Emmy seems like such a fantastic mother.....I don't want any children but if I ever did have kids I'd hope to be a mom like Emmy, intelligent, caring, funny, and loving! I can't think of any other mom i'd want to emulate other then Emmy
i never knew that i would enjoy watching someone else eat food as much as i do
Thanks for the kind words. Being a mama is the best.
I love love love your videos Emmy! My daughter 10 yr old daughter Sasha and I enjoy watching your videos and learning so much ;) Your videos have made our trips to our local asian grocers a lot more fun and we look forward to trying a lot of new treats and exciting flavors. She was so excited to find the banana puffs and shrimp chips and we even found a totally new one, a crab one that was delicious! Keep up the good work Emmy! much love from Tampa Florida!!
I like her vocabulary
I think is lovely
I would listen to you and go sleeping right away as the relaxation that your voice makes each time I watch ur videos - love you Emmy my God bless you
Shisa are EVERYWHERE when you go to Okinawa! Most people have them standing guard outside their houses. My cousin and I tried to see how many we could find while we were there. Now I shall try to see if I can find some Shisa ga Ippai candy at any of my local Japanese stores.
And the Beni Imo Tarts are really lovely, aren't they? My family gifted me with a package of those the last night I was in Okinawa so I could bring them back to my family.
I have never been to Hawaii myself, but I have heard there is a significant Okinawan population there. The climate of Okinawa is very similar to Hawaii, and some of the same plants grow in both places (hibiscus is the one that initially comes to mind). So it doesn't surprise me that some of the foods are similar or that the flavors are similar. It makes me want to visit Hawaii even more.
These videos have brought back so many pleasant memories of my childhood and my trip to Okinawa. Thank you for these lovely videos! It was so great watching you learn about Okinawa through their foods. I also really appreciated the sanshin music at the beginning of these videos. I had the pleasure of having sanshin players at my relatives' house two separate times! It was the time I most associate with everyone laughing and dancing and singing together. These were such a delight, and now I'm curious to see more of your other videos!
(I apologize for the length of my comments- I'm just so passionate about Okinawan culture, and it's so great to see people learning about it since the culture and language are dying).
I loved reading your comment. I spent a good portion on my childhood in Okinawa so this was also like a piece of my childhood for me and the music with both videos brought a sense of nostalgia for me. I love seeing someone so passionate about the culture of the Ryukyu Islands cause it is becoming so scarce. I tried to learn all that I could while I was there.
I know this is years later, but you are right about Hawaii and Uchinanchu.
Many uchinanchu came to Hawaii, due to poverty Okinawa, in the early 1900's and worked the sugar plantations.
My great grandfather was amongst those uchinanchu and my great grandmother came over as a picture bride.
I have a lot of Uchinanchu cousins still in Hawaii to this day :).
Aww on the lil map of Okinawa, the circle around it makes it looks like a smiley face!
9:02 was hilarious 😂😂
+marisina Shikiko I like how she kept it in the video :D
I have never laughed so hard in my life 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh, thank you & welcome to Emmymade in Japan.
I love watching your videos while I eat breakfast, that way I don't get so hungry watching you eat all the delicious treats.
My pleasure. :)
When she showed the picture of Okinawa, it looked like a cute kawiai face
msg stands for monosodium glutamate. it basically adds a meaty or savoury taste to things. it's used a lot in cup noodle soup powders.
"it's like a little potato." 😍
My sister is stationed there and she brought all of that stuff when she was on leave. So good!
Another super cool and fun video. It is so fun to watch how you either love, or dislike what you are tasting. And the wild Emmy Endings are always a great laugh and pick me up. Thanks for sharing with us.
Japanese has a lot of homonyms which is what makes kanji so important to the language. Ame with the kanji [雨] means rain and ame with the kanji [飴] means candy.
I actually have a bag of blue seal candy in the pantry. Going to have to open it now. Lol. Thanks again for sharing!!
