Every opportunity you get, make sure you practice the J strokes. Take 5 minutes at the start of each session and religiously and deliberately J stroke it will become natural after a while.

thank you for the feedback. I am a lazy guy, but I will try to practice more the J Stroke.

You need a 'Reverse J Stroke'. Use your top hand to twist the blade toward the SUP as soon as the blade has entered the water. You will pull slightly toward the SUP then pull directly parallel with the SUP. Remove blade from the water when the paddle is in line with your hip "Anything past your Hip is a Waist" :) It is much easier to practice the Reverse J Stroke on a regular SUP or better, a narrow Racing SUP and you can use the SUPF stance on the SUP's once you are comfortable with your stroking technique. Baby steps will allow you to make faster progress. Keep posting!

thank you very much for your detailed feedback. Unfortunately, I don`t have any Race Sup, but I will try to practice that in the next coming sessions. I am just a bit behind in editing the last ones.

Hello Marvinho, thank you so much for your films;-) i just bought cruzader 7.6 and the gong curve H5xl and am waiting for it. but i have an aluminium mast from my alviator V2. and the stab and fuselage from it. i am trying not to spend a lot of monney, but in your opinion is there some more material i really have to bye for the flat start sup? the titanium fuselage? another stab? or can i just try with the kit i describe to you? Please keep on posting about your journey!!!

for the flatwater paddle up, I am not sure, if a carbon high modulus mast will make such great difference. What stab are you using? I think for learning you can stay with your equipment. For long term I think you need a stronger fuselage and a stiffer mast.

wishing you all the best and good luck trying. I got a bit demotivated and went more wingfoiling and pumpfoiling the last weeks, but I will try to continue the journey of flat water paddle ups. Maybe I just wait for the winter storms to try downwinding. We will see.

@@saltyfellow yes, that would be great. Unfortunately, Gruyère is quite far away from me. But maybe one day. You can always come to Lake Zug and we can go together!

looks promising! focus on paddling straight with the"J"stroke. also shorten the stroke. start at the tip of the board and stop before reaching your back foot. keep posting 🙂

You should learn the DW board carry, you hold the board upside down and put the front wing on your head, much easier.
