@@jenniferm3572 Wake up to what soon!? So alarmist it's gotten pathetic. I heard the same line of baloney when Obama took office on 2008. He took office with just shy of 300 million guns in private hands. Every gun fanatic screaming about "they're coming for the guns now FOR SURE!" 8 years later, Obama is gone and we have over 400 million guns in private hands by 2016. As my dad, and his dad, always said: Nobodies coming to take your guns. Their ambitious, pie in the sky bureaucrats, but most of them aren't suicidal. Been hearing that since they stopped letting people buy machine guns. Maybe if so many of those so fervent about their guns also weren't constantly talking about "taking back out country" (news flash, it's not just the fanatics country) and saying stuff like "we are WAY past elections at this point", you wouldn't make people nervous enough to want to restrict your rights to start with. Responsible gun ownership INCLUDES calling out fanatical, irresponsible language, provocation, and not parading around scaring the beejezuz out of your fellow citizens and neighbors, so you can prove you're a real 'Murican, and own some guns. So do millions of other people who don't feel the need to parade around in public with them.
Amen. I’ve tried for 42 years to get mental health help for my younger brother. He’s been homeless and in and out of the justice system all this time. His problem is he doesn’t think he has a mental health problem and won’t accept help. That’s the other side of the problem.
That's how it works these days, nothing can be done unless the individual thinks they need help. Part of mental health issues seem to be that the individual thinks they are right and everyone else has the issues. I've been involved in trying to get help for a couple of people in my wife's extended family and it's a fruitless task so can sympathize with you angst with your brother. It's disgusting that we spend all this money on illegal immigrants while are cities are full of homeless people with mental health and drug issues that are mostly the reason they are homeless. let's have some charity at home.
Mentally sick people never think they are sick, they think everyone else is sick. The mental health people have a very low success rate. They are good at diagnosing, and tell you how the patient got there, but they don't cure squat. One of these days MAYBE, but it will be a long time. The only people that MIGHT get "cured" are the ones that see the light and TRY and work with the mental health people. If the patient does NOT do that, it is HOPELESS.
My sister has schizo affective disorder and I can tell you that the only way she’s able to find any balance is with constant love and support. She’s rebuilt her life and burned it down so many times that at 46 she can no longer live on her own and needs reminders every morning to take her medication. Takes a village, yet too many people don’t have the needed safety nets in place.
@@rockhopper01agreed, it's as if people feel like blanket labeling " mental health problem " will make reality easier to cope with but the reality is that there are bad, evil people out there and they don't know how to deal with that.
You have to really strive to not get sucked in to the drama. I use social media to keep in touch with friends and family. You have to avoid the drama and do your best not to get drawn into it
If anything aggravates you, avoid it. People just need to take inventory of their lives every once in a while and ask whether the things that are in their lives are actually improving it in some way, and if the answer is no and it’s not necessary or some responsibility, then cut it out. Piling up awful things is what eventually breaks your mental health. It’s very rarely ever one thing. It’s the weight of too many things you should have gotten rid of years ago.
I am all for compassion. But some of these people will NEVER see anyone as anything thing but a target. If they can't find a victim, they become a victim. As much as I would hate to see "unwell" people mistreated, they don't "add anything" to society but fear.
Reagan was behind it. I think something to do with how much tax money was spent on the institutions. Plus the abuse stories were coming out left and right. But using jails to hold and house the same sort of people who were in an institution back then, is nearly like being in those institutions, but without the meds. So, why not bring them back? Better spending than on all the "migrants". Close the border and help the mentally ill.
At 71 I am totally confused and tired of where this country is going. Our "government" so busy fighting each other that the country is going to heck in a hand basket. Both sides. Where has the civility gone? We have a right to have differing opinions, but we as a people need to understand that. Sit down and talk to each other with respect not anger.

I came here to say: The slide of western civilization toward doom, began when WWII veterans stopped running the show. Proper stewardship continued for a few decades on sheer momentum, and because they had mentored their replacements well. Their wisdom did not seep into the souls past the third generation’s stewardship. Now, here we are.

