  • He was smitten when he first saw it at The Photography Show, but Lok has now had his hands on the Billingham Hadley One long enough for a full review. Does the classic looking canvas bag live up to his initial expectations?
    And more importantly does the bag keep all his camera kit dry in the rain?

    Very nice review of the Hadley One, Lok! I especially liked your demonstration of its waterproofing feature! My only question is if you've tried it with a Gripped camera such as a Fuji X-T3. I assume it will fit nicely in it, as I have a Billingham F-Stop 1.4, which is slightly smaller in width and depth, and my gripped X-T3 fits in that, albeit a bit snugly. Thanks for verifying that the excellent FiberNyte material truly is waterproof!

    Uhh. Thanks to you and Kai, I now own three Hadley bags! So expensive but so brilliant! Who's going to pay for this one, eh Lok?

      Given hos much gear cost. These bags are a bargain.

    The Hadley One is on the list to replace my Pro. My only issue is with the inserts. Looks like I'll be getting a full insert and one half insert for flexibility although my Pro is usually full of camera gear. Just got back from a trip to HK where my Pro carried a Fuji X-Pro2, a Fuji X100F, a Hasselblad XPan 2, with the 56, 23 and 18 for the X-Pro2 and the 45 for the XPan 2.

    Great review! You basically sold me on the bag. I used to own the 555 and thought it was amazing. Stylish, light and tough. Two years and not a scratch. But there were a few things that bugged me about the bag. I didn't like the hand straps that blocked the front pockets. I didn't like the non-removable shoulder strap. I had to sell it. Even with the things I didn't like about it, I still loved it.
    So maybe it was a good thing I had to sell it. Because this one pretty much fixes everything I didn't like about my first Billingham. Everything. And they've made some super-smart improvements. Like the leather rain flap and water-resistant zipper. Have some more colors available and it could be perfect.
    It's on my list.

      but they are not going to sell your return after you test it out in the rain isn't it?

      +Ludwig Van Pictures manufacturers usually have half a dozen or more of each product that they use as samples. When it is returned they will ship it out for someone else to try out.

      I noticed this too. :)
      Thanks for the review, Lok, it is awesome. If only there was a thinner version that would be just good for a Leica system, I would consider it very very seriously; it seems a lot thicker than my Ona bag...

    Great bags n material no doubt.
    But I regret getting the Billingham 307? sling bag. Because its so heavy.. Even without anything. The bag itself weights 2kg. Its crazy. Bought it almost 3 years now..seldom use it but I still keep it.
    Strongly recommend sticking to their small - medium sling bags only.

      @malfaris82 6 років тому +1

      I totally agree, I have the hadley pro for 10 years and it has the most practical bag and its still in very good condition. but 307 is far less practical with its boxy size and heavily weight. I had it for long time and seldom use because of its bulkiness and weight. also had 445 which is bigger than 307 and more heavy as well , so I sold it after one year. their Hadley line is the best because of messenger style and can be used without the insert for carrying your everyday stuff in style and quality.

  • @stekkerbox
    @stekkerbox 7 років тому

    Hello. I am deciding between these 2 cameras:a6000 with 16 55 or the Canon 7d mk1 with 35 1.8
    Why would you chose one over the other?

    • @stekkerbox
      @stekkerbox 7 років тому

      TheWarCow yes the kit lens. Yea maybe the d7000. I don't have much money soo yes. I do have an old 50 f. 2. 0 from Nikon. Manual focus. I could use that on the a6000.....

    • @stekkerbox
      @stekkerbox 7 років тому

      TheWarCow my budget is 600 euro

    • @stekkerbox
      @stekkerbox 7 років тому

      TheWarCow I know the necessary things that you need to to know with photography, I really like it but I haven't got a real camera. Except for an Nikon em hahaha

    • @torawysteria4372
      @torawysteria4372 7 років тому

      Hey, personally I would go for the A6000, I just sold my 7D Mk1 and I have to say that it really shows its age. It's slow and writes to CF cards and the video is soft. A6000 is better all around except focusing. I now have an A7ii and it performs much better than my Canon so I expect the A6000 to be much better. Also, not that big of a deal as it's cheap, but battery life is just okay on Sony not amazing.

    • @torawysteria4372
      @torawysteria4372 7 років тому

      Stekkerbox Also, 16-50 kit lens isn't that bad! My friend has a fast 35mm prime and the stabilized 16-50 for his A6300 and it compliments eachother perfectly!

    I really don't see the point in getting a new one if you already have a Hadley Pro. I have the canvas and I like it better because it's washable. I'll stick to my old one, tried and tested!

    • @TheLokCheung
      @TheLokCheung 6 років тому

      Susazeu This one is bigger though. I now have my Hadley Pro and this Hadley One, which the Pro is good for a easier shoot, the One is good for when I have to take a lot with me, and of course brilliant for travel!

  • @user-mk9rv6vv6f

    What difference between The Canvas and Nylon? Your black one is which type?

    • @Susazeu
      @Susazeu 7 років тому +2

      I like canvas better. Softer and equally as waterproof. But in light colors some color transfer can happen from dark jeans.

    • @TheLokCheung
      @TheLokCheung 6 років тому

      My old one is canvas and this Hadley One is nylon. Yes I’m agree I like the slightly softer touch of canvas but colour fade faster on canvas compare to nylon.

    • @sgpork
      @sgpork 7 років тому

      If you meant just billingham. Just go Hongkong Mongkok.. many big camera shops there n they carry this brand.
      But if you're asking Hadley one. I'm not sure because I hvnt been to Hongkong recently. Or rather not yet. this year.

      They are only selling the Hadley One in selected places in UK for now. I guess they need time to spin up the production as they are still only hand making these bags in one factory in the UK

    • @malfaris82
      @malfaris82 6 років тому +1

      ONA isn't as durable and practical as Billingham, if you search online you will find many durability issues, and you won't find ppl showing with their 20+ year bag as they do with their Billingham's.

    Don't give it back Lok. Lose it in... a canal or something. Tell them you fell in the water, could just save yourself but alas, the bag was gone. Then, after a day or so, fish the thing up. It will be okay, with tissues and all.
