Hey! I went to Cinergy in Tulsa last month and played that game!! I had no idea it was so rare when I played it. It was pretty meh. But I can confirm that as of last month it was still there! Next time I'm in Tulsa (my family lives there, I'm in Chicago) I can try to get footage! let me know if you would like to hear about the gameplay.

Interesting video. A Mario Party arcade game definitely feels at home in an arcade just like the Mario Kart one. Here's my speculation onto the changes I saw throughout the video:
    - The game looking too much like roulette. Gambling is definitely frowned upon in the US for kids so it makes sense a revamp would be in order. But if it was stripped down to a fraction of what it was to appeal to the US standards, would it even be the same game anymore? Maybe it was too much effort trying to 'localize' it for a western audience.
    - The game switching from 6 players to 3 players. My first thought about this was needing space. Lets say a Pac-Man arcade cabinet takes 1 square of space. Then you need another square of space for the player for a total of 2 square spaces. If this game needs space for 6 players, that's 6 squares, and seeing how this arcade is much bigger than a Pac-Man arcade cabinet, you'd need at least 4 squares. That's 10 squares. That's already 5x the required space in an arcade place to accommodate needing 6 people, the machine, and the space to move in and out. So to reduce the game to 3 players means you can stick other arcade units to the side or behind it, or even in a corner.
    - Removal of the screens and replaced with button(s). Definitely reduces the cost of producing each unit, but also any repairs for each screen. Another thing to note is that the age demographic between Japan and the US is different, with arcades being more targeted towards a younger audience. If the game was reduced to a single button, then you open the range of players to just about any age. Of course this obvious has the downside of removing a lot of charm from the game, but if you were running an arcade business, you'd want to make sure the cabinets and units you buy/rent are being played to justify the cost. I'm not saying kids couldn't figure out the original arcade game with the screens, it's more of a way of making the game accessible to a larger audience.

I wish they made it because it would’ve been a really interesting way to play Mario party. Before watching this, one of my ideas of why it was cancelled because the parties might go on forever and might not be fair to other players. I also though it would be a big arcade machine, but I guess not

My guess on how it worked:
After inserting a credit or scanning your game card, the game would randomly pick a minigame that can be played with a single button. If you succeeded, you got tickets, and it would choose another one. The game would end if you failed a minigame or reached the max number of tickets.

I went to the Kalahari Resort once and they had an arcade, one of the machines being Mario Party Challenge World. There were only three player spots available, and I didn't actually play the game since I had limited funds but it seemed to lack minigames so I didn't feel like it was worth my time and money. It was really interesting to see though, because I'd never seen a Mario Party arcade machine before.

I went to tulsa and played this today. It's pretty basic but the experience surrounding it was fun. It's almost basically a BOARD game "roll" 1-10 every time you move closer to bowser by said score. The next roll will not have that number but a rock crush guy. There are several mini games you can land on which all are forms of button (singular)mashing. Fun, yes! But not hour worthy.

I had never heard of this machine before (and I'm a fan of Mario Party), but then again I live in Florida with the only local arcade that's not a drive or a side thing like in a bowling alley being Dave & Busters so it's no surprise that combined with its limited release I'd never heard of it before.

