First ,,The witcher'', now ,,The Peasants''. I'm very happy that my Polish culture is at least a little reaching abroad and has its own little place in pop culture.
Witcher games* (or books) because netflix's witcher is an abomination
@@mrlucky9157 tbh its because netflix's adaptation is based on the books. The Witcher games are just superior.
@@mw00295 ??? Books are 100 times better than this netflix tra$h. And if not for the books there would be no games. I suggest you read them because games are basically Cdpr's homage to the books.
@@mrlucky9157 both netflix show and books suck.
@@mw00295 The main reason netflix' witcher sucks is because it strays from the source material (the books). And while opinions vary in regards to the saga (which I admit has some flaws), the two short stories books are generally considered to be great.
Also did you read them in Polish or translated to english/other language? Because it may not seem like it, but the books' main appeal, for me at least, was how they were written, and AFAIK many phrases, jokes, references etc can get lost in the translation.
absolutely breathtaking movie. deserves an oscar
Sadly it's true what was said above. To be nominated to Oscar there need to be diversity quota met (that's a requirement now). Unless they will treat the cast as minority group (as slavic). Americans have a weird way of looking at race.
eh oscars are utterly meaningless, especially when it comes to animation
@@phoearwenien4355sooo... Foreign countries need to meet quotas that only apply to usa? Seems either crazy or made up
@@phoearwenien4355 TThis is movie about Polish countryside at the turn of the 19th century, how can there be racial diversity? This is quite ridiculous, that in order to make a historical movie that could qualify for any awards we need to go with historical revisionism.
@snowdropsinapril3045 Poland during that period was a highly diverse society, with multiple ethnicities... so unified monolithic bullshit is actually revisionistic
Just watched this during the Festival de Film de Cannes a Bucarest and it was one extraordinary experience and it so resonates as well with the romanian novels and soul. Exceptional movie. well done! You cannot help yourself not thinking about this movie after you watched it. Maybe I should read the novel as well.

Yeees! I was at Union last night as well.
I kept thinking about Rebreanu's "Ion" and its plot.
I absolutely loved that novel. And I for sure am deeply impressed with this movie also.
The soundtrack is breathtaking, as well as the traditions and mentalities depicted here. I went home blasting in my earphones all the songs used in this movie, not wanting to let go of all the beauty, the brutality, and the ethereal emotions that were presented to me last night.
Simply amazing!!
The novel is called "The Peasants" in English but I am sure that there is also Romanian translation because it was written in XIX century and it is one of the most important novel for Polish literature. It is sometimes called "Epos of Polish nation".

Ed O.G. & Da Bulldogs - Love Comes & Goes
The whole point of the movie is to prove this bs wrong
“Loving Vincent” was one of the most sumptuous theatrical experiences I’ve ever had. I cannot wait for this.
This is better, based in a Nobel Awarded story. I am proud of this so much 🇵🇱
This is much much better. Cannot even compare
And this is much much much better and far superior to "Vincent". The Peasants is a true artistry, a masterpiece that contains many cultural and artistic elements of the magnificent Polish culture. Watching this beautiful movie has been a truly extraordinary and deep experience. We absolutely love it. ❤
Poland the magnificent and unique, the most beautiful. This is the masterpiece, pure love, pure beauty.

The music is a truly magnificent and a movie is the masterpiece. Amazing Polish culture.
Resonates with me - slovakian motives and stories are the same cause we are neighbors😊. So yes, I understand - land stays... Looking forward to see it!
Much respect for Dorota Kobiela (DK Welchman) - from stunning visual artist to brilliant filmmaker. One of the great ones working today along with her equally genius husband, Hugh Welchman. Cannot wait to see this.
If the presentation of very conservative village women as street walkers of past era is a brilliant artistic achievement.

Visually beautifully done, but brutal. Loving Vincent was ethereal
It's different because it's inspired by a different art style and a Nobel winning book. Read the novel.
Wtf? This story isn't about that at all, and not much is shown in the trailer anyway. This is a story based on a book written over 100 years ago and awarded with the Nobel Prize. It shows the life of peasants in the Polish countryside at the beginning of the 20th century, the position of women at that time and the role of the respect for land and family rooted deeply in peasant culture, all subordinated to the rhythms of the constantly changing and returning seasons.
I assume you're judging from the trailer only? Well, you couldn't be more wrong. It's based on polish classic novel "Chłopi" by Władysław Reymont and the story line is far from what you expect. It is pretty depressing, though.
There are 4 main storylines in the book, as many as calendar seasons. Jagna and Boryna marriage is just one of them. It's depressing book about reality of Polish peasants from XX century
Even in the trailer you can hear Jagna complain that she cannot decide about her own marriage. Where did you get the idea that she married that old guy out of love?
Idiotyzm

They didn't get into the Oscars because of the new racist law in the US. Real shame.
Oni to oskra zgłosili XD to już lepiej znachora by dali
Rozumiem, że to żart.
No chyba nie.
