Girl I just want to thank you so much for all your UCSD videos! They were so helpful, straight to the point and honest. I will now be attending as a human biology major in the fall, and I wouldn’t have done it without you and your videos. You really helped me understand a lot thank you!
I just got accepted and I found your videos to be so helpful thank you so much 🥺🥺 I got in as a chem major in Revelle and I’m soooo nervous but yeah thank you!!!
I'm about to commit for International Business, but most people are I know are STEM majors. Could you possibly ask around and see if you know anyone in the program that I could ask about their experience in that major? Please and thank you, your videos have been so helpful because of all the cancelled visiting events.
hey jennifer! my friend Shawn is a first year at UCSD for IB. He has been hosting zoom q&a's for incoming UCSD students. His IG is @qshawntran. He also makes youtube videos about ucsd(:
Cause I just found a website called UCEAP which introduces study abroad programs but I didn't find a way to introduce exchange program only among the Unis among UC system
I don't think there's a way for you to do exchange programs at the other UC schools. I think you can cross-enroll in classes, but study abroad programs mainly deal with universities not in the United States.
Hi! I just wanted to say that I’ve been watching a few of your UCSD videos and it’s making me excited for next year! I’m not sure if you’ve answered this question before, but what could you say is the average class size and just how big can classes get?
Hi, thanks for watching! In terms of average class size, it really depends on what the class is and what function it serves. For example, I've been in fairly large classes (~80-100 people) for my general education requirements and management classes. However, once I got to my smaller major classes, like my writing workshops, my classes decreased to about ~20-25 people. I think STEM classes in general are larger, but you'll have discussion sections, office hours, and TAs to help provide more individualized feedback. Hope that helps!
Hi, I am an incoming 2020 transfer student for Mathematics - Computer Science in UCSD. Have you taken CAT 125 class before? If you have, who is your professor and what do you think of the class and the professor?
I'm taking it right now! I really like it's because it's p easy and they help you with some professional writing and public speaking skills :) I think the course is spearheaded by one professor and split into sections by TA, so it's pretty much the same experience regardless of who's teaching you
Hey Rachel! Love your videos :) I'm a Future Triton, going in as a Communications major at Warren College for class of 22' In terms of housing and affordability, what are the options available? Great content, hope to hear from you!
I heard it's really difficult to register for some general classes (too many people, not enough classes). And due to this, many people can't graduate in 4 years. Do you see this as being mostly true or false?
I think this is false, but that it's also highly variant on your major. In general UCSD is pretty motivated to get its students out in 4 years, because it makes them look better (higher four-year graduation rate) and frees up more space for other students coming in. A lot of my friends and I are actually graduating early.
hi rachel, thanks so much for this video! i'm about to commit as a transfer student for the class of 2022. do you know anything about the international studies program, or about the i-house on campus?
Hi! I don't know a *ton* about the international studies program or about i-house, but they always seem to have lots of programs going on there that promote intercultural learning. i always see a lot of their event promotions and never end up going, but there seem to be a fair number of ways to get involved from my general understanding :)
URGENT! (Ive only got a couple days to decide): How would you rate the quality of sixth college now that it has the new layout and has been improved. Your old video discussed it before they reconstructed and I'm curious if it's any better now that they modified it?
Hi! I wanted to ask a couple questions if you know anything about studying music in UCSD? I've been trying to find colleges that allow music minors/non majors to take some of the same classes as music Majors would. If so, do you know how they are? Please and thank you!
You can take any class you want as long as you meet the prereqs, I think! But unfortunately I don't know too much about the music program at UCSD, so I would encourage you to check out the ucsd.edu website for more detailed information :)
Hi, I am an admitted student for a master of mechanical engineering, is there many stem students try to expand time of program to get a internship in summer? Love your videos, they really helps.
I'm not 100% sure what your question is, but because UCSD students are largely STEM majors, there are lots of people vying for internships. However, there are lots of STEM companies who recruit for people here, so there's definitely a lot of opportunity!
Hey! I just got into sixth college for the class of 2024 and I’m still trying to decide if it’s the place for me. I’ve seen a lot of cons surrounding the location of sixth college but I know it’s being rebuilt. Is the Torrey Pines Living Learning Community in a better location than the old sixth college? Also being an out of state student (you might not be able to answer this) but would you say the education is worth it enough for paying out of state tuition.
The Torrey Pines Living Learning Community is in a much better location than the old Sixth College :) And I think the choice about whether OOS tuition is worth it is up to you - I'm an in-state student, so I don't have a lot to say about it. But I do think that a factor I'd consider if I was in your situation is whether the degree you're pursuing at UCSD will set you up for more success here than it would anywhere else.
Love your videos!! ❤️ This one is really helpful! By the way, do you know how the math and english placement tests will affect you if you score poorly on them? Will I still have to take the math placement test if i score well on my upcoming AP Stats exam? Thanks!! ☺️🦋
I have no idea; I'm sorry :( I think worst comes to worst, though, you would just have to take more lower division classes / general education requirements. Would recommend checking the UCSD website, though!
I don't know a ton, but the La Jolla Playhouse is on campus and offers discounted/limited shows and opportunities for internships, I believe! There's also a variety of different productions that occur on campus in different capacities, and also a student-run org called Muir Musical that puts on a production every year. There's also 48-hour film festivals and opportunities to get involved with media production. Hope that helps!

I think I have a few friends I could refer you to! DM me on instagram! @rachelaseo :)
Rachel A. Seo I would also like to know a little more about the International Business major at UCSD
well I think your favorite part of Madrid sounds pretty cool although I get most of my cofee from Tim Hortons which is very much not spanish
Haha, Tim Hortons is great too!

I’m an incoming masters student in CSE, have you heard anything about grad housing (specifically Mesa nueva)?
I have not, unfortunately - here's all the information I could find online: hdh.ucsd.edu/arch/pages/MesaNueva.html

Hey Rachel, I was wondering whether UCSD would be a culture shock for me. I’m from Boston, so are there lots of people from out of state at UCSD?
There aren't a *ton* of out-of-state students, but I have a few friends who are!

I believe it'll be a lot better now that they've modified it! New buildings, better location on campus... all the good stuff, plus a little more
@@RachelASeo That makes sense! Thank you so much.

Do you know anything about performing arts at UCSD

Rachel A. Seo yes it does thank you!
Btw, do u know is there any way to be a exchange student to study in other Uni in UC system?
