Just upgraded to Dji digital. Two air units(one with new smaller one screw cam) one vista, using air unit cam, is installed on a Source one v3 4s....... my world is rocked. I'm just flying around.... its like I'm new! Not freestyling, I'm overly immersed to the point of mega awe. Don't know when it will change, but this is utterly unreal. Thanks for the videos.
This is so helpful!!! Almost every question that I've had got answered here. As I just bought the system. We need more real world situation addressing videos that list stuff people will run into. Cheers Nurk
im pretty new to FPV and have recently got the Iflight Titan H3 with th DJI system.... i love it, made a massive difference to me when i fly, i can now see the ground and don't hit it... the only issue i have with the goggles is the battery packs... i use a fat shark case with two 18650's but its not ideal, yet......
I know you still have fun and have not ruined your hobby and freedoms by being a pro. Always great that what you fly is for a reason mostly to get the shots... Racing not included.
I doubt it will be much cheaper than what you can already buy it from China right now going on DJI's history. I got the full fly more combo tx/rx/goggles for $800USD the other day.
I love the transmitter too, not a single problem with it. I never thought it would replace my x9d/crossfire setup, but it has. 0 setup, 0 issues. Love the system in whole, it's awesome.
Nice job! Agree...So far I'm loving the DJI FPV System (just getting started in FPV) and that its also compatible with Caddx Vista (as I just bought a BetaFPV 9X) as well. Everything can be bound to my DJI FVP Goggles and RC so I'm not switching gear all the time. Wish DJI would improve those MMCX Connectors though (mine broke off 1st crash). Someone recommended soldering a piece of wire to it to pull it out (I'll have to try next time).
Thanks for this. I just don't understand the people who say they hate DJI and have no good reason when you ask them. Thanks for explaining your pros and cons.
Nice review. Couldn't agree more with all of your points. I was an early adopter as well and have enjoyed watching it evolve over the last year and am looking forward to see how some of the current challenges get worked out. Cheers!
I am just a week into owning DJI and all of the things you said good and bad I totally agree with love your stuff keep pumping out that content 100k is your man DO IT!!
I understand your point and maybe that is the case, the only thing that makes me think they may get the Goggles 2 compatible with the "old" air units is that they made the Goggles V2 compatible with the Avata, and following your thought this would not be done for everyone to buy a new equipment!
Great review...all valid points. DJI haters are whining but one needs to consider this is DJI'S first foray into digital FPV. Future releases from DJI will only improve and expand capabilities.
@@NURKFPV As a new drone flyer I enjoy your channel. You are obviously very knowledgable about drones. I was one of many 1000's who bought the Xiaomi Mi4K drone. It was released several years ago now and many users are in need of batteries. Therein lies a big problem as the Mi4K drone uses a special battery only made by Xiaomi. It appears Xiaomi has stopped producing them and existing inventories at retailers are all sold out. I have searched far and wide for weeks trying to find batteries to no avail. The odd one can be found on Ebay but they are ridiculously priced at $400. (probably old inventory too) which was nearly the cost of entire drone. No one would pay such a price-gouging price. There are no aftermarket batteries or other alternatives I am aware of to use in place of the original. My thought is to disassemble the Mi4k drone battery and replace the battery. In a video called "mi drone battery burn.." by AK Experiment world at about 12:50 the Mi4K battery can be seen in pieces. It has 4 thin 4.35V cells 5100mAh to make up the battery which new is 17.4 V, 5100mAh. Are such Lipo cells available (source ?) and could one make such a battery replacement?