Congratulations to the winners. I hope y'all will send Emmy a thank-you note or comment! Thank you Emmy for making me smile again...your videos always help to make my day!
Ur door made me Jump haha scared the crap out of me! Lol
Oh the snacks in these two videos remind me of when my grandma comes home from a reunion back in Okinawa and bring home snacks for me and my brother.
There needs to be a supermix/compilation of all the teeny end skits. Pleeeeaaaasee.
oneroarmouse Yes! That'd be so awesome!
I agree. That sounds like such fun! Maybe Emmy would let someone help her make it? It's probably a huge amount of editing, after 9 years, of an average of 2 or 3 videos per week . That feels like maybe around 1,000 videos to sift through & copy bits from.
Maybe do it as a 3 million subscriber bonus?
the dry plums that have a jarring flavor, mexico has a similar snack to that where its dusted with salt, the best way i have found to eat those is by cutting a sweet orange in half then sticking one of those dry plums in the center eating it together with the orange is mighty tasty.
I love your voice, it's so pleasant hahah
I almost jumped out of my chair when the door opened....our house is 106 years old and makes creepy noises too but the doors only open like that when someone shuts or opens another door somewhere in the house....you were so calm and carried on....I woulda had to edit the part where I screamed out! lol =}
You can tell she's intelligent by the way she articulates her thoughts.
Those sweet potatoe tarts look divine! I so want one so badly. Would it taste good with normal sweet potatoe? You can't find those lovely blue sweet potatoes here in Germany.
Hellchen317 answering this for you four years later, yes sweet potato should work fine. We have sweet potato pies here in America, so you should be fine.
people who dont like the video i have a solutiin for you all. DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO AND KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND DO NOT COMMENT BAD ABOUT HER. she gives everyone an idea of the products which actually helps.
I LOVE HOW EXCITED SHE GET! 😛😛😛 We should all have great intentions while eating.
Anything Beni Imo is delicious! It was my favorite when I visited Okinawa. The Blue Seal Beni Imo ice cream, to die for!
I love that I watch these at like 2am...when I'm starving and wished I could eat some of those snacks you get. lol
Emmy, you have to come eat the fresh food and fresh pastries from Okinawa. Bring your family and I will show you around.
Part 3 please!
9:30 omg that was hilarious omg who opened the door
Every Saturday in October. :) Last week I ate eyeball ice cubes.
emo tart.... sounds like early Gerard Way
The dried sour plums are a fairly common thing in SE Asia. You should try the powdered version with fruits like green mango, guava...even Granny Smith apples. It adds sweetness which contrasts against the tartness. I also like the sour plum candy. Infinitely more palatable than the actual. I'm adverse to the actual. Traumatized as a child when someone told me how it was made.
I love rice cakes. They are a staple in my diet because I have to eat gluten free and I haven't been able to find a bread that I really like so I use rice cakes instead. I actually like the plain unsalted ones when I want to top it with egg salad. I like the chocolate chip ones for breakfast with peanut butter
I love the way she laughed after saying banana
I traveled across the land of videos you have just to see your first video I deserved an award,!!!!
Paranormal activity with that door?! Lol. Loved the video...always a good de-stresser from work. Love ya Emmy
At 9:02 I laughed so hard, that I fell off my bed! 😂🤣
Hanna Bradley cc
Emmy I love your videos sooosososo much! It's like a journey around the world.
Hi Emmy, I subbed not too long ago... starting with your century egg video which I thoroughly enjoyed because it wasn't being featured as some "gross" food product to be eaten on a dare. I'm sitting here on this lovely Sat. morning catching up on the videos I haven't seen yet. This Okinawa vid has been my fave thus far, you really seem to be enjoying the package sent to you by Michael which in turn your audience enjoys as well via your expression. I never thought I'd enjoy watching someone taste test food... but I'm hooked! LoL
Love your videos! Sorry I had to laugh when the door opened and scared the "crap" out of you. Too,funny
I would have freaked out if my door just randomly opened like that! LOL! I love your videos!
