Oh my goodness thank you SO much for these ideas. I’m moving state next year with my kitty & I have been sweating trying to get info on making that a smooth transition
You could always call Sophia, she drove cross-country with me to NC 14 yrs ago! We'll have to tell you the story of when Crickett got loose in the hotel room and got under the bed. That cat could get thru zippers. I bet the kittyjuana would of helped a lot!
Thanks so much for this. I really wanna do the tent idea, however, I'm unsure about how to secure items from sliding around in it during the drive. I'd like to put her small crate inside the tent, as well as a litter box. Any ideas/suggestions to pull this off safely? I had initially planned to put her litterbox and crate inside a large wire dog cage because then I could zip-tie/secure the items to the wires of the cage. But I'd rather do your option!
@@marklindasreboot2023 Thanks for your reply! I think I'll get a cat condo like yours to function as a cat cave during the trip. That looks like it could be velcroed down.
I have 5 cats to move from AZ to NC. 4 of them are ok to be in one container, if it's big, but my senior, Kaylee won't tolerate co-mingling at all. I think she can go in a large carrier in the front seat of my truck. I have a king cab toyota, so the other 4 can be in the back seat. My main concern is getting them out for potty and they are scared enough to wriggle out of their harnesses? UGH.... And then getting them all into the hotel rooms, when we stop. My husband is driving the Uhaul and following me in my truck. We also have a 19 year old cockatiel. I hope he survives this move. I'm nervous about all of it. Did you have their vaccines up to date? I doubt the CAT POLICE will pull you over and ask for medical records. Oh man, i'm overthinking this!!!
@@marklindasreboot2023"Let them out of the car" means "pull the carrier out of the car"? Ok, but where? At a park? Under a tree? In the heat? In the cold?

I forgot about that! I should call and ask her just to mess with her?!

fur sure!!
How did you deal with them using the litter box? That’s my biggest concern. I’m driving from Houston to Minneapolis with two 18 pound cats.
Oh my. .. I found some disposable litter boxes. Johnny Cat made them,
14 years ago, I found them at the grocery store.😮

We found the dog cages were too big. You can always put some Velcro on whatever you think might slide.

What do you do if someone lost a cat halfway through through a cross-country trip how the heck do you find it??
Make sure it’s chipped
We had collars on all our cats that had a sensor we could track. Thank goodness we didn’t lose a cat🙏🏻
"Stop. Give the cats a rest." What does that mean?
Let them out of the car. We did this by driving no more than 6 to 8 hours a day.
