  • Jared Rudiger, Head Coach at Fort Collins High School, talks about how to find the hardest working athletes in the gym.
One foolproof way to measure an athlete's work ethic is to incorporate conditioning into try-outs. Whether that's running a mile, sprints, push-ups, burpees or another workout, look for the athletes who are putting in maximum effort (which does not always correlate with who is in the best physical shape). After conditioning, reincorporate skill drills to see how players adapt to skill work while being fatigued.
