she fought for which is nice to see!

Despite of all the weirdness and darkness of Riverdale, somehow it’s really comforting that the final episode gave closure. An Archie based show that we thought it’s getting far, it eventually gave peace. I’ll miss this show.
I loved the final season. Didn’t like it anymore after season 4. So this was a treat and perfect ending. Liked the 50 vibe.
Really this season was like a nod to the original comics. The Archie comics universe will be timeless in that time period. Its good they gave an arc to each character so you know what became of them. Even though it looks like they ain't shit for ignoring their kids and significant others in the afterlife, the ending of the show leaving them as kids in that time period is fitting imo to match the timeless comic world.
they should of had pop opening the door and saying
"welcome home betty."
This show gave me a headache. I’ve never heard of a series that started in modern time only to end in the 50s
The first two seasons of the show were awesome , but the storylines got way out of hand. Ending the show in 1950’s is a little bit unnecessary. The final season should’ve went back to normal timeline halfway through the final season.
@@karleighrock593 oh I don’t disagree but they at least were still moving forward timewise. It’s incredibly jarring to watch a show that started in current times only to end in the 50s that’s not even the same show at that point. The whole super hero thing was just a mess too but one thing I can say is that at lessst it was consistent with their timeline. Whoever wrote this show needs to stop writing all together
I stopped watching Riverdale almost entirely after the whole “Rivervale “ plot line that led up to the 100th episode . I only started watching the show again because it was the final season and I wanted to see how it was going to end.
@@karleighrock593 do any of the og ships stay together? I heard they did some weird thing at the end where the core four like become one or some weird thing. Kinda like what they did in the 100 and in lost. I read there was only one of ship that actually stays together.

Literally I cried so hard , it’s really over… I wish that the Riverdale town didn’t get abandoned… also that Betty and Archie ended up together and they went to the present time…
It would’ve been better if it were reveled that the entire story of Riverdale was nothing more than a comic written in the present day.
When you think of this as truth, the entire series makes sense, especially the fantasy sci fi horror

I mean, you could interpret it like that. As he says in the video, the final sounds of the show are of a type-writer, which could indicate that this was all written by Jughead as one of his comics.
I mean, if you want to go another layer, it is just a TV show written in present-day....

i binged the last 2 seasons and really enjoyed the finale... as a former Archie comic reader, i found the journey back in time to be very nostalgic and refreshing... felt like the writers wanted the finale to be very finite, unpredictable, and emotional. All I can say is.... Mission accomplished... it is kinda odd to me that the LGBTQ+ couples made it.... but I can see why we didn't get the iconic pairings... would have left a legacy of continuation in probability... they tried to delete the possibility altogether... so now we, the fans, are left with memories and the thoughts of what was and what if... briliant writing.... i am also glad i was able to binge 2 seasons, or I would have been lost lolol... great recap, BTW!! #Salute
Choni and Clevin always wanted each other above all. The other couples never quite decided or changed their minds too often so it makes sense to me they never settled down with each other.
I used to read the archie comics too.
LOL, Jughead is actually Death or the Grim Reaper guiding the spirits to their forever here after. Would be funny if Bill&Ted showed up to in their phone booth just to crash their afterlife scenario and pick up Jughead.
I loved this finale. It was everything.
In the very end, Betty goes back to riverdale, stops the comet or another comet hits, and they all go back into the future, live in riverdale 2023 as teens all over again.
I like this ending for the show. Although I do think instead of the final season being set in the 50’s , Tabitha should have reset the time line where they go all the way back to season one and try to recorrect all the mistakes and to prevent the future comet .

The season pretty much brought all 4 of them together in ways which we didn’t see in the original timeline. There is a reason why most of the characters chose to remember the good memories instead of the bad ones. Barchie and Bughead were from one timeline. This 50s timeline was more focused on the four of them being more together and United in the face of social and political issues and most importantly just living their best lives
Even Cheryl’s character was more likeable and this season brought of the best of her.
Well Betty had a photo of Archie at 86,they kissed and Archie told her he wanted to end up with only her and then reunite in the afterlife so they kinda did

This was just depressing to watch past 4 seasons. Not as a story but cuz it’s so obvious the writers and directors just gave up completely and we were just watching the beating of a dead horse. With the introduction of Tabatha and towards the end of season 6 I actually had a lil bit of hope rejuvenated then they did absolutely nothing with season 7 not even the ending which I absolutely hate. Either 1 last season to fully put this show to rest properly or a 3 hour long film sending them back to the present

I know they try to make the ending very nice and but it was very weird and I did not care for it whatsoever. The ending was terrible. There might have been a couple good couples put together but the main couples I wanted didn't even happen. It was ridiculous. I am disappointed into the writers as much as the producer. They did very well with ending of season 6 and how they produce that but this season completely suck. I just basically wasted my last year watching this stupid show. A lot of people might like it cuz they try to have a good ending to it and I get it but it wasn't the ending that needed to be said. They had a lot of weird crap this year and I just don't care for that garbage.
