Actually, with a little bit of extra work on the GM's part, it sounds like the scenario could be adopted to a scifi setting like Traveller. It would be off beat for the setting but potentially a lot of fun. The party would have access to more resources and could puzzle some things out better, but on some advanced planets that are even more dependent on computers, the entity could also wreak all kinds of havoc. Especially if one or more chatracters have cybernetics. One second Charlie or whoever would be researching the thing on the net, and the next the party sees Charlie repeatedly punching himself with his own bionic arm...
Hey Seth! I saw when you played this with the guys from Glass Cannon Network and it was great! I was driving at the time and more than once had to pull over to stop laughing so hard! I hope you guys get to do more collaborations.
It would be awesome if you gave a scenario review of another Things We Leave Behind scenario "The Night Season". I find its concept fascinating and would love to hear your take on it.
Another way to point to industrial part is the industrial side. Some sort of side health problem common to bodies reflective of exposure to some of chemicals which would be in this industrial area. Asking around find out about some place abandoned while driving around. Plus the internet tracking you say once in area.
There was also a similar episode in Season 1 of Angel. A demonic parasite was meeting new hosts at hook up bars looking to finally find a compatible body and as soon as it leaves the old body it starts decaying almost immediately.
Maybe have the creature order parts for the device to a particular location. Maybe someone saw multiple people that all happen to match the descriptions of the victims collecting the packages. The PCs might be able to use that as a sting setup or follow the creature to the industrial park.
The Glass Cannon Intimate Encounters game play was pretty funny but I felt like Seth was the only guy who actually knew how to play a sci-fi cosmic horror investigation game
A proposal re: The Engineering skill. I wouldn't want to tell the players to bring the skill if I could help it. Too much of a spoiler for me, so here's my thought: Have an NPC engineer be included... a brilliant but, clumsy, four-eyed annoyance of a bureaucrat who belittles and drags the party along at first. He's also (just by coincidence) very impressed with his own textbook and notebooks, etc (which he, of course, forces the party to drag around in multiple stuffed briefcases) Then, he inevitably dies (or becomes the host of the entity somehow) during the second act of the adventure--late enough to show the entity having a counter to advanced tech--the group would be left with a handful of annotated textbooks, notebooks and heaps of paper diagrams. These are detailed enough to allow them to attempt some fairly specific, story-relevant engineering tasks with a more common skill (probably Library Use) which will *also* help make up for the restriction on internet searches that would naturally be part of the adventure's scenario, since I wouldn't want a heavily-invested character in Library Use to feel shut down. The tradeoff here would be that it would obviously take some extra time, but there's this could encourage a PC to improve their Engineering skill as well, possibly being a neat turning point for a PC's skills.
Can you review “Never Going Home”? It’s a strange occult WW1 game, 20 bucks a book, by wet ink spot games or something. The artstyle is cool but wow the writing is pretty poor in the preview considering how much the game seems to hinge on it ig not sure if i should buy it
Thank you for the content that you make I enjoy watching your channel. I'm going to be running Horror on the Orient Express after the first of the year but my group is 6 - 7 players, do you have any tips for handling larger groups in Call of Cthulhu?
7:03 - Anything that can be too much can be foreshadowed and then it's up to the players to notice. Maybe when it notices there's a certain type of static that runs across the screen/goes through the speaker and then .. something happens Maybe the first time they get a shock and drop their phone. When they pick it back up they found it hit the ground just right to be unusable. They buy a new one and this time - static - then ransomware. They go to a library or some public rental and then - static - a power line in the wall overheats tripping the fire alarm, dousing them and destroying all the computers in the place. At that point they ought to notice and it might start watching rather than reacting. One way to hint further is to make the static resemble the pattern of holes.
Hey Seth! I think you should take a look into "Monophobia" which has three scenarios meant for 1 on 1 play. They're really cool and interesting enough for a video.
