So glad you enjoyed our omiyage! It was so much fun choosing them. The last one was indeed scallops. They are basically whole scallops pressed down with minimal seasonings so you get pure scallop taste! We love those too!

When my father in law was in the Army, he was stationed in Germany. He sent home lovely things like Hummel dolls and inlaid tables. In the 1950's, they were affordable, and he remembers his time there fondly.

Filipinos have a similar concept to omiyage, we call it pasalubong! You give pasalubong, also usually edible treats but sometimes small gifts, either when you come back from a trip or when you're traveling somewhere to visit friends or relatives, you bring something from home to give to them when you arrive :) I think it's a super sweet way to tell people you've been thinking about them wherever you go.

I agree! She is tooo cute, and you can tell she really enjoys tasting all the snacks and treats; except for licorice of course!!! Emmy always puts me in a great mood watching her videos!!! I hope she does a Spain 2 , cause that's where I was born....

I'm currently in Japan for the summer, and I visited the Ramen museum earlier this month. Nothing to write home about. Though I love Yokohama and I always buy treats in the shops next to the station.
Now I wanna try those scallop chips.
The best souvenir I ever got was a 3 ft water pipe (hookah) that I bought in Cairo, Egypt. I got that and 6 boxes of shisha for $18 USD. In the States, it would have easily been $100+. When I got to the airport in the States, airport security had the drug dog come and sniff my luggage out, but there was nothing to hide. :) Shisha is only tobacco with dried fruit shavings stuck together with honey or molasses, I don't know which. It smells and tastes like heavily spiced fruity tea. It's nice! Anyway, the drug dog pretty much ignored my things, but I wasn't worried. :)

My family and I will be visiting Japan for the first time next month. I'm hoping to plan some activities for us to do in Yokohama so this makes me reaaaaaally excited to stop by there!! :D

90s kid here, I'll paint some context behind this. It was previously understood that Pluto was a planet. Later, planetary science invented a criteria that upon satisfying all conditions, a body in space can be called a planet. Those conditions were:
1: It has to be orbiting a star.
2: It has to have pulled itself into a spherical shape with its own gravity.
3: It must have "cleared the neighborhood" of its orbit, meaning, it has to have a clear orbit path around the sun, and THIS was the rule that Pluto did not satisfy, since it has orbital overlap with Neptune.
Thus, Pluto was re-classified as a dwarf planet.
Basically, due to the third rule, if there is any remote, negligible chance for anything to collide into Pluto that rests on its orbit path, it falls short of Rule 3.
I still have an old Planetarium CD for Windows 95 computers that still refers to Pluto as a planet due to being released before the reclassification happened.

what do you do with the treats that you bite and then put aside?:) for example on the german part 8 video where you ate those marshmallow filling dark milk and whitechoclates.. (schokoküsse) im so curious if you eat them all later or just throw it away:) the parts you bite