Nice video mate I just got my DJI goggles for my birthday. New to FPV and quads, used too fly helicopters years ago. Love the channel keep the work up🙂👍🏻
First flight ever on hd was your DJI setup at Bloomfield. It locked out and I disarmed and your quad fell atleast 50ft straight down... will never forget that moment. Thought for sure I just destroyed your early release quad😬. I really do appreciate you allowing us to try it out and the time being around you was awsome! It’s so cool your down to earth about everything. 2021 we will be on the same podium( as long as you stay in indy😂, had the shot at the air-force museum but first race nerves got me)
The only surprise in there was you're using the stock padding for goggles. You should try the aftermarket ones. Fix the light leakage and far softer and more comfortable. Also loved the fact you mentioned the lip on the MMCX connector. Is annoying how those pop out so easy..
I found it worked great for racing with some timing system imperfections. Made a video about running the Multigp qualifier all on digital this year on my channel.
its nice knowing even pros like yourself make mistakes and crash, specifically the flying over water for example. thanks for the water bottle tip too lol
100% upgrading the antennas made a BIG diff for me, flying at 1200mw. I upgraded from stock DJI goggle and Caddx Vista air unit antennas to TrueRC LHCP singularities on both goggle and Caddx. The difference was amazing. I got 1.3km down a beach with stock antennas, signal getting low and when I turned the quad around to come back the quad dropped out of the sky. With TrueRC, I still had 50MBs going both directions at the same spot. At 2km still 50MBs. Didn’t fancy testing further, but I don’t worry about signal often anymore. It may be that the extra height of the 7cm Air unit antenna is what made most the difference. But either way, I am now happy and was disappointed before. And they look heaps better!!
Flo-Rida FPV sure I’ll do it using a car in 700mw, to have more real world result, myself, the video I saw the stock and the patch gave the same result!
At 1200mw aftermarket antennas make a big difference . I get huge signal drop and frame drops in one area where l fly with the stock antennas. With the pagodas i get almost no loss in the same place and yes l have done back to back testing. I didnt notice a difference between the pagodas and true rc singularities
It would be interesting to test what kind of serial data is in the USB-C cable. As you may know lots of professional video equipment uses SDI or serial digital interface with BNC connectors. Maybe an adaptor could be built.
I love the DJI FPV system too. Just wish for a couple additions to the system: 1: A 10-25mw HDMI-to-VTX. This way you could plug in your PC (simulator) and broadcast to goggles. 2: Type C to HDMI support for the goggles. This way you can output goggles' video directly to a monitor. For industrial use, You could just hand a spare pair of goggles to the producer. They can use the HDMI as needed. 3: More elements supported via OSD (for iNav Planes) 4: Better handling of signal loss - for Digital & Analog. 5: (Perhaps the most important) Support audio on goggles! I want to hear the quad from the goggles. Again, pipe-dreams but all of these are extremely do-able.
This ! The lack of HDMI output (and no, the 750$ Smart Controller doesn't count...) is what has been holding me from purchasing DJI's system. I fly with friends and family often, not being able to lend them a spare pair of goggles and share the experience is a no-go for me. HDMI-in would be great too, as would audio support. If Shark Byte is priced adequately (i.e. price of SB system + HDO2
Nurk, great video! I am coming near my one-year point as well, obviously no where near the Qty of flights but I about 100% agree with your opinions. I standardized on the Caddx, because of size retro-ing into micros (Acrobrat 1, SPC Maker FIre 95, GEPRc Hummingbird 110 and the iFlight IH2 120) or because I have a GoPro or Runcam 5 on other builds. I love the setup. Cheers!
Good video, I agree 100% with it. This has basically been my experience with it too. I love the digital goggles and have no regret about getting it, but there is absolutely room for improvement.
as much as I love technology and wanna fly digital. I will hold back on the DJI system and wait for some other systems. I am just not a huge fan of DJI. they kinda are like Apple in many ways. and I'm sure Fatshark and skyzone will get a variable solution in the near future!
As a new comer to FPV all I knew was the DJI goggles from the beginning. I didn't even know what "light leak" was. To me it was, "where is my radio leak"... 😆😆😆
You said the antennas pop out because of the lip on the air unit. Just flip the air unit upside down avoiding the lip. I’ve never had it pop out that way even after multiple crashes.
