Show and Tell knitting podcast focuses on vintage (and vintage-inspired) hand knit garments, how to make them and how to accessorize them. Your host, Billie ("billietoy"), uses costume jewelry, hats, handbags, gloves and scarves to style each sweater.
Some episodes include guest knitters from around the world who will showcase their personal collections.
You'll meet new knitters with a passion for vintage 1940s style, while others will be retirees who have been knitting for decades. Each will share selections from their portfolio of retro garments, from cardigan sweaters to jumpers / pullovers to coats and jackets. You're likely to see patterns or yarns that will inspire you, particularly if you love vintage fashion.
Besides taking you through knitting projects, we'll have some laughs and go on some adventures together. - Навчання та стиль
When we've reached the 25th and 50th commenters, I'll do a draw for a free ball of Rowan Softyak DK (US addresses only).
All I can say is that this was a wonderful podcast thank you so much 😍
Thanks, Juliet, for tuning in.
Thank you for a wonderful, warm and welcoming podcast. A fabulously wool and yarn historical chat! Thank you. I've found my clan! :) X
I'm delighted that you found us! I hope you'll enjoy many more episodes.
Enjoyable video again!
Glad you watched. Thanks.
Thanks for a great show.I was born mid fourties but can just remember my mom & god mother knitting pencil skirts.Wish I had the pattern books now that they used then.
My aunt was still knitting pencil skirts in the '60s. I have several of them...and was never slim enough (even as a teen) to fit her dresses. If I ever knit a skirt, it won't have that shape, that's for sure.
Yay soon 😍😍
Are you able to also see the chat box for live chatting?
Absolutely wonderful podcast. ❤🧶🌺
Thank you, Gloria. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great interview Billie - Sydney's vintage knitting looked as 'authentic' as it comes. Before it was more fashionable - in the 70s I used to try to adapt my grandmother's patterns to something more contemporary (for that time anyway) with only varying degrees of success - and always sizing was an issue if you didn't have a 32-34" bust - and I was never that small. Still it made me realise such things were possible and now in my 70s I still consider 30s to be the most attractive of vintage gear and eye off the dresses in particular even if my current body wouldn't slide into them with any great 'elegance'. Best wishes
Della...so glad you enjoyed it. I like your phrase "wouldn't slide into them with any great 'elegance.'" Made me chuckle.
Looking forward to this!
Julie, it's in progress now. Are you here???
Can't wait till Friday 😄
Me either! I hope you're in a time zone that is favorable.
Great interview Billie and Sydney. So interesting I've learnt so much! I'm going to look closely at old family photos for clues regarding who may have been knitters. I'm definitely going to try and knit a sweetheart sweater.
Best wishes from Sally from the UK xx
Thank you Sally from the UK! Glad to know you found it informative.
Oh Billie and Sydney, I am in awe!! thank you both so much, this was wonderful in so many ways, inspiring, heart warming, touching. I am definitely going to check out the patreon, even though I am intimidated by vintage knitting and keep sticking to modern things...it was so useful to have shown the prototype sweater on which to build on and personalize..such a lovely lovely episode! 💚🌺
Don't be intimidated. Join one of my future knit alongs and I hold your hand. You'll never look back! Glad you enjoyed this episode. I enjoyed making it for you.
@@ShowandTellknitting ❤ thank you Billie, where/how do I find your knit alongs? Barbara 🌺
@@bluejay5531 I periodically announce them on my channel. Keep an eye out....

Delightful interview. Billie, you outdid yourself on this one! Thank you. Sydney, love all the knitwear.❤
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it.
I asked my Aunty Olive (86 yo young) and she told me of a garment my grandmother knitted her for her 5th birthday (1942) it was white and red in moss stitch, short sleeved. I have tried to search for pattern but to no avail. I would love to knit this garment for my Aunty to bring that memory back of her mother. My grandmother passed 2 years later when Aunty was 7 and my father was 5.
There's a group on Ravelry called Pattern Detectives that may be able to help you find said pattern.
Thanks Billie! I wish I had some of my mom’s vintage clothing (born in 1920) that I see in photos. Not much hand-knitted. But here’s a wedding photo, 1939.
Can’t add the photo…