It ain't money. We've thrown billions at so-called remedies. When we kicked Christ out of our schools, homes, and government we began the tailspin into this morass. This is a moral, spiritual problem, pure and simple. If you trust man or his government to fix these problems, then welcome to the Twilight Zone.

It’s the dismal tide, Hickok. I’m not sure I’d call it hate, but I am very angry with my countrymen and women who are so very bent on tearing down everything that has made this country so successful, and I’m just not going to tolerate it. I _will_ call that behavior out wherever I see it, and I _will_ seek to counter it. Enough is enough, already. ‘Nuf said.
"The mania for giving the Government power to meddle with the private affairs of cities or citizens is likely to cause endless trouble, through the rivalry of schools and creeds that are anxious to obtain official recognition, and there is great danger that our people will lose our independence of thought and action which is the cause of much of our greatness, and sink into the helplessness of the Frenchman or German who expects his government to feed him when hungry, clothe him when naked, to prescribe when his child may be born and when he may die, and, in fine, to regulate every act of humanity from the cradle to the tomb, including the manner in which he may seek future admission to paradise." - Mark Twain
Well said Hickok45. Some people hide behind social media to be mean. Some people believe everything they read. Mental health is a huge problem today, everywhere.
i 86'ed all social media, youtube is all i have left. i live in a small bush community in Alaska with a small grocery store, 2 bars , a package store (i dont drink) 2 gas stations a 1000 meter shooting range and a gun store, the school still has a shooting team, we all know each other and its the closest thing to ''how things used to be'' ive come across in my travels thus far, and that makes it easy to step back from online toxicity. but it also means that once its gone its really gone ,i try to make every second matter, and focus on friends and fam, riding my dirt bike, frisbee with my dogs, hunt ,fish, ect. since i kicked social media to the curb my quality of life and living has risen higher than the sun.
I did the same thing with all my social media. I deleted it all, but I'm still on youtube. Im think8ng of getting rid of youtube as well. Anything related to the internet has just become toxic now.
Well that's a great way to live but how do you make money to buy bullets and fishing gear. What should the other 333,000,000 million people in the United States do ? I think Alaska would be overwhelmed.
I get it, but you have to educate yourself and participate or someone else will. That's how all this happened. The regular decent folks disengaged. Social media is full of junk but not ALL junk. It's also one of the only places to find the truth.

This man is stating the obvious, we need to care for each other rather that hating other folks. This country has come to reflect our schizophrenic behaving leadership. IMHO
In a country of countless disparate ethnic groups, caring for each other becomes less and less likely. People are tribal by nature. We soundly defeated nationalism 80 years ago and this is the result.

I'm almost 24 and I'm on the same boat. Honestly I'm embarrassed with how people my age act. Not only are they freakin' soft, but they're stupid (if not, then the act fooled me) and immature. I'm not saying all of the others my age are all of the above, but a percentage that's far too big to be brushed off are, and it is (or at least, should be) enough to give anyone second-hand embarrassment. I often find myself looking back and wondering how people let it get to this point, and what it would take (or at least, if it's even possible) to push back against it all