13:48 That was priceless Emmy. "Hey, hey [did you know] we're the monkees!"
A network really needs to pick you up as a host. You have the best narrative voice, and describe things in such a great sensory-involving way. Plus, you're beautiful! I would have you in my tv all day long(like I don't on UA-cam already......)
I get really hungry when I watch your videos, but please keeping making more of these interesting videos :)
We love you Emmy!
Omg Emmy this is my favorite episode of Emmy eats..you are so entertaining..I love your videos..I subscribe to others but I watch your videos the most..I just love them:))

emmy how do you stay so thin eating the world's candies--lucky girl! love your show--its very educating and enjoyable. hours go by--oh, ya, housework! but how do we get some of these candies you enjoy?
I do. Hi, Pam!
Love the way you describe all the food, I can almost taste it!
I've watched a couple of your vids...and I have to say... I LOVE THEM!!!
Miso is really different. It's very salty and has more of a wine smell/taste. :)
when the door opened I was SPOOKED
I heard a door close after her door opened, that's why it opened. The air flow in the house was different. It happens all the time at my house. :)
All so interesting. I would love to try the first one
The door opening scared me as it scared emmy
The dried plums are amazing when you feel nauseous !
A bit of history: You mentioned Hawai'i & that is 'atarimae'; after WWII, several people (my husband's uncle was 1 of them) from Hawai'i shipped plants and food stock [goats & pigs] to replenish the land & feed the people.
I love Okinawa and that beni imo tart!! Actually visited the tart factory while I was there :D
4:02 Oh my god, that's the snack of my childhood. That same exact brand. I haven't seen that bright yellow bag in over a decade.
This part was fantastic .
10:35 is polkagrisar!!!!! In swedish!!! They are so good! We use to make them at home!
Love the music at the beginning
kekekekeekeke the part where the door opened made me laugh so hard!!!
9:00-09 LMAOO MY GOD BEST PART X,DDD
I love your tutorial videos! Maybe you can show us how to make that stuffed frog that you made for your son. It was adorable!
I replayed that scene where the door opened like five times just to see if I could catch a glimpse of anything on the other side of the door, lol. XD
Emmy's favorite fall vegetable is ベニいも
+Isaiah Finley いも食って屁をこく。
Those beni imo tarts look AMAZING
The door to my boy's room doesn't latch & on breezy days it pops open. :)
That box from Okinawa was huge!
Emmyさん沖縄のお菓子を紹介していただきありがとうございます。

I have. Just read the comments. :)
I was stationed in Okinawa for 2 years! Oh how I miss it!
I wish I got to try the miso cookies and the brown sugar pretz when I was in Okinawa! The beniimo chips look delicious!
I love your endings
The ending was the best ever! XD
haha always so stoned watching this big LIKE hahaha!
Yellow package supaiman is one of my favorites!
That door opened by itself! The knob completely turned by itself, I zoomed in! You should clear your house with sage and call upon Arch Angel Micheal to clear your home! You don't want ghosts around your baby! They can do things you can't even imagine!
Its this thing call pressure the door probably was not fully closed my door does the same thing and I know its not haunted cause our house is the newest one on the block so its just pressure
What time? Mi Vida en Guatemala
hun......
Definitely not it gets worse that way the word is call upon God not no angel they cannot help u its satan that u really are asking for help from.
YAY YOUR BACK
Your baby has one of those street play rugs! Oh my goodness I had one of those too.
Lol when you pulled up the picture of Japan, the circle around Okinawa and Okinawa itself makes a face XD
I agree it the best part to see her so happen
He tried the miso cookies and liked them. He'll have a taste of the candies when he gets a little older.
the door opened by itself, scared me aha

Arigato for eat candys of my country
Great video. a lot of that looks really yummy!!!!
Hey Emmy if you haven't been to Okinawa hopefully you can get there. It was an Independent Kingdom of the Ryukyus before Japan illegally overthrew it. I love traveling to that island to visit friends & relatives.
