This film was made by the late, great, Ian L Turner, my former filmmaking partner. He also made the found-footage for Dangerzone (also here on UA-cam), back before most people had even heard of them. We lost Ian to ALS in 2010, but it's nice that two of his films live on here.
Its timeless really. The was when "underground" and "alternative" actually meant what those words really mean. When these types of hip yet weird scenes were narrowly focused on those whom it resonated with, no matter what their background. A dis-enfranchised business type next to a frustrated artist next to a loner from the suburbs.
Yess ! I’d find new music by listening to kfjc or ksjs College radio in the middle of the night 🖤Out of all the things I’ve lost I still have some cassettes from those recordings
it's from different BART stations around the SF bay area. i did a triple take when i first stepped into a station when i moved here several years ago. started seeing everything in reverse b/w images!! such a great song and video.
Why so much more fans are listening to these shortened versions than to the great classic track with five-some minutes in the original ?? -- Only because of the video, and it's really awesome ! but it's a real shame there is no video for the longer raw tune ... - say with some cuttings of the New Age( version I or II ) - video on it ! -- I'm not able to do this ... but maybe someone ?!
Chrome is such a great, widely overlooked band. Maybe too weird for most but their record Alien Soundtracks (& the song "The Monitors") kicks some serious ass.
Going to see Helios tonight - going under the name of Chrome. That is more justified then when Damon was doing it but he really needs Hilary Stench (Haines) on bass to call it Chrome, don't you think?
It's funny, but the trains in this video are nearly identical to train cars used in the New Jersey PATH system years later. An odd comment on a music video, I know.
It´s a mystery... why is it almost impossible to find any of their lyrics on the web? I know some of the albums (Blood on the Moon, Red Exposure) had them on, but not all of them. I would love to play this one here with my band. I´ve found out which gear Helios Creed uses, but does anyone know what equipment was used on their recordings (especially Blood on the Moon) ?
A lot of it was patched together tech garbage they found on the street. They'd pump a signal in and see if a signal came out. If they liked it, they might use it or pump it through other things. It was all analog and nobody was taking detailed technical notes while layering one track on top of another or splicing at will since most pressing runs were in the 500-1000 range. Their records were generically impossible to find outside of a very few number of cities and even less was known about the band and its members. Zines rarely discussed them and their maybe 200 original fans outside the Bay Area just had to make it up. Of all things, Ralph's inclusion of a track was the biggest "commercial" break of their career during their peak. This did not help sales or distribution and even the original Chrome box moldered on the shelf at the then ungodly price of $50. It took years after the Edge/Creed breakup, and about a 1000 band imitators, before people got in the 90's.
I'm pretty sure Damon Edge used a Moog Liberation (keytar) during the Blood on the Moon/3rd From the Sun era, since he was freed from being behind the drum kit. You can see him rocking out on one in the "Fire Bomb" video. Other than that, it sounds like they used a lot of Flanger, Phaser, Delay, Wah and Envelope Filters (feeding guitars through synths and the pedal effect).
@@skysaxon1 Creed guitar tone sounds a lot like a Roland Jet Phaser. They sell for $700--900 on eBay now wish I would have not traded mine away in High school!
anti-hippie/pop style of rock, I guess late 70s - early 80s makes it classic, bay area too, my father was heavy on this short lived movement in NYC, lots of nut case stories, but cool

Tracy Hodson these clips are decades ahead of the mainstream, still my favorite band and, all the other music in the world is just plain
what films? tell me
Did he hand draw on the film stock?

+ SNAKEFINGERS + INDOOR LIFE !

They're seeding the clouds today.
I would add Snakefinger and the Art Bears to that list. All excellent music.
@@MarkTerminus Yes indeed. I would also add Cardiacs.
Absolutely FANTASTIC. Despite it being over thirty years old, it still sounds futuristic today. Just AMAZING.
So ahead of it’s time

BART. Bay Area Rapid Transit
The parlando vocals remind me of Bob Markley on certain WCPAEB records.