Unwed mothers raise children who behave badly. This is a fact. Society has a problem facing FACTS. There are many that are completely ignored because of misguided political considerations. When we address these issues, we can BEGIN to correct them. Until we do, it is all talk and BS Edit: I know there are some kids raised by single mothers, who grow up just fine, they are the exception, not the overwhelming majority. We need to deal with what is common, not what is exceptional.
I put it this way... All of this started when they took the single serving knuckle sandwich off the menu on the playground in the western world. In the past if you said or did something truly bad, and kids were great natural judges of this, you earned a single serving of the knuckle sandwich. Almost every time it was served it was deserved. The person receiving it got instant clear feedback and accepted the correction, while not suffering undue harm. If delivered undeserved the playground took care of that with either a single serving back and/or social outcasting for an appropriate amount of time for the original knuckle man. The main benefit of the playground was everyone learned from each incident not just the parties directly involved. The learning happened at a key time in a persons development. As you aged from primary to high school the level of power behind a knuckle sandwich went from a sting to potentially damaging. That natural progression caused a decrease in needed use as everyone learned on the exponential curve, sinking in the idea of FAFO. We all also learned that speech cannot be offensive, being offended is an emotional response not something someone can really do to you. Sticks and Stones sunk in as well. Ultimately this created better behaved and better adjusted adults. Removing this tool has created a generation of entitled snowflakes while also awakening the older generations Karens.
"The machine is as good as the operator." Firearms are a tool, and it's a tool that makes destroying something or someone much easier to achieve. A vehicle is a mode of transportation, not designed to destroy something or someone, so that's a false equivalence argument.
We've had a parenting problem not teaching individual responsibility, we've had a social problem with the breakdown of the family unit, and a mental health problem. Great content, sir!
very well said, I've noticed an utter and complete culture shift for the worst, it feels like a completely different world than even 2012ish. Something has also changed to where it's all about me-me-me and screw everyone else as a mentality just oozing from a ton of people's actions, thoughts, and words. Online has become extremely vile and toxic too over the years. "Gatekeeping" and finding any and everything wrong with another person's life or decisions even if they don't harm another soul. I could say something as simple as I ate a burger and these weird online people would come up with 10+ different reasons why I was "wrong" for what I did...from, the place I got it from, my condiments, not making it at home, if I did make it at home using premade patties and not getting my hands all gross rolling up hamburger meat, making it in my foreman grille fast instead of some fancy grille/stove-top, using beef instead of chicken, not using expensive grass fed organic meat, using meat at all instead of veggies, if I made everything completely from scratch, oh-and not using cast iron lol...and that stuff is just off the top of my head. I mostly just stick to myself these days and a small circle of friends, read/watch stuff I'm personally interested in for entertainment and education, since the world has gone so downhill. It's sad, truly sad. I'm only mid 30s too, I can only imagine how the older generations feel. It seems like some peoples' entire lives revolve around being very toxic and vile online. I've recently gotten on a kick of watching ww2 veteran interviews and I lost the comment I wanted to reply to on there but they were saying they were in their mid 30s too and felt SO alone and isolated in even caring about that subject, that nobody our age nonetheless gen z and the younger generation below that seem to give an ounce of care about learning about it and from people that lived through it/veterans. Parents didn't raise the younger generations right, a culture shift completely away from the family unit, and rife mental health problems everywhere have put us in a bad spot. I won't go on and on anymore lol. Just felt this comment and the vid in general were very relatable it was like a breath of fresh air. I'm glad I'm certainly not alone in feeling stuff is wrong or knowing about what went wrong at least
So many of these problems can be traced to our 'elected officials'. Ask you friends and neighbors if they voted the same way you did. You may be surprised at how many people voted differently than the outcomes.
I was a high school English teacher for the first ten years of my career in the mid-1990s. I remember telling my students to put away the newspapers when class was about to start; today I'm telling students to put their phones away while I'm teaching class. I miss the days of the newspapers!

As for the newspapers, English teachers are happy to have students reading anything these days! You pick your battles in the Education field; that's one reason I've lasted for 30 years.
@@theenglishprofessor8411Firstly, I see no evidence that children have changed, nor do I believe they ever will. To be clear, the inherent qualities of children-such as their curiosity, energy, and unique perspective-do not change, even though the world around them does. ‘Kids will be kids,’ as the saying goes, and recalling a time when you were one of them can greatly inform your own educational approach. These qualities will remain consistent through generations. Whether it was asking students to put away newspapers in the past or phones today, I firmly believe that the true objective of an educator is to guide them towards learning and understanding, as it is also a teacher’s job to adapt to these challenges. Can’t love this video more. I recently saw a message on Instagram that said something to the affect of “The cure for society’s problems is a generation of great dads.” Imagine that. Imagine how many less boys would end up in gangs if there weren’t so many single moms. Imagine how many fewer girls would be single moms if they grew up with a dad that taught them self respect and what a real man looks like by simply being there for her mother? Imagine how many fewer school shootings there’d be if kids grew up in homes where mom and dad are there to constantly reassure and guide them thru good times and bad. Def not the gun’s fault. Us men and women simply need to be there for our kids. Once u make that decision to bring a precious child into this world, you have to promise yourself that u will put everything you’ve got into their upbringing.

