  • The Genoa-Casella railway, opened in 1929, is a narrow-gauge railway which connects Genoa with its hinterland. Known for its views of beautiful landscapes, it crosses the Bisagno, Polcevera and Scrivia valleys. The track has steep gradients (max. 45 per thousand) and sharp turns. This can be deduced from the first five miles, starting from a height of 93 meters at Piazza Manin to rise to 370 meters at Trensasco.
