So glad i found your channel. I am a MT but only focus in Microbiology. I’ve always wanted to start an UA-cam but never figured out about what. I finally decided on black women in labs. When u said your QC kept failed, I FELT THAT IN MY SPIRIT!!!! Keep up the work!
Hawaii looks beautiful, loved your vlog!! I can definitely relate to the cobas frustrations. It’s the worst when monthly is due plus random qc issues - literally fighting all night to get both analyzers up 😂
your lab and work day looks so peaceful. ik this career is said to be stressful but I think you can say that for all labs and research especially if you dont enjoy that kind of work. Would you consider your average day to be peaceful? Thats the kind of work environment Id like more often than not
Definitely not peaceful, very noisy if I’m honest. When I 1st started working in the lab between phones ringing, timers going off, tube station alarming, instruments alarms, made me want to pull my hair out. Now, I’m kind of use to it and I listen to music to sooth me. Some days you never stop moving because it busy and you will have multiple things needed your attention. I have to stop and do focus breathing to calm myself when I get overwhelmed.
Your content is really amazing, I greatly appreciate the time and effort that you’ve invested into this Vlog. I am seriously considering this path for myself and your videos have really helped me grow confidence in making this decision. ❤❤❤
I’m also on night shift in Hawaii. I’m currently at Queens and it’s working perfect with my school schedule. I’m not a traveler but they are paid double what staff is making
Hi! I love your videos they really help me understand what this job is all about. I'm currently a high schooler thinking about going to my local technical college to become an MLT. Do you think this job has a chance of being taken over by AI/Robots/Computers? I'm unsure if this job will provide good job security for the future.
No I don't think that could happen since there is a lot technically work and it's all over the lab even if a machine can do one part it can't do everything so there will always be need for MLTs and if machines do some how mange to do the job there will always be need for an MLT to supervise
Medical lab assistants are god sent! Lab assistants help the MLT or MT in the lab doing stuff like QC, setting up test, helping call critical results , etc. MLA have to work under the supervision of a Lab technician, so they are limited in what they can do. For example they can not verify patient results. Also, I don’t think you need an associate degree to become a MLA, every MLA I’ve every met were phlebotomist before being promoted to MLA. You need an associates degree and have to be certificate to work in the lab as a MLT.
Hi am really hoping youll answer me. So am doing medical lab in school but am not sure this is really what i want to do cause am not sure the salary is really high. Wanted to go to nursing can you please orientate me?
Honestly I would say if youy prefer to interact with people more and like to care for people go for nursing. Lab work is really secluded and can get lonely and very boring fast
PLEASE CAN YOU GO ON THE DESKTOP AND SHOW ME HOW I CAN WORK IN AMERICA AS A FOREIGN GRADUATED NURSE STEP BY STEP REGISTRATION, BOARD, STATES, CREDENTIAL EVALUATION AND THE PAYMENTS I WILL MAKE. AM VERY INTERESTED. PLEASE HELP ME. AM WATCHING FROM GHANA
Current student here! It honestly depends on where you work. At medium/large settings, phlebotomists and nurses do it, but it’s more likely you could in a smaller setting. Either way, you are expected to when needed.
I haven’t heard that you work with patients but when I start school and my career I refuse to draw blood or learn it. I don’t want to work on people that’s why I want to work in the lab

OMG when you said it kept failing because it was a new lot, that stung lol. That happened to me once when I forgot to scan the new bc card on a cobas.

I'm doing my research on MLT. What is the difference between MLT & MLA?

What schedule do you have? 7-on-7-off? How do you balance working the night shift and social life?
Im a new subscriber. How long have you been a MLT?😊
Did you not sleep Tuesday?😭 when do you sleep?

Is Travel MLT better than stationary in terms of pay and ect.
In my opinion yes! I will definitely make a video explaining travel pay in detail.