I do slightly regret not starting with the DJI FPV system. I just wish it wasn't such a closed ecosystem. FWIW I really don't like my HDO2s, when they are in focus, my eyelashes hit the lenses and the lenses hit my forehead if I put them up. I will, no doubt, pick up the DJI gear eventually, I just hope the pros outweigh the cons.
Aye bro, your videos are cool and informative as hell. I subscribed from the first video i saw of yours (the explorer lr review). I don't know who wouldnt subscribe. Anyway, I Just dipped my toe into fpv and got a tinyhawk 2. Have done a ton of research these last 2 weeks (a lot from your channel) and decided that digital (DJI) is the way to go for me because I'm not so tech savvy and the ease of use thing seems right up my alley, lol. But also DJI seem to be the leading innovators in the industry. I love camera drones also tho which is what I started with (zino pro) and I plan to get a skydio 2. I want to freestyle very well thats all. I'm a few days into this so far and I haven't really crashed much and I'm thinking about the simulator but I don't wanna but a controller just to do it. Anyway sorry to run on in your comments. Keep posting amazing content especially like that train video from a few years ago. That was DOPE as hell bro. You a beast for that one.
Good video! I'm still on analog and don't really see myself going digital because I'm mostly flying race quads (if not actually going to races this year). But maybe I'll jump into it sometime just for the experience.
What about long range mountain surfing? Seems like pilots like Jet fpv or Gab707 are not really convinced about this system for that kind of flying. Also what's your opinion about the closed ecosystem of DJI?
I would love if they made the smart controller compatible with control link and video feed for the air unit. Might open even more applications up by doing that
mate..good job...i like ur vids :) i m flying more than 8 years...3d helis ..and last 3 -4 years i fly drones also...i just got a 6s beast with dji goggles and new radio with crossfire...love it ...just curious why should i change the stock antennas of goggles? whats the differense with the aftermarket? range or quality of image? both? thanks.
Interesting video. Concerning the price...BUT we do not all fly on TBS unify and top of the range analog stuff. For instance, I have one rig out of 5 with tbs unify and crsf and etc. So analog gives way more flexibility in the choice of components, rather than paying the premium price for all quads of a personal fleet. Ccl: Dji is way more expensive than analog.
Thanks Nurk! You are the man! thank you for your honest review! I am thinking to upgrade my gears. Currently I have Qx7 and FrSky receivers and box analog goggle. I want to move to DJI FPV, my question is should I buy tango 2 (crossfire) and DJI goggles or should I buy the DJI controller? What do you recommend ?
Thanks for sharing, I am hoping more digital systems come out. Caddx vista I prefer on my freestyle rigs over the air unit. For my quads that I use for capturing cinematic I do prefer the air unit.
for sure they are, the market is hitting its teenage years, there will only be more money in it. I'm running a mid range priced but high end specced analog goggle rn, and I plan to purchase second generation digital goggles when they come.
I was surprised to hear you say stock was "garbage" as well. Admit it bud...you just really hated packing those antennas into your bag :) Everything else was spot on.
Its soo easy to test man, i do static 25mw, kwad out back w fan, stand out front thru 3bdr concrete house, note mbps...put on new tennas, note HIGHER mbps..the end...YW ;)
Do you think DJI have continued to show the same level of support to the fpv community in how they’ve made and set up the newer Goggles 2, or do you think the V2’s were their pinnacle for this? And if the V2’s were the pinnacle, do you think there’s been a shift in what DJI are aiming for in their approach to FPV? Thanks again.
There needs to be a Open Digital standard. Any chance of that? Hate to be locked into one company and just their products. Good review ... thanks. Sub'd
Completely agree with all points. The one only other complaint is that DJI Digital FPV is not compatible with any of their Drones...I am into this for the cinematic capabilities (Inspire Pilot). Why do we have to build a drone or buy a third party drone to be able to use this system...?
