I appreciate that you still do videos on The Ordinary and acknowledge that some of us still need their cheaper prices. So many of the other skincare channels have taken to bashing the Ordinary.
Second this comment!
Why would anyone bash them? 😟The only fault they have is stuff going out of stock.
@@Sammm3h the only thing they could muster against TO is not all products fits everyone, which is basically ALL skincare products 😂
Agreed!
Who bashed the Ordinary I wonder? I haven’t watched skincare review videos for ages. 🙂
Year after year after year Gothamista remains the BEST skin UA-cam and I don’t even know how to explain why. Everything she does is phenomenal and you can tell that this is a woman who fkn CARES about skin and I love that
I don't have the words, just thank you, love 🙏😭💕
Amen!
We trust her!
@@gothamista your perspective is unique and hard to come across in the skin world. I’ve been working in skincare for years now and I continually learn about undervalued brands and skincare practices..I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Skin is so deeply important & personal- the work you do not only heals skin but it truly heals people’s hearts. Thank you sm!
I do wonder if you’d every consider diving into the world of Pityrospirum Folliculitis. Fungal acne is horribly underdiagnosed and it can be quite difficult to treat and maintain a routine with. I’ve spent the last few years learning about it & sadly it doesn’t seem there are many educated voices on UA-cam giving proper advice. Even those who’re dermatologists & SHOULD know what they’re talking about. I’ve met countless people who feel so deflated & feel they’ll never have clear skin. I can only help people one at a time tho :/ Fungal acne prevents you from using the vast majority of formulas and I think the world would benefit greatly from an educated, heartfelt person such as yourself doing a dive into the subject and using your unique perspective to help these people have the glowing skin they want so badly 💖 it’s really a lot to get into so my feelings won’t be hurt if you don’t get around to it but I wanted to throw the suggestion out there. You’d be helping millions who’re desperate 😊😊
(Maybe millions is a stretch but you get what I’m saying 😄)
@@gothamista it’s true. You are. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I sometimes wonder what new gems would we have if Brandon was still with us. RIP. He will always be missed.
I love how you talk about each products texture and features. Its not in a selling way like a sales rep would but from
a place of consider review. Especially the B Oil where often people say it smells herbal as a negative, you interpret it as fresh. Love that
I could hear you do a rin through all skincare companies' best sellers. Just so informative and captivating, thank you so much for sharing with us
Since Ulta started carrying The Ordinary, this is one of my go-to skincare brands. My mainstay is the 150 ml Squalane Cleanser and, this winter, the Squalane serum is moisturizing favorite. I look forward to trying the lactic acid and the argireline serums.
Renee this channel is my OG for skincare reviews and your earlier explainers on NIOD and The Ordinary helped me so much in my skincare journey. Thanks for all your efforts, I trust your word completely and have learnt so much from you! You're in my Skincare Hall of Fame xx 🤩
thank you!! i have textures issues and actually hearing from someone else about how these products feel on the skin helps me so much to decide what would not only work well for my skin but also for my easily distressed self :)
Just wanted to share my gratitude for your channel. Now in my late 40s, I'm finally getting an interest in skincare (never too late, right?) and it's fantastic to have come across your channel and have someone my own age that is so passionate, knowledgeable, and authentically sharing their knowledge and recommendations about skincare. I have definitely landed on the right channel and am already in love with your videos and all the helpful advice you share.
Trying to learn about skincare from scratch is overwhelming and I'm finding your detailed and clear knowledge very helpful. Especially The Ordinary brand was quite confusing and scary, and this video was helpful in order to get some insight and some recommended products to try as a start. Thank you and I'm excited to keep watching. :)
I love that you mentioned Brandon in such a loving way ❤️❤️
RIP Brandon. He really changed the face of skincare forbid mere mortals and debunked myths in an industry driven by myth, packaging and price.
I agree, I feel like he deserved more towards the end, he was a mad scientist who quite literally changed peoples lives in the form of changing their skin and making it affordable, I hope he is resting easy. ❤️
Who is Brandon? Where is his video?

You always come through for us! Thank ya kindly!
Just found your channel and I love the way you speak and the way you explain things. Your sincerity is refreshing!
I so agree about the granactive retinoid. I started with this product about 2 years ago and am now going to try a stronger retinol. The granactive is a great and gentle way to begin.
Great video. I love the fact that you mention Brandon a few times in the video. He was such an amazing guy and a pioneer in the industry! 💜
I'm so glad you did this video! I love the ordinary, their nmf + ha moisturer is lovely! Right now I'm enjoying their 30% vitamin c suspension in silicone: sooooo good!
