Hi, I'm Jayce, the blacksmith behind Farmstead Forge. I am a farrier by trade; I learned the basics of blacksmithing at shoeing school and the rest I learned on my own. I'm excited to expand my knowledge and continue learning while also sharing my passion with others.
Join me in the shop on my Montana farmstead where I enjoy building tools and other fun projects that we can use around the place.

I'm a very strong person, I have swung a sledge like that many times, but the ease and accuracy he is doing it, makes me feel like I should never pick up a sledge again lol
pretty impressive dude 👍👍
Thank you - although roughing out one, maybe two sets of tongs with the sledge is about all I've got in me for a day 🙂
Like the power hammer, nice and fast . Also your punch design is nice
Thank you, I love my power hammer, thanks for your comment!
Its a great tutorial sir! 👍
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I have a pair of wolf jaw tongs that I forged for myself and I use them all the time. However I like your design better I will need to make a pair of these for myself thanks for sharing and nice work godbless and be safe.
Thanks! What is it that you liked about them?
The longer jaws and the slightly off front tooth. I think that is a good idea just incase the front teeth failed for some reason you could always repair it and get back to work.
@@mountainwolf1 Yes it does give you a couple different options. Thanks for letting me know!
nice work, a runaround video on your power hammer would be good
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try to get to it this summer!
I really enjoyed this session. Have some flat jaw blanks that I could not decide what to do with them…looks like they will be wolf jaws!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Great job, they are a handy addition and save your bacon sometimes.
Definitely! Thanks for watching!
I like the idea of using sucker rod but not available to me in my area. I'm envious,,,lol. Subbed also. Thanx!~
We are fortunate to live close-ish to the oil fields so it it is commonly used around our area for fencing and corrals . Thanks for subscribing!
Good work Tong. Keep going 👍👍
Thanks, I plan on it!
Very nice set of Tongs. Great material sucker rod, most is 4140-4130.
Thank you. I especially like the sucker rod because it is easy to source and reasonably priced!
Great Work and thanks for the tip, i had a lot of that sucker rod i always wondered what kind of steel it was.
Nice!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Great demo. Clear explanations. Nice video. Aren't wolf jaws the best tongs?
Thank you for the compliments - they are a handy tong to have!
why would you use a power hammer when your making a tutorial for beginners ?
I show all of the important steps by hand. Drawing out by hand is a skill you should knoow before attempting to make tongs. Thanks for watching.
