Mikes product review wg324e pruning saw: can it slice through a 7 inch log!?

  • so the undecided 12cm / 5 inch pruning saw....
    this is basicly a baby chainsaw on steroids, it has more than enough torque to chew through even the hardest limbs, keep the cuts sensible and she will sign all day long (so long as your batteries can keep up) im sure most will only be trimming small branches and twigs but i thought i might find out and push it to its limits.... 7 inch log should do the trick! **Spoiler alert**: it cuts it with ease and cleanly too.
    I think its size is deceiving and will probably catch a few unwary people out so I will say this now - treat it like a real chainsaw and you will still have a full set of 10 fingers and thumbs!
    another fantastic little tool to have in you arsenal of worx tools!

    I bought two. I use one for opening trails when out in my Bronco 4 wheeling. The other for around the yard pruning limbs and cutting logs as big as 12" round. GREAT little saw. I have a large MIlwaukee e-saw for lumber. Why use a big heavy saw when all you need is this little jewel. The only down side is no bar n chain oiler. So make sure you bring oil with you, any oil will do.

    Thanks for showing how to do the basic oiling and tensioning. Gives me confidence to use the thing. The cryptic directions that came with this pruner are not helpful. This is the type of video explainers Worx should be doing to show how to use its products instead of relying on poor paper illustrations and terse word directions. The videos I see from the company are just promos. I already bought the product….I want to know how to start using it. Thanks again for your good work and willingness to do this video.

      Many thanks, in this modern world of multilingual and universal marketing I understand why manufacturers want simple easy to digest instruction manuals (remember the days of detailed bibles with products written in 30 different languages!?) Most worx pamphlet manuals are made using the simplistic "ikea" style system but I do find it sometimes lacks important details, yes there are extensive written does and dont's but if important stuff is hidden in there it might be overlooked and not adhered to, I Try and keep my videos comprehensive and factual, less opinionated more - this is what it CAN do make up your own mind if it's suitable for YOUR task and needs, only essential safety and maintaince is covered but I will lean in a bit heavy if it is more safety focused / your tool will not last 2 seconds without this. :-) such as oiling your chain :-) happy worxing and look forward to your future viewership.

      Great you got it out, try looking up a 'step cut' you cut half way under first then back towards the tree on top but about 1 inch before the under cut...... I recently done a LANTRA tree cutting course and learnt all about the different cuts and methods, I will post a tutorial video in due course, hopefully everyone can learn how to safely take down trees without any bad side affects.

      It's no replacement for a full size chainsaw and lacks the autolube so you know one day you will forget this and the first thing to remind you will probably be a burning smell along with that 'whoops' moment! Other than that it is faultless really.

    Well that can be considered as over the limit test,
    love if i could get on how long one single battery could go...
    and the machine itself could continuously working before it get hot and auto over heat stop.
    Limit test are always the best one for evaluating machine like this when there are a lot of competitors available out there.
    best regards.

      I will conduct this test and find out..... in fact I could actually do this for ALL my worx tools..... I have made a special rig to test power consumption so could easily find the maximum current draw of any tool and either make calculations and then prove in real life, I also have a laser thermometer as well as probe testers too so this coukd also be viable material for both retrospective and future videos.

    • @mikesptworld
      @mikesptworld  11 місяців тому

      Not good :-/ OK the reason it's stuck is because you cut underneath.... anyway the solution is to take weight off of it, I assume you tried taking off a big limb / branch? So you Need to prop the weight off of the bit you were trying to chop off, it's like a pair of pliers let go and take the weight off and they release, you need to take the weight off and the saw will be released :-)

    Does the wood debris jam inside of it? I bought a Chinese one that works ok. But the chain gets jammed from the cut debris and I have to disassemble to clean it out. I use it to give a smooth shave on my sago palms. Maybe it's what I'm cutting causing the jam? I like this one. Debating to buy it and have an extra.

    • @mikesptworld
      @mikesptworld  2 роки тому +1

      I dare say if you attempt cutting something slightly silly and damp or sappy like conifer then you will get an expected result, in my use I have cut seasoned redwood, oak and maple with very impressive results, I woukd reccomend oiling the chain after every log cut due to the lack of autocue, it is a pruner and I honestly don't think worx ever envisioned some idiot like me attempting to slice through a 7 inch log with a 5 inch bar! Lol though it proves it can more than pull its weight.

    Cool demo! I expected that there would be classical sawing of branches 1-3 centimeters thick. WORX makes a good tool, for example, the STIHL GTA 26 has definitely less power. The lack of a lubrication system is disappointing. Also, they don't sell wg324e cheaply. Therefore, I looked at having a larger chain and lubrication system.

    • @mikesptworld
      @mikesptworld  2 роки тому

      Many thanks, yeah I thought I would try a larger log as it is unlikely that anyone would buy it with the intention of wanting to cut a 7 inch diameter log but proving it is more than capable of this means it will go through normal branches with ease! I would have to say it really needs fresh lube after every cut in reality, this is annoying but you can't take away the fact it can more than take care of itself when pushed to the limit! I might try and do a short on a 10 inch log just to show its mightyness 🤔 though I think sawing a reclaimed oak railway sleeper may be more challenging? :-)
