We used a similar set up last year driving from CA to PA. We had two carriers of the same size as your lined up on the driver’s side and open space on the passenger side where our two small dogs could roam. We had room for a couple of suitcases and a cooler. We found that our cats had no interest in a litter box until they were settled in the hotel room. It worked out great for all.
wal-mart has collapsible pet carriers that look similar to these.($16) I had one and bought 3 more for a 10 hr trip with 4 cats-this encourages me it can be done!
will be driving from Tampa, FL to Santa Fe, NM with two cats. Our oldest hates riding in the car. Even short trips to the vet are difficult. He presses against the door of the carrier with his nose until it is raw. These carriers look like they might be the best for this purpose. Can't find them on Amazon. Any other suggestions for the trip. About 4 days cross country.
Hi, thank you for this idea. We have 4 cats. We want to go from NY to Tennessee (its a 12 hour trip) we want to do it in 2 days. My question is ... can you stay 1 night in a hotel and leave the car running and leave the cats in the car? We cannot find a hotel or Airbnb that will allow us to bring the cats in the room for even 1 night. We have a Honda CRV (SUV) similar to your size car. Thank you in advance

They are really easy to travel with.We put the litter box in there just in case but like you said they only used it when we stopped for the night.

Sure that can be done but using these tents you can put food and water in and a litter box too
