This is more than just comedy ,it’s a work of art ,thank god for these two geniuses ,England needs them more than ever ,must be forty ,forty five years of laughs .
The genius in this sketch is that Harry and Paul had the comedic third eye to realise saying 40 - 45 years several times over would be funny , but my god is it, the two surgeons characters, accent and delivery do help as well.
Everytime somebody ANYWHERE says 40-45 in anything me and my mates break out laughing. e.g we had ordered a pizza and she said it would be about 40-45 mins, so i started going 40-45? 40-40-45? and the pizza person was like wtf? hahaha.
These two no longer the flavour of the month. I see uncomplimentary comments on some of the you tube output. Let themgo drink the sea, this is comedy gold, silly as a sack load, and brilliantly executed. Hats off to Harry and Paul and thank you. We need something to make us smile
hmm... if I do the math here, let's see... in 1 month Gavin would have sent you here 40-45 weeks ago. Or 45-40 weeks ago. Whichever takes precedent ofc.
Such is the brilliance of this clip and in particular the reference to the length of the departed Bunny's marriage, that I missed might have been a subtle dig at Armstrong and Miller. Check out Bunny's full name 👍
I love this sketch. I remember a few months ago I was at a works do in a hotel and we were talking about Harry and Paul and mentioning this sketch. We then asked how long is the bar open for and one of the lads with us just passed and said 40, 45 minutes and we cried with laughter!
I can never show this to other Americans because they always look bored to tears but I can't stop giggling. Last time I tried to show it to someone, it must've been about...
I remember the first time I saw this I ended up rolling about laughing. And now, it has had the same effect. This is brilliant comedy. These characters are perfect and the dialogue...superb! Edit: I've recently shown these 'Surgeon' clips to my daughters and they quote them non stop. Especially this classic. Oh also the 'Quare' clips. So funny. They wondered, as did I, whether it May be the same Bunny.
One thing I love about this, the characters are so endearingly drawn. In Harry and Paul's earlier stuff, there was a kind of spite against the spoilt teenagers and the slobs.
A very funny thing to do, when you watch this. Is to drink cognac or brandy every time they drink it.. as a game.. I've done that now about 40 - 45 times...
MY friend Hayley was shotgun in the car and said she was starting a new job in Newbury, I asked, innocently, how long will that take? 40 minutes? She replied 40,45. MY mate Boo in the back seat stuck his fist forward for a fistbump as we chuckled away to ourselves, and we wouldnt xplain what it meant. Once she found it, she was bang on board
Challenge - fill up your car but make sure it stops at £40.45. Record the conversation and see how many times you can say 40 45 and get the cashier to repeat it.
This series is getting better with age. They should be allowed to do more. But the BBC regularly lets all-time geniuses languish while promoting the hell out of tripe. And are then the first to air tribute nights to people they wouldn't give the time of day when they were alive.
I know a twitch channel that's addicted to this bit. They can't move on from bringing it up anytime a question that demands a number is brought up. lol I love it.
Ha ha ha ha ha ! How they kept thier feaces straight while filming this is far beyond my humble imagination ! It must have taken forever to shoot ! I'd love to see the out takes ! So funny ! 😄😄😄
Watched this on Monday evening. At a meeting on Wednesday someone mentions 40-45.. I nearly pissed myself with laughter. 40 and 45 will never be the same again!!
Their chemistry is so perfect! Seems like they’ve been working together for 40 to 45 years.
No 40...maybe 45.......
Haha
Probably 40,45,45,40,45,40 years.
I believe they first met while at college sometime shortly before 1980. How long ago would that be now?

Paul Whitehouse is a genius. You'd hardly know it was him in this sketch. He embodies the posh surgeon character completely.

The acting ability of these two is wonderful.

They do not stock Pinot Grigio in the vicinity of Harley Street. Surprising that they might have even heard of it. I had to look up Montrachet.
