  • Students from Tiverton High School had a night to remember as they celebrated their prom night on Friday, June 30, at the Tiverton Hotel.
The students arrived in a variety of vehicles, including tractors, a vintage police car, a horse, limousines, a World War II jeep, and even a combine harvester.
They also dressed up in their finest outfits, showing off their creativity and personality.
The prom night was a chance for the students to celebrate their achievements and say goodbye to their classmates and teachers after a challenging year of Covid restrictions.
Alfie Coker, head boy, said: “It’s really good that we get the whole year group to come down here to celebrate. We all get dressed up, and put a lot of effort in.
“I know a lot of people have spent a lot of time and effort in getting exactly what they wanted, clothes and car-wise, so a lot of time, and money, has gone in to tonight.
“It was pretty impressive to see everyone come in, we had some really cool cars and impressive outfits, we’re all going to have a really good night, which is important to have after the exams and to say goodbye to everyone and summarise our time at Tiverton High School.”
Lottie Rigamonti, head girl, said: “I’m very happy that we’re able to celebrate us leaving school, and having so much fun with it.
“It’s going to be a sad night, as after shirt signing, and Dress as You Dare Day, this is the last event, and the end of our time together. There may be tears.”
Victoria Castley, head of year eleven, said: “We’re extremely proud after all the hard work they’ve put in, particularly through Covid restrictions which stopped them accessing their education, it is so fantastic to see them get through to the end, and they’ve done it with such resilience and commitment.
“It’s so nice to see so many people come to the prom as well. We have 193 students in year eleven here tonight, all happy and proud of each other, it’s an emotional night knowing that this is the end.”
Jess James, assistant head of year, added: “Tonight’s event has been amazing. They all look so stunning. There has been a lot of tears, but we’re so proud of them, they are tears of pride.”