There are tons of Mario and Donkey Kong arcade games. Here are all of the Mario and Donkey Kong arcade games.
*Donkey Kong* (1981) - The first ever game with Mario in it. Mario's naming is inconsistent - while the actual cabinet and manual use the name Jumpman, the American arcade brochure uses the name Mario. 60,000 cabinets were sold.
*Donkey Kong Junior* (1982) - The sequel to Donkey Kong, and one of the only Mario games where Mario is the enemy. The Japanese release uses the name Donkey Kong Jr. on the title screen. 30,000 cabinets were sold.
*Mario Bros.* (1983) - The first Mario arcade game without Donkey Kong in it. Also the first Mario arcade game with simultaneous co-op!!
*Donkey Kong 3* (1983) - The first Donkey Kong arcade game without Mario in it. It is also a shooting game instead of a platforming game. Because of this, the game wasn't as successful and only sold 5,000 cabinets.
*VS. Pinball* (1984) - Gameplay is mostly the same as the NES version, but there are also many differences, most notably the addition of music.
*Golf* (PlayChoice-10, 1986) - Literally just the NES version with a time limit.
*VS. Stroke & Match Golf* (1984) - Gameplay is mostly the same as the NES version, but there are also many differences, most notably the addition of music. There is also a ladies' version where you play as a woman instead of Mario.
*VS. Wrecking Crew* (1984, Japan-exclusive) - Gameplay is mostly the same as the later NES version, but there are also many differences. Unlike the NES version, the arcade version was exclusive to Japan.
*Mario Bros.* (1986, PlayChoice-10) - Literally just the NES version with a time limit.
*Super Mario Bros.* (1986, PlayChoice-10) - Literally just the NES version with a time limit.
*VS. Super Mario Bros.* (1986) - A completely different game than the original NES game, VS. Super Mario Bros. is much more difficult. VS. Super Mario Bros. got its first Japanese and European releases on the Wii Virtual Console. There is a bootleg of the game called VS. Skate Kid Bros. which was made by a company called TBS.
*Super Mario Bros. 2* (1988, PlayChoice-10) - Literally just the NES version with a time limit.
*Dr. Mario* (1990, PlayChoice-10) - Literally just the original NES version with a time limit. The prototype version is called Virus.
*VS. Dr. Mario* (1990) - Gameplay is mostly the same as the NES version.
*Super Mario Bros. 3* (1990, PlayChoice-10) - Literally just the NES version with a time limit.
*Mario's Open Golf* (1991, PlayChoice-10) - Literally just the NES version with a time limit. Weirdly, the title is more similar to the Japanese version (Mario Open Golf) rather than the international version (NES Open Tournament Golf) despite being based on the USA version.
*Super Mario World* (1991, Nintendo Super System) - Gameplay is mostly the same as the SNES version, but there are also many differences, most notably the ability to start from any world in the game.
*Piccadilly Circus: Super Mario Bros. 3* (1991, Konami, Japan-exclusive) - A version of Konami's medal game Piccadilly Circus with a Super Mario Bros. 3 theme.
*Mini Piccadilly: Super Mario Bros. 3* (1991, Konami, Japan-exclusive) - A smaller version of Konami's medal game Piccadilly Circus with a Super Mario Bros. 3 theme.
*Mario Roulette* (1991, Konami, Japan-exclusive) - A medal roulette game based on Super Mario World.
*Mini Piccadilly: Super Mario World* (1991, Konami, Japan-exclusive) - A smaller version of Konami's medal game Piccadilly Circus with a Super Mario World theme.
*Mario World* (1991, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - A medal roulette game based on Super Mario World.
*Super Mario World Popcorn Vending Machine* (1991, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - A popcorn vending machine based on Super Mario World.
*Super Mario World Round and Round Mario* (1991, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - A medal roulette game based on Super Mario World.
*Television-Phone: Super Mario World* (1992, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - A game based on Super Mario World using a fake phone as a controller. The software has not been emulated.
*Super Mario Bros.* (1992, Gottlieb, USA-exclusive) - A pinball machine based on Super Mario World, even though it is just called Super Mario Bros. This was the first pinball machine from Gottlieb to have a dot matrix display. 4,200 tables were sold.
*Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World* (1992, Gottlieb, USA-exclusive) - A mini pinball machine/ticket redemption game based on Super Mario Bros. 3.
*Super Mario World: Koopa Extermination* (1993, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - A ball-throwing game based on Super Mario World, where you must hit a Bowser target.
*Super Mario World: Buzzing Mario* (1993, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - Based on Super Mario World. A kid's ride made to look like a Yoshi egg with a video minigame built-in. The software has not been emulated, but there are videos of it on UA-cam.
*Super Mario World* (1993, Fabtek, USA-exclusive) - A ticket redemption game based on Super Mario World.
*Mario Sports Festival* (1993, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - A sports game using a dance pad as a controller. The software has not been emulated, but there are videos of it on UA-cam.
*Super Mario Kart Heart-Pounding Race* (1994, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - A medal racing game based on Super Mario Kart.
*Super Mario Attack* (1996, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Super Mario World. The software has not been emulated.
*Super Mario 64* (1996, Maygay, Europe-exclusive) - A slot machine (or "fruit machine" as the British call it) based on Super Mario 64.
*Donkey Kong* (1996, Maygay, Europe-exclusive) - A slot machine (or "fruit machine" as the British call it) based on Donkey Kong Country, even though it is just called Donkey Kong.
*Mario Kart 64* (1996, Maygay, Europe-exclusive) - A slot machine (or "fruit machine" as the British call it) based on Mario Kart 64.
    *Heart-Pounding Mario Chance!* (2003, Banpresto, Japan-exclusive) -
*Super Mario Ching-Ching Land of Mystery* (2003, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Super Mario Bros. 3.
*Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong Junior/Mario Bros.* (2004, Namco, USA-exclusive) - A compilation release of the first three Mario arcade games. Because Nintendo was out of the arcade business, they licensed the games to Namco, who made this compilation.
*Super Mario Rolling Party of Mystery* (2004, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Mario Party 5.
*Donkey Kong: Jungle Fever* (2005, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.
*Super Mario Rolling Party of Mystery 2* (2005, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Mario Party.
*Mario Kart Arcade GP* (2005, Namco) - A completely unique Mario Kart game. Because this game was made by Namco, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Blinky are playable.
*Donkey Kong: Banana Kingdom* (2006, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and the sequel to Donkey Kong: Jungle Fever.
*Mario Kart Arcade GP 2* (2007, Bandai Namco Entertainment) - A completely unique Mario Kart game, and the sequel to Mario Kart Arcade GP. Because this game was made by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Blinky, and Mametchi are playable.
*Mario Party Mysterious Rolling Catcher* (2009, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Mario Party 8.
*New Super Mario Bros. Wii Coin World* (2011, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
*Mario Party Spinning! Carnival* (2012, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Mario Party 8.
*Mario Party Mysterious Rolling Catcher 2* (2013, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal game based on Mario Party 8, and the sequel to Mario Party Mysterious Rolling Catcher.
*Mario Kart Arcade GP DX* (2013, Bandai Namco Entertainment) - A completely unique Mario Kart game, and the third in the Mario Kart Arcade GP series. Because this game was made by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Pac-Man (using his appearance from the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures cartoon) and Don-Chan are playable.
*Luigi's Mansion Arcade* (2015, Capcom) - A rail shooting game based on Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. The game was released internationally in 2017. This is the first arcade game where the main character is Luigi.
*Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Arcade Edition* (2016, Sega) - An arcade port of the Wii U/3DS game Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The controllers are two giant joysticks. In some events, you need to run or jump. Some characters need to be unlocked in the Japanese version, while these characters are already unlocked in the international version.
*Mario Party Mysterious Challenge World* (2016, Capcom, Japan-exclusive) - A medal roulette game based on Mario Party 9. An American version from Raw Thrills was tested in 2017, but cancelled. The American version can still be found in some locations.
*Mario Kart Arcade GP VR* (2017, Bandai Namco Entertainment) - A completely unique Mario Kart game, and the fourth in the Mario Kart Arcade GP series. This is the only (non-cancelled) Mario arcade game to not be given a wide release, with the game being exclusive to VR Zone locations. Unlike all other Mario Kart games, this game is played in first-person, and players have to wear a virtual reality headset. Only four characters are playable, with each cabinet being assigned to a character: Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Yoshi.
*Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Arcade Edition* (2020, Sega) - An arcade port of the Switch game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Unlike the arcade version of Rio 2016, which used two giant joysticks, this game controls with two buttons. In some events, you still need to run or jump.

