I started Wado Ryu in 1976 and then a little while later we got new licences from Higashi. Nothing changed, we were all still happy just didn't know that The Popular Front of Judea and The Judean Popular Front had differences. I tried Shotokan but to me that was just arm breaking blocks for no good purpose. The Human Body works best when Bones, Muscles, ligaments and Tendons work in harmoney together with with Spirit :-) Reply
It’s a short video, so we will all be aware that you couldn’t go into much detail. Same goes for me in this response. So let me limit myself to pointing out that WIKF is not the only line of Wado. There’s also the Wado group under Ohtsuka’s grandson and the Wadokai (which is worldwide the biggest, I think?). Not to mention national or local offshoots. All of these claim to be closest to the original, but usually one has to keep the adage “follow the money” in mind. Stylistically I would say (45 years experience and teachers in these three lines, including students of Suzuki sensei and Suzuki himself on a seminar) that the WIKF line has been more oriented towards the use of physical strength and less towards the subtleties of jujitsu - meaning for example diverting and unbalancing. Your personal experience may, off course, be different.
@@timthenunes Can you not look up the word "laconic" and figure what I'm claiming you're not? You're not economical with words. You use way more words to convey your substantive message than would be sufficient. You're excessively wordy. One does not have to be a Spartan, a Lakon, to be "lakonic". And, no, I did not mean it as a compliment.
Great, so me using the term spartan goes so much over your head you don’t even get it when I’m joking. Tell me something, why do you take the time to write out you don’t like what I do? You aren’t obliged to watch anything I make you know. Thanks for letting me live rent free in your head. Oh, and as for me not being “laconic”, I’m not trying to be
Suzuki came to Great Britain in the early 1960s, I trained in Wado at that time, I found him a stern but fair teacher
Interesting. Thanks. Great to hear the story behind the style I am training.
Molto interessante! Grazie
Great video

Yes, a lot of political group splitting, reforming etc as in most styles
Laconic you're not.
Not sure if you mean that as a compliment 😅 - I’m no Spartan 😂
