    Looks like a winner. The only addition I can suggest besides split weights, as someone commented, would be to incorporate a small firesteel.

    Looks like a nice belt to throw in my pack when needed.... Would like to see a few more triangle rings so I could attach more stuff when needed.. Great review my friend.

    Hi Luke. I do like the Alpenlore Survival Belt. It looks like a multi-use gear to take when doing a hike. I have to agree with you. Is a bit pricy, however, is worth to buy it.
    Thank you for shearing! Out...

    I think the idea of it is nice, but if you don't have your backpack and gear with you, then the kit falls pretty short of the necessities for survival. If I have my gear with me, then sure its a great little addition to my kit and I would definitely get it, because that little kit may be the only thing between life and death, so even though it's a small kit, its still better than nothing. Great video Luke!

    Looks like a nice belt however not sure about that price point. I could see spending 35 to 40 bucks on it as really I could build something similar myself using 550 cord and nylon strapping. But I see who they are marketing this towards, those that want to just buy and throw on vs. making one themselves. Thanks for the review!!

    Pretty cool. But there are a lot of other options I like more. Having that d-ring without it being a riggers belt is just slightly misleading. Great video though! As always.

    Luke, I like the review of the belt. They should swamp out the paracord they currently have on the belt for some 550 paracord, must stronger in my opinion. The survival kit they added to the belt could include a few more items to the list, including some fishing line?

    • @JeffNewton508
      @JeffNewton508 9 років тому

      Alpenlore Mountain Equipment Awesome! Your welcome. Also with the fish hooks, some fishing line and a small leadshot to use as a weight for the fishing part?

    • @JeffNewton508
      @JeffNewton508 9 років тому

      Alpenlore Mountain Equipment You guys are very welcome. It would nice to see this belt also as a riggers belt as well? I dunno, if this is something you've considered or not, but I think it would make a good riggers belt and survival belt combo for the price.

      Alpenlore Mountain Equipment Thanks for being active in the comments. Para550 also has inner threads suitable for fishing line, but is almost twice as strong. Personally, I'd much prefer to have a tiny bit more bulk, but much more strength for my cordage. The fishing weights are an interesting idea as they needn't be round and could easily fit down the middle of the belt.

      Alpenlore Mountain Equipment I guess I'm in the minority here, but I like the lighter 325/350 cord. I've actually moved to Atwood 325 cord for camping/backpacking and may do the same for my GHB. It's still plenty strong for anything I've needed it for, still has inner strands that can be re-purposed, and saves on both bulk and weight.

    Nice belt . Would work very nice without the para cord . Would probably wear it more without the cord. Looks like it would be great for a pistol belt also. Like the beard . Let it grow . Thanks Luke

    Hi Luke: Once you take it apart. How difficult is it to put back together? I really like the idea of using it to hang your pack.
    Thanks

  • @ovrlxnd

    I don't know why the triangle would be included if the belt is not actually able to be used as a riggers belt. Also, price is a problem. For about half what the belt costs, you could get an actual riggers belt, a paracord bracelet, and stick the "survival gear" in your wallet. Nice idea, but I'd never buy one.

      Alpenlore Mountain Equipment Just putting my initial impression out there. My last two belts were Aker dress belts with the polymer insert before going to a Wilderness 5-stitch. Both are great for carrying a gun, and that's the segment of the belt market I buy from. Since I'm not in the belt business, nor am I a rigger, so there's every chance I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Good luck with everything!

    As far as the survival kit I'd ditch it in favor of a ferro rod and striker and if they could incorporate some 550 fire cord into the weave in such a way that it could be removed without unraveling the whole belt that would be great.

    That is a nice looking belt,... but I already own a Black Hawk rigger's belt, and have a military style money belt with a hidden zipped pouch. If this Alpenlore _was_ a rigger's belt, I'd definitely be interested in one, as currently I have to choose which of my belts too use (it's mostly the rigger however, I usually wear combat pants so have enough places to store things, I generally only wear the money belt on foreign trips when I want to stash some cash.) . Nice looking though, so it's not like I wouldn't buy just 'cos :-)

    Hey Luke its me again, quick question. Did you try and put the cord back on the strap? If so was it easy or did you spend a lot of time putting the belt back together again. Please let me know, i think i would enjoy this product. Thanks Luke

  • @PrestonGladd

    Alpenlore Mountain Equipment do you condone the use of this belt as a hammock attachment/tree hugger? I could see using this as a tree hugger and a belt to save weight and space, plus using the "pro" cord as a ridgeline.

    I want to know how easy it is to get the cord back on the belt after use?

    • @PrestonGladd
      @PrestonGladd 9 років тому

      It's no different than doing a standard 550 cord wrap, but you will have to research and practice how to do it, however it's not to hard.

    If your calling it "Survival Belt " Alpenlore, you could put a few more useful items in survival kit like a compass or signaling device, or maybe a whistle

    If I actually take the belt off to use it, I have no more belt. So now on top of being in a survival situation, my pants would be falling down. I guess you take it apart and cut off enough webbing to make another belt with the buckles though.

    Add to the survival kit a cyanide capsule for when you get caught stealth camping ...or would that be too extreme? I'm kidding. I don't see this as a long term wilderness survival tool. Maybe add a survival kit that is better suited for urban survival get home scenario? I don't see much use for fishing hooks maybe a larger better blade, signaling whistle or better yet condoms.

  • @panzerabwerkanone
    @panzerabwerkanone 9 років тому

    I'd buy but I'm afraid of the embarrassment from having survived for weeks on nothing but what I had on my survival belt and seeing my rescuers, running to start my signal fire and tripping over the pants around my ankles.

    • @panzerabwerkanone
      @panzerabwerkanone 9 років тому

      Well that's good to know since Luke didn't show us how to disassemble the belt. But my luck would be that I had already used the belt core also to repair the snowcone machine I hopefully get marooned with. Do you include instuctions for disassembly? Also I assume that you can just partially disassemble the belt for just the few feet of cord you need?

    That price is a crazy for what it is. it has a plastic buckel some none parracord a little cheap kit it does not take skilled workers to build this at all. if the quality was their I would buy one at a fair price. but this kit could be belt for little to nothing all premade items. material for the belt is dirt cheap. I don't see how they came you with that number. o well each is to their own

  • @dajolaw

    Looks like a rigger's ring, but isn't. Looks like paracord, but isn't. A survival kit you could easily make yourself. It DOES look nice (especially that blue & grey combo!), and the material does what they say it does, but for $60-80? I'm sorry, but for such a niche market, I don't think this product is worth it. :-/
