It’s crazy how 18 and Super Goku are the only ones that have the “different costume gives you a different super” gimmick, especially since it felt like they were hyping it up when announcing power pole Goku. So many characters could of used this gimmick to make each costume more accurate and unique
Lack of impact is really a big issues with a lot of supers and ultimates in this game. Either the explosions are too small or there are SFX missing but there's always something missing
its neat the outfit change for 18 gives her a different move. . . wish that were more utilized in the game lol I also kinda like 18's ult. It loses the kick, but the hits feel meatier.
I feel like 17’s (super) green cutter super would be better if he fired two of them. The pose he makes just gives off that impression like he’s gonna fire two of them consecutively.
The Androids were always a fun trio. I wish we got more of them in the show. Also I find it very funny that there's two 17's in this game, and Super 17 didn't make it in. It would've been amazing if they could fuse into him. Also wow, I can't believe 18 is the only character in the game to have a costume that changes her moves. Minus DBS Goku's DLC move, of course. Wish they did more of those. Would've been fun to see. I do miss the unique effect on 18's Infinity Bullet tho...
Android 17(Z) ultimate is my favorite. It's one of the longest ults and there's always some finality to it. Like the Ult genuinely feels like it'll end the target for good
For Cell I prefer the self-destruct as the ult but for 16 it really should be Hell Flash. Park ranger 17 is one of the rare things I like about Super so I dig him being in the game.
having two android 17's makes sense, one for Evil Future 17, and Super 17, no pun, for Good. plus is a way to show off more of what he did in the show. One thing I wish was on 16 moveset was the punch having a cut scene of the person getting punched, similar to Cell in the anime. Also regarding 18's finisher, I think they were going for the bit in the manga where she blasts a guy behind her getting up.
It makes no sense. They literally showed with 18 that you can change movesets with outfits, so DBS 17 should've been an outfit. And it's not like they need different dialogues because we already have characters like Goku (Super) so he'd obviously have different dialogue towards this one anyway.
@@Lyserg1260 The way old 17 is design is based around his rude Android Saga self. He acts completely different in Super, so it's jarring to have him use animations meant to have him come off like rude Z 17 while having him talk like he's 17 Super. And they both did enough different to warrant separate slots.
@@Lyserg1260 I gotta agree with OP's point, 17 in Z and 17 in Super almost feels like two different characters. Having them separated is ok, actually, better than 17 being this weird mishmash of attacks from both times he fought in the series. There is NO WAY you can have two almost different characters compete in the Costume slot. Even Jackie Chun, a character who changes the animations for an entire costume and Buu18 who changes one Super still have the same combo strings. If there is ONE CHARACTER who actually benefited from the Separate Character Slots, is 17.
That's literally all of the noteworthy moves 16 has. Rocket Punch. Hell Flash. And the Self-Destruct he attempted by never actually got to do. If Self-Destruct isn't his Ult, then he doesn't have a full moveset. 17 Super did enough in the ToP plus acting completely different from his old self to warrant being a separate character. Again, "live" cinematics strike again on Sadistic 18. Least they could've done was do those freeze on the hits like BT3 did it to emphasize the strikes. And get the arm-break kick right by actually having her kick their arm and animate them getting hit specifically there.
They focused wayy too much on the attacker instead of the one being attacked, which is why so many of these feel weightless. If they'd copied some of the older ultimates frame-by-frame (Burst Rush, Sadistic 18, Fierce Combination, etc.), these movesets would have been absolutely incredible.
18's grab is also a downgrade, I miss when she used to slap people up in BT2&3 similarly to 1st form Frieza. But they're not super horrible i guess. I do like how the androids in this game have this weird beeping sound effect when they charge their energy blasts right before firing (I dont notice it with most other characters I dont think). Since that 17 keeps getting that electric strike move that he never used ever, I was kind of hoping more characters would get more open-mindedness from devs with moreexpansive movesets with "custom" or new moves, oh well 🤷🏾
I don't quite understand why 17 got a Super variation but 18 didn't. I get that 17 did alot in the ToP, even alot of moves he never pulled before, but still. IMO every character that appeared in Super should have a Super version. Even Tien. At least then we could get the multi-form technique and the 4 arms instead of just Tri beam. Also, Super Electric Strike always looks bad, regardless of the game. I assume it is because it was first introduced in Xenoverse if I remember correctly, and there it just never had any impact or explosion at the end. So now everyone just keeps doing that as well. It looks so bad in Fighterz, a game where basically everything else is beautiful.
I thought I was the only one who felt Hell Flash should be his Ultimate (Well okay there are others but still.). I feel like sometimes we put so much emphasis on the fact something like the Self-Destruct is a notable moment that we don't consider how odd it is that your Ultimate technique in a game is blowing yourself up. I feel it's better as just a story beat more than anything. At least it looks pretty though if they were to change up his moveset in other games, I'd like it if maybe he had a physical rush that involved him slamming people like he does in his unique throw. Just have him grab a fool by the ankles and go to town. 17 got a neat upgrade. I really like that his Ultimate is finally the proper rapid energy shots rather than just big gold beams. His other attacks are decent too though I'll admit I'm not the most fond of having the energy balls and the beam. I think it'd have been nice if maybe we got a rush based a bit on his fight with Piccolo. 17 always struck me as a dude who likes to have fun so why not lean into it? I don't know what people are saying, Super 17 is clearly present... All kidding aside, he's neat. I really don't think he necessarily needs to be a character but the point on customizable movesets has been exhausted. Overall he's nice, Super Electric Strike brings to mind... MANY times that he kept saying he'd beat me like a rug in Xenoverse though it definitely doesn't have the same impact as it did in Xenoverse 2 where it worked really well as a pretty devasating Ultimate. His actual Ultimate here's fine though I think it's failed a bit in effects. I think we really needed to see the barrier bulging a bit as well as more build-up before the boom to really sell how devastating this is. 18... kind of is the worst off. Indeed the Ultimate is worse though it's not just that it's missing those elements. In BT3, they held on each strike you felt the impact and with the kick to the ground, I specifically remember in the RB version how they had the camera from the perspective of the opponent which moved as she brought her leg back before cutting to show it landing, it all contributed to it feeling really painful. Here, there are just too many hits, nothing lingers for long enough and really just feels like a standard rush.
Android 16, in my opinion, should have had his eye lasers that appeared in the Raging Blast series, Hell's Impact, and Hell's Flash as his Ultimate, as that Self-Destruct Device attack either needs to go or just be a secondary Ultimate (similar to how Semi-Perfect Cell should have had two Ultimates: Super Galick Gun and/or that Self-Destruct attack).
Another point against self destruct being 16’s ult is it didn’t actually work in the series. I’d be perfectly fine with him getting a generic super for his second super and Hells Flash being his ult
@@ShadowknightEX he needs a super that really emphasises his size and power, like a grapple or something. I think he had a few in fighterz so they could have pulled from there (especially since they already pulled moves from xenoverse for 17 anyway)