I actually found this game in the wild and play it and it was quite fun.
Edit: I realized I should’ve talked about the game play and it’s basically timing to hit dice blocks so you can land on space that higher your score so you can get more tickets and trying to avoid spaces that will end your run. There’s also some roadblocks, mini games, and bosses that all revolved around timing your button presses and a final fight with bowser at the end. There’s also no real multiplayer you can just see what all the others players are doing because you’re all using the same screen just segmented. But yeah it was fun but somewhat of a far cry from what Japanese version appears to be. Also the location I found it in was place called “Kalahari” in Ohio Sandusky so if you live in that area I recommend finding the machine, if they still have it!

When it comes to Mario Party in arcade, the only thing I can imagine is a coin pusher; even if there are already tons of Mario Party arcades out there.
I can see why this failed to make it out of Asia. Having the game in its original form for US players would have came off as being gambling targeted towards kids; which has become a big deal since the loot-box fiasco of EA Battlefront 2. Not to mention the size and complexity of properly fixing the unaltered version would have been a pain for smaller arcades; especially since arcades are a shadow of their former selves in the US (even with their recent small resurgence). However, their attempts to make it more preferable for the tastes of US gamers just did not work out.

That they initially kept the roulette (albeit simplified) and dropped the single player minigames aspect in the adaptation is somewhat weird to me. If either was going to get dropped entirely you'd have thought it would be the other way round.

So I felt very stupid there as I should have recognized it sooner.

A Mario Party Arcade game based on what appears to be Mario Party 9 and 10-like board mechanics? No wonder it failed to get released stateside.

No expert on Japanese but I think the title might more accurately be translated as Mario Party Challenge World of Mystery. 'no' in Japanese is similar to 'of' in English with the word order reversed (so the words after 'no' in Japanese are Challenge World and the word before is Mystery). I've also noticed a lot of times the localization teams will choose to remove 'of' as it may sound better or if nothing else shorter than a more accurate translation.