Im talking in the context of an ongoing campaign more than one shots - but the bit you mention about niche rolls such as engineering or physics coming up and not being a lot of fun if your players dont have them... its really a point i struggle with on the cthulhu system because of how regularly it happens. Theres so many niche skills that It seems like if you as a GM arent actively rewriting modules to your PCs skills that you're going to be throwing lots of opportunities for cool moments that they cant do more often than not in their faces. That 80% flying skill for aircraft (but not dirigible, thats a seperate skill) your ex ww1 pilot has is going to be an albatross about their neck in most published modules... and bad luck if you studied german instead of the french required to read the current modules tomes. it sucks having a generalist who only has a 50% chance at best on most of their rolls and it sucks having irrelevant expertise so my players now focus on a few core investigation skills, a combat focus and maybe climbing / jumping or driving... because those are the ones that you'll be rolling most and matter the most. the thematics and uniqueness of the setting really butt up against the regular module tropes in extended play. You can only have your professor of mathematics or professional dancer get stabbed by cultists or die fleeing in a car crash so many times before playing with the odds stacked against you stops feeling like survival horror and more like you're funneling ill equipped PCs into a meat grinder. Im reminded of that tumblr post where the guys complaining about how he keeps having to get a new cat from the shelter cos they keep getting eaten by coyotes. My players have started ditching poorly focused but fun character ideas for a more restrained subset that stand a chance of solving the mystery and surviving confrontations along the way... they're tired of whiffing their library rolls not finding call for thier expertise in anthropology and otherwise feeding the coyotes. Its really driving me towards playing pulp cthulhu with more rounded and capable PCs for extended play and only doing straight cthulhu modules as oneshots with specific scenario appropriate pregenerated charachters similar to the alien RPG
I love the way Seth talks as DM so much that I’ve started talking the same way to my players, I think it’s improved my DM skill a bit even, when I’m describing locations specifically! Sorry for ripping off your sultry tones Seth! Think of it as an homage. 😅

Also, does anyone know what the Cthulhu books with those ominous blood red and green lettering are? I admit I only find them interesting because of the colour scheme. I THINK the red one is the anniversary Keeper book?
I claim that Dr. Vandehey is a jerk. I've known a large number of professors of science. They're usually really good at picking up tabs when they know they make more than the others (usually students).
Yeah, It would be intrresting if the pc could actually talk things out with the maybe help it leave without nuking the town. Maybe when youre able to catfish it, it could have a apologetic confession what and why its gonna kill you etc.
The monster is kinda similar to a villain/ally? NPC in my campaign. It’s a computer program that’s infiltrated most electronic devices in the world and can manipulate things online with ease. I originally had it as the villain of a oneshot I set in the early 80s that was kinda like Tron meets Saw and the PCs failed so that’s why they have to deal with this in our current game.

Hey Seth! I saw when you played this with the guys from Glass Cannon Network and it was great! I was driving at the time and more than once had to pull over to stop laughing so hard! I hope you guys get to do more collaborations.
He did a 10 episode Traveller series with them called Voyagers of the Jump. ua-cam.com/video/_5ESEkFoOdE/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TheGlassCannonNetwork
Love your work seth
A scenario based off my favorite Kolchak episode? Oh what a find!
It would be awesome if you gave a scenario review of another Things We Leave Behind scenario "The Night Season". I find its concept fascinating and would love to hear your take on it.
The only news network I trust is the Two America's
I'm happy to see that seth had his new elder sign installed in the background.
6:50 I thought you said the FBI wasn't involved in the adventure, this thing's taking right out of their playbook.
Another way to point to industrial part is the industrial side. Some sort of side health problem common to bodies reflective of exposure to some of chemicals which would be in this industrial area. Asking around find out about some place abandoned while driving around. Plus the internet tracking you say once in area.
Now I finally remember what I was supposed to do a while ago, you play intimate encounters.
i just had the strangest idea
a CoC game but the party is scooby doo.
Thanks, Seth! Have been waiting for the new video. Absolutely love your content
There was also a similar episode in Season 1 of Angel. A demonic parasite was meeting new hosts at hook up bars looking to finally find a compatible body and as soon as it leaves the old body it starts decaying almost immediately.