The accuracy of this video with my routine! I Absolutely love Ordinary, and trust me, I've tried/use really expensive products 🙃 but Ordinary gets the job done!
Been waiting for this! Thanks Renée!
For me the most underrated product from The Ordinary is always the azelaic acid. It’s best for removing red acne scars and preventing spots. It’s even helped me remove a milia seed from near my eyes when I used an eye cream that was too rich! Hidden gem!
Excellent video! Nice to know what holds up and what's new that you love!
Thank you for your videos !! You are the best 🙏🏼
Instantly like, 🥰. I came to know The Ordinary because of you and until now some of the products can never be replaced in my daily routine.
Thank you so much and I wish you a great skinhealth.
Love this!! And coincidentally, you've mentioned all of my favourites from TO!
Thanks for this Rene! I've just started using this brand, though I've heard about it for years. I appreciate your take in several items I either have or have am interest in. Thank you for informative videos!
I absolutely love your reviews
Thank you Renee 💙🤗
Thanks so much for the update!!!! 🧡🧡🧡
This is so useful- thank you! I'm getting my wishtrend holiday box in today and am so excited to try out the products you recommended this year!
Oooh I can’t wait for you to try everything!!
Just got mine today too, soooo excited to dig in :)
This is kind of hilarious cuz after years of experimenting you've basically ran through my routine (marine hyaluronics, vit c + AA, salicylic masque) in this video :P I agree with all the points you've made for those, glad I'm being validated by the best! I also just picked up the buffet + copper peptides too!
Can you please share how you incorporate them with your skin routine? Thanks!
Gothamista still the queen of UA-cam skincare. And more importantly I feel you can trust her reviews - even sponsored posts :)
I remember how you loved their 5% lactic acid. I tried it myself and really haven't looked back! It goes on so beautifully and gives a gorgeous glow 💖
Yes, for dry skin the lactic acid is really good.
Great picks, thanks for sharing your thoughts ❤️
I just love your reviews ❤
Thank you for this update! The scalp serum is my ride or die too 🙏🏻🥰
Thank you from Sweden
Gothamista has done a “Best of The Ordinary” update which seems like forever. SLOWvember is still in effect..life is good right now!! 🙌✨
After watching your older videos I gave The Ordinary a try and I haven’t looked back. It’s revolutionized my skin. Thank you!
This feels so familiar
Thank you for explaining all the little details. I'm embarrassingly a newbie and a lot late on my skincare game. But better late than never, right? It's pretty overwhelming trying to put together a routine with all of the different products and brands that are available out there. So I'm very thankful to have found you.
I’m over 60 and started a few months ago. I bought the Argireline Solution 3.0% and love it. A few months ago I bought the AHA 30%+BHA 2%. I love that too. I’m trying to minimize a few acne scars on my cheek. It seems to be working. I only use the AHA 3x a week. And never leaving on more than the 10 minutes they suggest. I’m watching to see if I what else I can get. The prices are so reasonable, too!! Happy shopping during “ Slovember”!!
Ughhhh love this video, luv u!
It was a very efective video as always.Could you also please make a video for the layering of the ordinary products. Thank you in advance.
Love your videos! Thank you so much❤🌺🌹
Loving this video 🖤
I love this video.
Actually, i love you!! Your videos are just a bliss.
It's sad I can't get all of the ordinary products I want here in Morocco.
Thank you love!! 😘
Yassss!!! Finally the Marine Hylauronics is acknowledged, it is hands down my favourite HA serum🤍
She's literally the best skin UA-camr, so please don't waste time on other people, just watch her for product reviews, and well that is okay but she is really knowledgeable, she really knows what she is talking about, I just love the extra knowledge she gives out. She is like a beautiful friend company to watch while she is shredding her beautiful knowledge
Great Recommendations! Thanks
Perfect timing, Deciem are having their November sale!
YAY good to see you Renee
So happy I found your channel! Love how you describe each skincare product
Thank you so much for sharing this with us ,I am the new beginner of Ordinary products , it’s so confusing to me and I didn’t know where to start it 😜😜
‘B’ for Brandon… you are nothing but class!!!! My skin and I thank you!!
Thanks easy explain and not too long listening Great to tap into the subject They should do this with every item!
I love the ordinary products and you are amazing at explaining the product.mine thing I would love to hear is when to use some of these products. Thank you.
