It's a reference to the kitsune (a Japanese fox spirit that steals the looks of others). The bit about the mask is that her face is not hers and therefore her emotions are wholly disconnected from her physicality. It's causing some kind of weird ego death and making her...unhinged.
Her character story details ingame say that the mask is that of a puppeteer and the longer the mask is worn the more sentience the mask gains, until it gains enough sentience to become human. However its also stated that sparkle does not wish to become human, but then again her word can really be trusted since she states “what better stage is there than the stage of your own life?”, so its hard to tell if what she says is truth or not and how much of that is actually true.

I like how the character went from MOST HATED character due to the story, to the Hype of the month haha, this is so bizarre...
This just shows that she's a GOOD character. I find her similar to Hisoka from HxH, they're both problematic and despicable, but yet very entertaining!
I mean, the only one who hated her is Twitter, who's mad because she acted like a villain, even though she is one. Other than them, we all love her craziness.

@@xenoemblem7 Dude, no offense. That means Elation-type characters are not your preference. If you don't like Sparkle, you most likely don't see the appeal in Sampo as well. You may avoid Aventurine and Black Swan too who are also master manipulators and tend to hide a lot of secrets. They are chaotic. A kuudere is the complete opposite of Sparkle's personality type. Try to find the appeal even in characters you don't vibe with and outside your zone, to better understand the appeal.
Sparkle is the same VA as Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus, the ending here is referencing both the last scene of TADC and the Last Supper.

I might be miss remembering, but I do remember people who use quantum basically can change reality.
I remember seeing it in the silver wolf story ( when she was trying to hack the space station ) and her home planet have people like treating life like some kind of equation to solve, like a big game that they can play, by using quantum. So Sparkles probably got messed up by the element, she wheeled, making her feel like she can control anything and everything around her with quantum

I did not look at anything related to Penacony pre-release, I was sure she was going to be cute and innnocent based on her design. I was not prepared when she started acting like a crazy during the main quest and with every thing they release about Sparkle she seems more & more deranged
