The "Mind crush Yugi" scene is a classic. Little Kuriboh has a real knack for putting the concept of the series into simple flat statements that highlight its absurdity in the funniest possible way, and the timing of every line is spot-on perfect.
And of course, the entire episode is comedic excellence.

Even his “toned down” approaches/personality closer to Duelist Kingdom and thereafter are still pretty hardcore: zero problem with enabling Kaiba to commit suicide (if not killing him, depending on how you want to look at it), much more black and white in his thinking than Yugi, and so on. I always interpreted the mellowing-down as him both trying to be less unruly for the sake of his host and coming to his senses a little bit after having gone truly crazy from solitary confinement for thousands of years.

Yami Yugi was actually more than willing to kill people if they messed with Yugi or his friends; in the manga, he stopped utilizing Shadow Games on his enemies after Pegasus claimed the Millennium Items contained an evil intelligence. The anime has Yami stop inflicting Penalty Games after the Duelist Kingdom arc without any explanation.

The best part is that Yami's characterization in this parody is nearly identical to his characterization in the actual Season 0 - the only real difference is that he's somewhat more talkative here.

Nah, he had a pretty high body count in the manga as well. He dabbled in psychological torture, and the season 0 anime softened some of his actual kills to 'only' mind rape, but before character development really kicked in, if Yami was out, someone was gonna die.
Or at least just get set on fire. There's at least one manga instance where I'm *pretty* certain the victims would've survived (they were near a water source), but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying.
It kinda makes me wonder if there isn't like, an arrest warrant out on Yugi. With that hair, he should be pretty easy to pick out of a lineup.

Wanna know the best part about the yugi ''Finger-death game''? It goes down EXACTLY like this parody shows. Slight dialogue changes, but not that many changes.
Yugi is this creepy in season zero.
And the manga.
Although he was more of the righteous avenging angel in the manga then he was in the show. In the show he was mostly just sadistic. Which is why it was canceled in favor of making Duel Monsters, where they made him a toned down version of his manga self, but with less of the psyche-breaking and more of a straight beat-down.
But even in the 4kids dub he does use his ''Mind crush'' quite a few times in season 1.
Maria Lindström I remember that. But it wasn't to the common extent of the manga and original series.
It died out during season 2 and onward. And yea..mind crushes in the manga is quite creepy...you might as well say he kills people ^^
I picked up the first Yugioh Manga and this happens exactly the same in it also even the joke about Tea getting the hots for the Spirit in the Millennium Puzzle lol

Although i am a big fan if YGOTAS , i believe this season zero series is by far the best content LittleKuriboh has ever created!
That's because Season 0 (as in the original) is miles better than the card game-focused YGO! ever was (because it's kind of poop).
I think what helps is that there's more plot in season zero.
It's a shame this series isn't continuing, I liked seeing all the different games a lot more than the usual card game in the main series

The Yu-Gi-Oh season 0 Manga is very good, I highly recommend it. I actually wish the whole series would have stuck closer to that storyline instead of just mainly becoming about duel monsters.
I agree, but I don't think this franchise would've achieve its popularity as it has without the card game element.
DarkGonk00 You're right. It would have just stayed what Season 0 is, which is sort of like a horror cult classic. It has a few very dedicated fans but never would have made it big and I bet it would have ended earlier. Popularity wise, the card game was the best thing for it.
I think I've heard more than one person say that the Season 0 manga felt like something Neil Gaiman would write. It's dark and often gritty, but there's also a surreal... whimsy to it. People get maimed and killed and driven to insanity, and in a lot of cases it's played for laughs or just plain forgotten about.
A fine line between horror and comedy.

It would have been too repetitive if they stuck with that formula, sure, it looks good nowdays, but the surprising factor would have died pretty quickly if Yami did nothing more than mind-crushing his oponents.
