    • @doodiescrochet
      @doodiescrochet  2 роки тому +8

      ah i’m a newbie to Etsy and only opened my shop not too long ago !! but i know the fees are really hurting other businesses right now, so it’s definitely worth considering that too when pricing your items 🥲

    • @capricornstitches
      @capricornstitches Рік тому +9

      I’ve found Shopify to be great but the $29 a month was a little much. There’s a definitely a learning curve with them. I moved over to square recently because of the free card reader that I was going to buy for art walks anyways and the cheaper monthly fee that’s optional (basically just a bunch of features). I hated Etsy they took all my money and I was making $4-10 less than my listing pricing every time 🥲

    • @doodiescrochet
      @doodiescrochet  Рік тому +9

      @@capricornstitches yeah it's useful to compare different selling platforms if you're concerned about the monthly fees, personally i didn't have the budget when starting out so something simple like BigCartel for free was a gift !! so many love square space if you can pay monthly fees though, and i didn't know about the card reader so thank you for sharing here 😊
      for those who can't afford monthly fees, they can also consider online marketplaces like depop, ebay etc. but again just be wary of fees when pricing !

    With clothing would you charge more for larger sizes? Because they need more yarn. Only I have made a small cardigan with half the amount of yarn balls and I wouldn't have to charge too much, but I made one in a larger Size and if I charged the same as the small I'd make no profit x

    • @doodiescrochet
      @doodiescrochet  Рік тому +3

      ah yeah that totally makes sense !! personally i don’t charge extra, and i know a few other businesses that don’t because they increase their price so that costs of materials / labour are not effected
      but of course it’s your decision, and materials should always be included ☺️

    Thank you so much for making this video! I’ve been crocheting for about 6 months and it’s always been my dream to start my own business. I live in Bangladesh so getting good supplies is tricky. One thing I’m really confused about is what I should sell. I have a couple in mind such as AirPod/ earphone holder, flower coasters, bookmarks, pouches, and keychains. Would those be good starter items? I also picked these because they don’t take me a lot of time and I’m currently in school so I want things that I can make quickly.

    Where did you apply for your LLC

    • @doodiescrochet
      @doodiescrochet  2 роки тому +3

      thank you, happy to help where i can !! i believe LLC is a US term but speaking as someone based in the UK:
      my business isn’t registered as a limited company, instead i’m registered with HMRC as a sole trader (self-employed) since it’s just me behind the brand
      registering as a limited company does help with tax as i believe you pay less income tax if you are, although since my earnings are low / manageable right now, i don’t feel the need for any of those tax benefits or having liability in case of any losses
      sorry i don’t have much experience with registering as a limited company so i can’t comment on the process, but i would register if my earnings where above a certain threshold or i wanted security in case of any losses
      i hope this long response helps ! 😅

I am worried about my patterns being copied even though i have mostly done very common things (scrunchies, cat hats, bunny beanies) ive checked with creators to make sure i can sell more specific things but would you say its okay to make the scrunchies from what i think is the correct way that i like to make them and sell them without asking anyone? can i sell crochet amigurumis on vinted?

    • @doodiescrochet
      @doodiescrochet  Рік тому +1

      hi Inaya ☺️ sadly i don’t specialise in amigurumi, but i’d assume it would be tricky because of Vinted’s rules and with regulations for toys !

      @@doodiescrochet oh okay, tysm for the help, but do u know the exact regulations for the toys? ive been trying to find out, but have not found anything. :) tysm for your help. x

      @@BubutheBallerInDaHouse i'm not too educated on toys, but someone in the comments did mention to check out CE and UKCA regulations (apparently there's helpful support groups on facebook too) also look into trading standards where you're based, because there's things like safety tests !

      @@BubutheBallerInDaHouse it obviously depends where you're based, but for me the only platform is Vinted, of course though i've had problems with handmade items there and so i don't recommend them for long-term use !
