    PRS is not a cheap guitar by any means, but it feels like it’s easier to justify its price when you see their craftsmanship and their attention to the details on their products. Something that modern day Gibson lacks of imo.

    PRS will always earn respect. To build a brand and earn respect on a market full of traditionalist is an achievement for few men.
    By the way, Gibson LP are to me the most beautiful single cut guitars, but these PRS SC surely have a place in my heart.

      I agree with you, something about the lines of a Les Paul are stunning to me.
      If for some reason I couldn't own a Les Paul the PRS Single cut or even a DGT would be next on my list.
      I have plenty of Gibson and Fender guitars and love them both, however the Fenders are more of a tool for me while the Les Paul guitars are more like art. (IMHO)

    Very cool video, really enjoyed this. I would love to see more of the colors/color combinations from PRS (or other builders), and would love, even more, to see a variety of the different, unique, and less frequently used, exotic top woods, fret board woods, and body or neck woods. As a builder who has always been willing to push the envelope for my customers, and surprise others, often these novel wood choices end up exceeding their expectations, in terms of aesthetic visual beauty and tonal beauty.

    12:16 PRS doesn't just do 25" scale lengths, especially in their singlecuts. A lot of those have a 24.5" scale, so actually a slight bit shorter than the Gibson standard. Any guitar with a "245" in the model name has the 24.5" scale, along with most of the McCarty guitars (the actual McCarty guitar models, not just the "McCarty Sunburst / Tobacco Sunburst" finishes), the Santanas, and several others. And the Silver Sky models are 25.5", along with the Fiore. The 509 actually has a 25.25" scale length. And of course they do a longer scale length for their baritone or 7-string models (26.5" or 27.7" depending on model).

    I have the SE single cut from when they started that line with moon inlays and recently purchased a SE Starla and played the SE standard 24, all with different pickups.
    PRS makes great sounding pickups based on vintage pickups but with more consistent sound, more clarity and even tone so you have to find one that fits you. My favorites are the 58/15 for crunch and Starla double slug pickups for that airy, shimmer with some bass too but my single cut was before they offered the “S” series pickups in the line (58/15S for example) so it sounds kinda like the Tremonti but I love it and it has its uses. Pickups in it meant for mid range crunch and the bass guitar handles the low end but I won’t change it unless PRS offer the low turn pickups based on the vintage LP then I might upgrade to those.
    Build quality in all for $500 USD is amazing. The red flame veneer on my single cut is beautiful. The gig bags are great too but the standard SE doesn’t come with one.

      I've been a Troglodyte for almost 8 years now.
      When the Wife and I first started watching I tried to convince her that I should sell guitars for a living so I could better satisfy my "GAS" problem. My Wife absolutely forbade me from trying. She told me I'm already good at buying guitars, it's the selling of them I never get around to.
      Truth be told it takes a special person to buy and sell something like guitars, for myself I just seem to get attached to each them.
      Also, I'm not much of a Salesman either, what do I know, I'm just a guitar player!

    Got my first US made prs custom 24 10 top this year through some trading and stuff. I liked the SE I had in the past and was really interested in the waring ce at the time though that fell through. The look and quality of these US models is just stellar. I don't know if it's my favorite guitar I own but I would definitely have no issue recommending a higher cost prs to most of the other brands out there.

    Didn’t read all the comments. But there’s the normal core tops which are usually still quite nice, 10-tops, artist grade tops, and then private stock tops.
    People think that wood library is a level of top. But it’s not. The dealer just picks out the exact pieces of wood out of the wood library at the factory. And they have the option of picking different woods, such as maybe a swamp ash body. And more color and inlay options too. In theory the dealer could pick a more basic top for a wood library. They obviously normally don’t. But they could.
    Afaik they have also discontinued the artist package. But I think those tops are available in the wood library.

      And the nuts are brass infused graphite.
      Also the strap buttons are like bass string trees. When Paul was still repairing guitars he got tired of repairing broken necks and headstocks. So he started putting those on to help.

    One of my dream guitars is a PRS Singlecut 10-Top Charcoal Burst with a roasted maple neck and fretboard. I've just never seen one in that spec for sale. There's a Custom 24 on Reverb right now that is very close, but it's an SE.

    • @mikeomatic9905
      @mikeomatic9905 3 роки тому

      I have a Custom 24 with a roasted maple neck. Unfortunately, you'll have to upgrade to a Wood Library to get any of the Core models with a maple neck. And I don't see any on reverb right now that are SCs, but they do have Cu24's, Cu22's, and Paul's Guitars with roasted maple necks.

    • @AceSeptre

      @@mikeomatic9905 I've seen a few Cu24 Wood Library with roasted maple necks, but none that also have a roasted maple fretboard. There is one with a roasted maple fretboard but it's a Private Stock with an atrocious finish and a stoptail which wouldn't be my first choice.

    • @mikeomatic9905
      @mikeomatic9905 3 роки тому

      @@AceSeptre Keep looking! My Cu24 has a roasted maple fretboard as well, one of the reasons I jumped at it when I saw it a few years ago. Quilted Autumn Sky top, 58/15LTs, and semi hollow to boot. Somehow still just considered a Wood Library, so still the WL price. They do exist. I wish I knew why PRS was so adverse to them though. (My only complaint is that there isn’t much contrast between the fretboard and the birds. I kind of wish they were black brush stroke birds.)

    • @AceSeptre
      @AceSeptre 3 роки тому

      @@mikeomatic9905 I'll just have to keep checking Reverb or some of the better shops. I'm sure one is floating around somewhere. I would hate to think that Private Stock is my only option. Although, it would at least give me some options on the inlay and the top. I don't even want to venture to guess how far backed up they are on Private Stock orders though. At least a year or more?

    As for the tuners, most good quality tuners use a brass gear because it's self lubricating when paired with a steel gear. You just can't usually see them like you can on the PRS tuners.

    • @roberth6614
      @roberth6614 3 роки тому

      You can always replace the pickups on a guitar to achieve the sound your looking for, just look at how many Gibson LP’s Trogly has reviewed that don’t have the original pickups in them! No guitar manufacturer can make everyone happy with their pickups and isn’t the reality that we buy a guitar for it’s overall appearance? People rarely try out a guitar that doesn’t catch their eye.
