Many creatures such as spiders molt as well but have much shorter lifespans. A jumping spider may live a few months in the wild, or couple years in captivity, while a tarantula male might live for 5, and a female around 20 years. Shedding exoskeletons is just one factor.

That’s actually tied to shell rot rather than “too heavy” but I understand your thought process on it. The parts of the shell that expand so they can crack out get shell rot, trapping them in their coffin.

It’s a cray fish. Also, they prefer vegetarian food but they’ll eat meat because they know if they don’t get rid of it the water will be polluted and they’ll die. They are really sensitive if you spray pesticides in your home there is a chance they’ll die or get sick. Also they’re territorial animals so they can kill each other if left alone and if you are keeping two or more of them in a tank, make sure to get a lot of hiding spots so the chances of them being killed is less.

Technically they don't shed skin they said the exoskeleton like a tarantula. Snakes do shed their skin but not like a crustacean. Because snakes do not have an exoskeleton they have an internal skeleton. So snakes do not shed like Crustaceans. Crustacean should more like tarantulas. Because after they shed their super soft and Squishy and they are extremely vulnerable at that point in time. Especially crabs lobsters they are extremely extremely vulnerable at that point in time.

So I bought a dwarf crayfish today afternoon & it had no issues at first. Then I saw it struggling a bit, coming up. The little tank was open from top so as instructed by the aquarium shop we didn’t put oxygen or filters. Mixed the same water it was first put on. But this fellow was dead or I think it is dead. I feels so sad. I have no idea hoe to tell if it is dead or not. The eyes are not cloudy. It is crawled and is at the bottom of the tank crawled up and I see no movements. Need some help!