I never thought to apply the gly acid acid to scalp awesome idea . I have most of items you talked about. I couldnt use the marine stuff caused redness. I really like this brand. Thanks for mentioning Brandon as I have never forgot he is the reason he made affordable skincare. Renee Schroeder from South Dakota
If you can apply it to your face, you can apply it to your skin anywhere else.
I've been waiting for this for so long, so thank you!! It definitely was worth the wait
Another amazing review! I still love the ordinary and I use Buffet almost everyday! I wanted to try the copper peptide one, but I heard that certain ingredients should not be mixed with copper peptides. Can you do a video about this? Thank you 🙏😁
This video is everything!! I still remember the last TO video you mentioned, how I didn't know much about the active ingredients and screen shot & wrote the note from your video and walked into Toronto Deciem Store with it !!! Thanks a ton, and here I am again with my updated notes lol 🤣 I also appreciate how you always mention Brandon the founder and show the respect. It's sad how things turned and I respect founder with such ambition.
A bit mixed feelings about The Ordinary now that's it's EL and you literally see it expanding like any other of its brands, advertising on all of my social media platforms, ironically for me and many- earlier supporters and believers in the power of consumers who do their research and not buying into the old commercial way...
Hey Renee, your Deciem product reviews are extremely insightful and very appreciated. When I'm about to buy something from them I always check your videos. Here's another topic I'd love to see you talk about: effective, yet safe and gentle choices for young teens that are dealing with active acne breakouts, and fresh hyperpigmentation that appears as a result. What would be your choices from Ordinary, or perhaps other brands.
You really are the only UA-cam I know that is knowledgeable about skincare and who doesn't take the fun out of it. I love your approach to skincare.
There are others, including estheticians who have great channels.
Oooh will try the glycolic acid on my scalp now! ❤️
OMG You have such similar taste with me in terms choosing The Ordinary products. I have most of the products mentioned.
Love your videos, I would love if you can do a video on which products you can mix together.
Like a lot of women I buy what is recommended but not sure what to do with them all! And which ones I can use together?
Thank you 😊
My wishtrend holiday box of wishes arrived yesterday (I live in Australia) and I’m so excited! I managed to get the free pack of I’m From best sellers too 😍
YES Marine Hyaluronics is amazing. Thank you for speaking up for it hahaha
I feel so proud when two of my favorite product from The Ordinary is your favorite too
the way you said Ascorbyl TetraIsopalmitate... :o it sounded like a rap for a moment
Hi , love your channel.
i trust your recommendations all the way!! will get the hair peptide
With the exception of two of those products which I have never tried my Ordinary product list is the same as yours. They do have some very nice products at great prices if you do not mind layering multiple items.
Adding Copper Peptides to my skincare was a game-changer!! It makes a huge difference. Also the Marine Hyaluronics is so under-rated!! I love how quickly it just sinks into your skin like water. I put mine in a toner bottle. Thank you for giving it some attention, Renée.
Hi, just interested to find out, what did the peptides do for you? Just wandering if it will do anything for my oily acne prone skin
@@walksthroughlife900 I have oily skin and I love peptides. My skin is way more resilient and over looks and feels smooth. Peptides can help with a lot of things but overall I would say, it's especially good for a better skin barrier.
I started using amino acids +b5 and its feels very similar to marine hyaluronics! I love them both!
Rest in peace, Brandon ❤️
Hi, thanks for sharing! 🖤🖤
The Ordinary products are great, affordable, plus what's important is they WORK!!
Fantastic thank you! 💙🙏🏻🕊🌞
Thanks for the video. So much great information. New to multi product skincare. How do you use these products. Some at night some during the day. If you have a video on how and when to use would greatly appreciated it.
It's not hard to find what works together and what doesn't with google searches.
Wow .. speaking of ordinary still .. love them since 2019 bcoz of u 🥰 thank you
Could you put together a ordinary skincare routine please?
I love the EUK 134. It's probably my favorite.
I love all their products plus they are affordable what most most important is they work! But remember All skin is different and what important is what do you put in your body comes out on your skin!
Do you drink enough water!
Do you eat a healthy diet or mostly junk! You are also what you eat!
You and Cassandra Bankson have not turned on The Ordinary and still talk about the products in a positive way. I love a few of TO products that I always go back to: toning solution, b oil, pycnogenol, ascorbic acid & arbutin and squalane cleanser.
Wayne Goss still supports their products.
@@violetviolet888 ok I thought he was strictly makeup
@@tyresseferguson2462 Most Make-Up Artists talk about skincare at times.