I agree with you especially on racing. I’ll stick to my orqa goggles for racing. I tried that BDI adapter but the latency is still their while using rapid fire on the dji goggles.
Its soo easy to test man, i do static 25mw, kwad out back w fan, stand out front thru 3bdr concrete house, note mbps...put on new tennas, note HIGHER mbps..the end...YW ;)
Great re-cap. Analog is End-Of-Life, still viable but again it's EOL. Once FPV Racing goes HD, I'll make my DJI purchase. Fingers crossed HD Racing 2021............I assume DJI will release some kind of "locked-latency" mode the day Fatshark officially launches SharkByte
Great Channel, just subscribed. What would you recommend for the first timer fpv? I wanna get a cine whoop set up mostly for indoor, no racing. Trying to compare DJI and fat shark. Thanks!
Huh, the dji goggles actually fit me perfectly. I bought the dji made foam that is supposed to fit better as well, and definitely made it worse for me. I get the feeling the stock foam is for flatter Asian faces like mine, and the better fit foam is for pointer faces.
Just got into fpv as well and I got the tinyhawk 2 freestyle. I have a few months of experience flying camera drone (zino pro) and thats it. But I can tell you that the this is a whole new beast and I'm gonna love it. Havent gotten to fly with goggles yet because I'm just a few days in but I'm looking forward to getting there. I just wanna learn to freestyle really well and I'll be happy as hell.

you can pick up 4s 1300mah's dirt cheap, they work perfectly and you'll get a lot longer run time with them.
RADER FPV really I thought I would get longer from the 18650’s... thanks will look into that.
I'm sure you could get a good sized pocket battery that would last forever
NURK FPV any recommendations?
Congrats bro welcome to hd club....Get a vifly v2 n never fly without it ....YW

AWEESOME Thanks you for this informative video, Digital is the future and like you have seen in the past year will continue to grow.
Can't wait for V2 so I can get the V1s for cheap lol
I'm on the same thing man smdh 🤣
Feel you...
Likewise! :)
yeah lol can't justify the price over analog yet
I doubt it will be much cheaper than what you can already buy it from China right now going on DJI's history. I got the full fly more combo tx/rx/goggles for $800USD the other day.
Just got my 1st V2's, great video. Thanks fella 🔥
I love the transmitter too, not a single problem with it. I never thought it would replace my x9d/crossfire setup, but it has. 0 setup, 0 issues. Love the system in whole, it's awesome.
It's so simple to build quads with it
I file down the aluminum on the air unit near the antenna to allow the 90 degree antenna to stay in better.
Flip AU upside down, n e6000 glue mmcx to AU

Yeah those mmcx are super obnoxious.
How many times did you crash you dji? How much so far dji it self amd fixing did it cost you? Do you fly in acro?
Great video! Thanks for showing clips of our museum!!! Come back anytime Nurk!!!
Love mine. I don't own the Dji FPV drone but do have loads of AirUnits and Vistas
Thanks for this. I just don't understand the people who say they hate DJI and have no good reason when you ask them. Thanks for explaining your pros and cons.
Bro, the reason for hate is money lol they dont have it, but excuses are free, newest one is my wife wont let me....but also $$$ lol
Really nice edit and good video as a whole. Informative and entertaining!
Thanks! Glad you think so.
Spot on bro - appreciate your perspectives
TY Nurk. Keep working hard !

Another solid video. Good honest balance of the pros and cons from a year of experience with the system. Thanks dude
using the fatshark rechargable battery pack with theses is a heaven sent
Thanks for this Nurk. I'm researching a bunch of things to get into the hobby and the DJI system seems to be what I'm leaning toward.

Thank You for introducing FPV to me too. And this video has been helpful. I was wondering whether to start with analogue or digital.
