This used to be the way I take notes in class during university like 6 years ago, I didn't sketch or doodle much, but I combined drawing, mind mapping, and taking notes together, and I swear to god, a lot of times I would go to midterms reading the concepts I wrote about in my notebook and only studying the things I didn't recall or didnt really understand during lectures, this way really helped me save a lot of valuable time, im not a straight A's kid but I graduated with a high GPA AND a lot of knowledge that didn't get forgotten~~

What kind of notebooks did you use? And did you combine standard notes and the mind mapping on the next page?

@@ronbarton7799 and for mind maps, it really depends on if I have enough space in the page, if not I would open a new page and start writing, sometimes I felt like I had to take the mind maps out and write them on an external A4 paper, you experiment with it till you find what works best for you~~

Hey! I do this! What I do is whenever a new topic is mentioned in the lecture, say, a teacher is teaching thermodynamics. He gives some introduction, I make a box with a title and highlight it, and then scribble things in bullet points or maps and draw emojis. I use black, blue and red pen. Red for stuff I didn’t know or thought of it as extremely important, blue for facts and questions, black for calculations and examples, I also make a special box around the formulas. Handwriting is not my priority though, I just make the whole thing neat enough to be only plausible for me. 😅 Not many in my class can understand what I write, if a friend is absent she never calls me to send her notes.

Our english teacher taugh us such technics for retelling of the stories read. And she taught us that there are good people in the world and helped us write letters to other children in America from Russia. This is how we were taught in English in the USSR to think that the USA wishes us well. And we still think that ordinary Americans want peace and goodness just like us.

    Quantidade > qualidade

I ran across the original Sketch Notes book at a local junior college learning center. As fascinating and helpful as it can be, it slows the note taking process way too much. Sketch notes are best used a refining tool when reviewing written notes, or as an illustration tool for mind maps.