I love there products it works and it's affordable for all!
great video! I love a lot of these but you have introduced me to a couple new ones!
@Gothamista Thank you so much for your wonderful job of reviewing these products. It almost sounds as if you have a biochemistry degree or similar. I appreciate that knowledge.
I wanted to ask about retionoids. Lucky for me, I suppose, I have the same type as you. My skin always looks terrible after using these with capillaries showing and my melasma looking more pronounced. I also look duller in general. Is some of this to be expected with them at first and if I didn't want to use them could the copper peptides replace them, at least for now, unless I need them in the future? Thank you again and sending peace your way.
Thank you. I don't use Telegram, however. I hope there is another way.
I love that Marine stuff I just ran out
I love the hair serum and alpha arbutin vitamin c and often give them out to girlfriends hahaha
Hey, I've been watching your videos and I love them. I have a question if you don't mind answering. I have Seborreic Dermatitis on my scalp(light itching and severe hairloss) and the only thing that works for me is Biologique recherche lotion p50 capillaire(which is very expensive). I thougt switching to TO glycolic acid but I don't know if it will have the same effect. What do you recommend on using?
Someone give this woman more subscribers!
Renee, can you tell us where you bought your top? It is so pretty!
a few of my favorites in this video! the glycolic toning solution also doubles as deodorant for me. i apply it the same as on my face and i swear, i don't smell at all.
Does it work well in the hot summer months?
@@bvrlylava for me, it did. as long as its applied to clean skin.
Yes!! I apply it in my armpits after the shower and it definitely works as a deodorant. I can clearly notice the difference when I don’t use it.
Use alum crystal rock. Cheapest natural deodorant.
lemon juice from a fresh lemon is one of the best deodorants out there
How often do you use these products? what order do you use them?
I’m overwhelmed!! What and in what steps do I use these products. I’m old with dry skin!! I usually clean, tone and then moisturize.
Thank you❣️❣️❣️
Feel like shopping right now 😃
Thank you so much for your amazing videos :)
I would love to incorporate the buffet+copper into my routine but it doesn't seem to play well with anything 🙈 (LAA, exfoliators, retinol...) How/when do you suggest using this in a routine including all the above? Thank you :)
good question, that’s the reason I haven’t purchased it yet although it sounds like such an interesting product! ☺️
All you need to do is use it at night with a moisturizer before you go to bed. It's so loaded, you don't need to use anything else. Just devote it to your skin for an evening. (As you should do with a retinoid.)
If you are like me and use Retinol at night and a Vitamin C serum during the day, then you may not be able to fit a Copper serum into your routine. You can't combine Copper with Vitamin C. However, you can alternate a Copper serum with Retinol or Retin-A at night......Use the Copper serum one night and a Retinol serum the next night. Rene did say a Copper serum can be used with Retinol or Retin-A, BUT using them together may cause sensitivity for some people since each of these are quite potent on their own. Experiment to see what works best for you.
II'm curious where you fit in the Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% into your routine. I am using it after the Buffet/Copper Peptide. Can I use it on nights I use tretinoin? I don't want to have so many products that it becomes confusing where they should land. : )
So I just discovered a skin care brand called Regimen Labs and I haven’t tried any of the products yet but the ingredients are very impressive. I would love to know how you feel about there products especially there serum that targets hyperpigmentation.
Tfs Renee. If you had to choose btw ELAN and the VirF one which would it be, also have you tried the Amino Acid +B5 serum? I used to love the MarineHyluronics, then I tried the amino acid one a year later and haven't looked back
Hi love!! I would go for ELAN personally. Yes, my only issue with the AA + B5 is that it slightly irritated my skin when I use it. There'd be some tingling like when I use a strong acid which was a bit uncomfortable.
My skin isn’t sensitive at all but cannot tolerate the glycolic. I had burns with it 😑 I’m using it on my armpits 👌
Try the Ordinary 5% Lactic Acid. I am very sensitive, and I can tolerate this very nicely. It is gentle but still very effective. It's one of my favourite products. They also have a 10% Lactic Acid which I am also able to use, but just not as often. It is definitely stronger but is still very gentle. I use the 10% LA on my husband!
You recommended this ascorbic acid derivative a while back and I started using it after I watched that video because my face doesn’t tolerate l-ascorbic acid and I LOVE this formula. Have repurchased at least 4 times since :) thank you!
I can’t find the second peptide serum you mentioned. I’ve looked everywhere and all I find is for hair. Can you provide link?