Very interesting and informative video on your experiences with digital HD fpv. Saving up for my dji setup, happy flying 🤓
Had for 4 months. Haven't flew analog since. It's the shit. Even built a water proof dji bird ua-cam.com/video/7tjm7lRCns4/v-deo.html

All compare between stock and upgraded antennas shows no difference, could you do the comparison?
thats what i thought too.....
With the pagodas i get almost no loss in the same place and yes l have done back to back testing. I didnt notice a difference between the pagodas and true rc singularities

the dji don't have a micro-hdmi port? never knew that darn
Nurk has a video of output though, but I haven't watched it
just found this too: ua-cam.com/video/0hv5pqc6kHE/v-deo.html
To add to this I wish I could use them to view the video from other DJI drones - It wold be epic if I could fly my mavic mini from the FPV goggles!
This !
The lack of HDMI output (and no, the 750$ Smart Controller doesn't count...) is what has been holding me from purchasing DJI's system.

mate..good job...i like ur vids :) i m flying more than 8 years...3d helis ..and last 3 -4 years i fly drones also...i just got a 6s beast with dji goggles and new radio with crossfire...love it ...just curious why should i change the stock antennas of goggles? whats the differense with the aftermarket? range or quality of image? both?
I just bought the Tango 2 and I am wondering the same thing.
Thanks for sharing, I am hoping more digital systems come out. Caddx vista I prefer on my freestyle rigs over the air unit. For my quads that I use for capturing cinematic I do prefer the air unit.
Does anyone know if DJI are working on a v2 version of the glasses?
for sure they are, the market is hitting its teenage years, there will only be more money in it.
I'm running a mid range priced but high end specced analog goggle rn, and I plan to purchase second generation digital goggles when they come.
I was surprised to hear you say stock was "garbage" as well. Admit it bud...you just really hated packing those antennas into your bag :) Everything else was spot on.
Both, but they really are bad compared to nicer quality antennas.
I tried that BDI adapter but the latency is still their while using rapid fire on the dji goggles.
a blob of e6000 keeps the mmcx in. A ratel HD would be nice no starlight option.
im curious why you say change the stock antennas every video i watch aftermarket seems to be the same so i never change
Its soo easy to test man, i do static 25mw, kwad out back w fan, stand out front thru 3bdr concrete house, note mbps...put on new tennas, note HIGHER mbps..the end...YW ;)
thanks for a great overview! very helpfull
Cheers
Thanks Man I dig DJI HD
thank for the Review man
tbs tango 2 crossfire + dji air unit is it a better combination than using dji controller?
air unit antennae ............file off that lip !!!! jeepers !
It helps, the signal cuts out behind the buildings, I can't see well and I get pixelated
Would be sick to see bigger nods towards racing.
I aleady happening bro, multi gp settin up all digi, vanover switched already, watch the johnny e 5 video bout it
Great Channel, just subscribed.
What would you recommend for the first timer fpv? I wanna get a cine whoop set up mostly for indoor, no racing. Trying to compare DJI and fat shark.
Thanks!
Honest review, really gj 👌
Huh, the dji goggles actually fit me perfectly. I bought the dji made foam that is supposed to fit better as well, and definitely made it worse for me. I get the feeling the stock foam is for flatter Asian faces like mine, and the better fit foam is for pointer faces.
Less than 5 years ago no one would have thought about Digital set ups, so it s just a matter of time before we left the analog go. 🌷💢🏴💢
Only just geting into drones still waiting on my tinyhawk just to see if fpv is for me :) solid videos keep it up. From Perth Australia
Learn to build.. 3 year in hobby. My advice. Have fun brother! Loved my tiny hawk though..only bnf bird liked.
Sleeping Bear yeh that my plan :) usually I go from 1 to 100 in hobbies really fast 🤣52 fishtanks and 20+ reptiles now drones
You mentioned Digital RunCam camera at 4:40. So that works with DJI fpv goggles? What is the quality? What is the vtx that you used with it?
