    Thanks for comparing them. Seeing them side by side is incredibly helpful.

    This is the best comparison that I have found. Thank you! Rec Tecs own website doesn't make this very clear.

    I ordered the Black Edition deluxe this weekend. I can’t wait for it to come in. Replacing the “standard” stainless Bullseye that I’ve had for 3 1/2 years. On the Black Edition, the hinge is offset to the left 30 degrees so no more reaching over the fire pot to open and close the lid.

      I too have the Deluxe Black and love it. Beautiful to look at. The stainless bull horns are nice. The wheels are better now. It reaches temp. amazingly fast. Will go close to 1000 degrees. Not that you'll ever need that LOL. Also, the wi-fi works great. I adjusted the temp while in a movie theater, 20 min. from home. The cover is easy to put on because it's not large. Hope you enjoy it!

    Awesome comparison. Best I've seen thus far. I'm a 380X owner and now a new subscriber. Kudos!

    I wish there was a pellet dump. Cleaning out the jammed auger is such a pain that I actually hand clean out the pellets at the end of any cooking, and then fire the grill up, so it completely empties the auger. I also use a small cast-iron frying pan. That’s no larger than the solid part of the original heat, deflector and find it is nice to catch the drippings. When you cook ribs and never get above 225 doesn’t really clean off the inside surface any so you can get a dangerous buildup of grease did you have to clean off by hand otherwise, I learned this the hard way when I got a fire inside the grill one Thanksgiving that took about 45 minutes to completely die down. Thanks so much for the video.

    • @ChefGreen
      @ChefGreen Рік тому +1

      When you say deflector - do you mean the middle of the big iron disc that sits below the grate? I’ve had two fires now so trying to figure out a grease control system for my 380x.

    • @scottwiley2222
      @scottwiley2222 Рік тому +1

      @@ChefGreen yes, should not have had a comma. I think the design is that Grace falls on to that piece and gets burned quickly. What I have found is when I’m doing ribs that unless I cut it up at the end that it never quite burns off and builds up. So what I have done is put a cast-iron skillet that fits under the meat and the diameter is no larger than the Solid central part of the heat deflector. that way when you get a buildup of grease, you just scrape out the cast-iron pan. I also know that some people with some smokers like to put some water in the smoker and you could also but water in the cast iron pan.

    Thanks for this video, I was already pretty sure I was going to buy the 380x but this video absolutely sealed the deal for me. Not quite ready to buy anything as my old Traeger is still kicking but this will 100% replace that in the next year or two.

    How is still not the standard to have a pellet dump? Pellet grills have been around for years now and all should have a pellet dump.

      It is on my 5 year old PitBoss for the price of these things that is a no brainer

  • @danshouseofsmokeandoutdoor7119

    I got the first maybe the second edition of the stainless. I was little hesitant but man I love that grill. They updated the control I live in cold climate. Only thing I have done. I did buy a stainless grate the other day. If I was going to buy today it be the deluxe but if money was tight I definitely buy another 380.

    No mention of the spring for the ash door on the 380x breaking on the first cook every time.

    Great job in the comparison. I had the 380 and purchased the 380x. I can say for me it was worth the price difference, but both do a great job!

    Being 6’7” the struggle is real. I have the RT-590 and that’s my biggest gripe. I absolutely love the grill but it’s too short.

    Nice comparison review.
    I like both of the 380’s simplicity, temperature range, and that my 22” Weber kettle accessories will work on either. One thing that concerns me is the lack of a grease management system. So with the extra space and design, I am leaning towards the 590.

      As someone who has set the 380x on fire twice, grease management would be really nice. Other than that I love it.

    What hinges you use on the 380x?

  • @dubltap7216

    I bought the 380X about a year and a half ago. It has been almost perfect. I think they should have used a cast iron grill grate. I purchased one at Amazon and it was a much needed upgrade. Also the pellet dump spring went out on the first high heat cook. Not a big deal but it would have been better if the spring held up.
    All in all I love the grill. I use the wifi everytime and never had an issue.

    I noticed that the original 380 has more louvers in the lid than mine, is that a 380x lid or a revision by rec tec?

    • @DRGCustomCarts
      @DRGCustomCarts  4 місяці тому

      The 380X should have more louvers then the original 380. A total of 17 rows on the 380X for better air flow do to the new designed firepot. Hope that helps.

      It gets hotter, with more heat, you need more ventilation.

    Are the hoppers air and moisture tight? If I store outside, am I able to keep pellets in hopper without worrying about moisture? Great video!

    • @NotSoFast71
      @NotSoFast71 17 днів тому +1

      No, they are not, but I live in south Louisiana and have had pellets in my hopper the whole 3 years I've had it and haven't had any problems. It's stored on my back porch just barely under the overhang of my roof. The wind blows rain on it and it's never been covered.

    Take my advice. We bought one of these. Don’t buy either Weber. If you’re old enough and buy one you’ll know just what I mean. Buy another model, you’ll be so much happier.

      I kind of agree I have had several grease fires in both of my 380s, I now have a better way to keep it clean but I’ve also found occasionally even without a grease fire. The temperature will jump up to 500°. Although I suppose if you had a remoteyou could at least put it in to cool down mode. Also with a new line of remote sensors that you can buy aftermarket and leave in the meat I find that is 90% of what I would use the remote monitor for anyway.