I watched the video series of you playing this game with Glass Cannon. I loved the sleazy crew y’all played. Good times.
loved watching Seth play with Glass Cannon Need to see more of these types on games
Maybe have the creature order parts for the device to a particular location. Maybe someone saw multiple people that all happen to match the descriptions of the victims collecting the packages. The PCs might be able to use that as a sting setup or follow the creature to the industrial park.
This was some of your best NPC work to date. Very funny! Thx!!
Good work Seth.
Too much of a spoiler for me, so here's my thought:
Have an NPC engineer be included... a brilliant but, clumsy, four-eyed annoyance of a bureaucrat who belittles and drags the party along at first. He's also (just by coincidence) very impressed with his own textbook and notebooks, etc (which he, of course, forces the party to drag around in multiple stuffed briefcases)
Then, he inevitably dies (or becomes the host of the entity somehow) during the second act of the adventure--late enough to show the entity having a counter to advanced tech--the group would be left with a handful of annotated textbooks, notebooks and heaps of paper diagrams.
I loved watching you play in this scenario.
Thanks for the video, seth! I enjoyed watching you play chuck when you guys did this scenario!
Yo! I remember watching this game of yours! Such a good time! Thanks for the backhand side of things
Depending on the size of the userbase of said website - people also could be rationalizing that it couldn't POSSIBLY happen to them.
Great shirt! Love the Thickets!
Rumor has it the company is still paying off that exotic seafood delivery.
Can you review “Never Going Home”? It’s a strange occult WW1 game, 20 bucks a book, by wet ink spot games or something. The artstyle is cool but wow the writing is pretty poor in the preview considering how much the game seems to hinge on it ig
not sure if i should buy it
Really hope you get a chance to try your hand at escape from innsmouth some time. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it at the very least!
Haha! Jack's username joke punchline got me.😝

The story told from the other perspective is Quantum Leap
Oscar writes good stuff, used to seeing his work at Golden Goblin these days.
Sounds also that old episode of Angel involving a body taking Demon looking for a home.
Maybe when it notices there's a certain type of static that runs across the screen/goes through the speaker and then .. something happens
Maybe the first time they get a shock and drop their phone.
Love the pattern of holes idea!
helium-3 could work for the chemical noted in the suggestion at 21:46
Yeay. Another adventure to come along with, I'm trying to covert this to Pathfinder, cause I can't get my friends to convert to call of.
Hey Seth! I think you should take a look into "Monophobia" which has three scenarios meant for 1 on 1 play. They're really cool and interesting enough for a video.
Two Americas News Network?
@@NPC_Paparazzi what?
A Kolchak: The Night Stalker shout out. Very nice
Do I spot the reprint of the West End Games Star Wars Roleplaying game on the top shelf in the background? I see Mr. Skorkowsky is a man of great taste.
Also, does anyone know what the Cthulhu books with those ominous blood red and green lettering are? I admit I only find them interesting because of the colour scheme. I THINK the red one is the anniversary Keeper book?
Also bears a fair resemblance to the episode “Lonely Hearts” from season two of Angel.
Yeah, the possession monster that uses hook-up culture to jump from host to host reminded me of that immediately.
Incredible!
I'm thinking of adapting this scenario for 90s Delta Green! Wish me luck
I claim that Dr. Vandehey is a jerk. I've known a large number of professors of science. They're usually really good at picking up tabs when they know they make more than the others (usually students).
Another good touchstone is the 1st season Angel episode "Lonely Hearts".
I been meaning to write up a the Kolchak alien episode for COC.
Yeah, It would be intrresting if the pc could actually talk things out with the maybe help it leave without nuking the town. Maybe when youre able to catfish it, it could have a apologetic confession what and why its gonna kill you etc.
Great review!
Another great review!
"Here lies a sex worker...uhh... probably."
The podcast was awesome Seth!