For 17, while I just understood why he was separated into two versions, I wish he also simply had different attacks on each outfit to see that he changed as a person. But maybe that's too much to ask. For 18, what kind of moveset do the other outfits have?
I was so disappointed with Sadistic 18. Probably my biggest downgrade along with Burst Rush. I would have accepted it if the arm break was just on Super Vegeta but to drop it entirely sucks.
Alright, I’m gonna be that guy. Every character who got a redesign/new look for Super looks worse than their Z variant. Future Trunks, 17, 18, even Vegeta’s grey armor looks worse than his normal. I don’t like Gohan’s tracksuit, but it’s somehow the least offensive of the bunch by virtue of at least sort of fitting his character development.
DBS 17 being a separate character is a joke. It's almost like they said "make Super 17" and dev team misunderstood it and created "17 (Super)" instead and it was too late to change.
17's ult looks slow and the hits have no impact. The camera angles aren't that great and they linger on too long on 17 and 18 before they unleash the ki blasts, which also don't look that good abd have a weird camera angle. Was gonna disagree with your stance on TOP 17 but realized that 18's alt costume changed one of her supers. Although, I guess the difference between a different character and a different costume is that amount of different moves they have. TOP has enough going for him to be his own character, more so than Z 17.
18 having three supers shows me that they could’ve implemented Meteor Combination for Early Goku if they wanted to.
its not too late they can add it to an outfit
Yes I agree, they should have done a similar route as the Storm games in Naruto where different costumes had different jutsus
Nah goku from the 23rd wt deserves his own slot in the roster
Nah fuck that. Rather have actual teen Goku
or Genocide Breaker on Vegeta
Android 17 was fun af during the Tournament of Power arc i don't mind have that version of him as a individual character lol
Yeah.
I was really hoping they do that to 18 aswell but sadly not
I love how Super Electric Strike has just become a staple in 17’s moveset for the past 10 years just cause why tf not?
In the manga during the Moro arc they had both 17 and 18 use that attack officially, it was amazing
I like how 17's "I'll beat you like a rug" move just follows him wherever he goes now.
Xenoverse: “what the hell does 17 do? Well just make something up I guess”
Years later: “what the hell does 17 do? Oh look Xenoverse knows!”

Very much agreed, there was a very poor work on a lot of characters with the potential of truly flashy and explosive moves

More like Slightly Rude 18.
And is no longer 18 hits neither
its neat the outfit change for 18 gives her a different move. . . wish that were more utilized in the game lol