Mental health will remain a problem because it's not profitable, same as helping the homeless, profit over people. Here in Florida, a builder won a bid to change a empty mall into affordable housing, decided midway, he wanted luxury apartments. Got caught and the county told him build affordable housing or pay 18 million dollar fine, guess what he did? If your thinking affordable housing, think again. Profit over people.
The problem there is that turning it into affordable housing would have turned that area into a crime filled shithole and ruined all the surrounding businesses, bled the city of tax revenue, and started a total collapse. Turning it into luxury apartments gentrifies the area, massively lowers crime and raises tax revenues, and benefits the city overall.
Did they actually spend it on homeless programs? Or did they funnel the money into 'Agencies' and 'NFP's' that paid themselves and associated companies to funnel the money into their own pockets rather than towards actual programs to help the Homeless? So much of our Welfare ends up in Corporations pockets instead of trying to solve the issues the money is supposed to be spent on. It's not just those fat Military Contracts that are pilfered and end up in offshore accounts. It's happening across the board. We the Sheeple indeed. While we scream at the TV when we see some poor guy pushing a shopping trolley with all of his worldly possessions - there are a bunch of people living it up in expensive housing 'compounds' and on their second yacht they bought with the money you thought was going to 'help' the guy pushing that trolley.
Thank you, Hickok45. As one who had a brother who was housed in one, I believe much of today's problems grew when halfway houses and institutions for mentally-challenged were closed with most of the occupants being mainstreamed into society. My brother had a difficult time living and surviving, let alone living a happy life.

Banning denial of mental health issues would be more effective than any direct crime-fighting initiatives or bans on simple, common devices. Great video, totally agree, and I hope people will take your message to heart.

Very well said. I'm a Pediatrician. Kids today are lost. They know how to text but not Talk. Parents want to be "friends" with their children and not Parents. There are no free rides. Rely on God to light your feet on the path of success.
Well said and a great observation. My sister is bent on being her kids friend, not a parent. She now has 3 children with great potential, and no direction or compass.
THIS right here, parents do not know HOW to be parents, they let the kids run rampant with no consequences. Consequences are a MUST and they are not taught them. The other problem are smart phones and computers. Kids do not know how to interact with each other unless its via a screen and poor vocabulary. We were more intelligent and respectful before computers.
Oversimplification. Almost every answer is. Finger pointing is absolutely a large part. What ever happened to the expression, "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". Or "let he without sin cast the first stone". People are way too fast to point fingers elsewhere before looking inward.
Governments run on what they think they hear from the people. There is to much noise from minoritys pushing their own agendas and not enough being heard from the silent majority who just want to get on with life. Mr. Hickok, when you said "Take care of each other", I think you've got it, right there. Just my opinion... everyone wants to talk, and no one wants to listen. I am 72 and was raised in a poor home. My father was career air force. When I was a kid every car in the parking lot at school had a shotgun, rifle, or both in the gun rack and I never heard of a school shooting. They closed all the mental institutions in the early 70's because people were abusing them. Since then, the number of prisons has doubled and troubled people have no place to get care. The crazy people have taken over our schools and made them into indoctrination centers teaching our children to hate the country and that you can be anything you want.

I agree. However, how could one blame the parents when the local and state governments take the power away from the parents? In schools with teachers, school nurse and general staff are all mandated reporters, the smallest things are considered “child abuse”, nowadays. It’s considered “child abuse” to raise your voice at your children, now. You can’t yell at them. You can’t deprive them of their stuff. You can’t spank them. It’s no wonder children are out of control these days.
Roughly 25 -30% is a fair estimate. There are so many issues. Like 11 year olds that still poop there pants. They should not be in public school in my opinion. If the parents have not potty trained them by 5th grade. The poor kids just don’t have the mental capacity. And would be far better served in a special school.
@@IemonandIimewith special ed kids, it depends on the disorder, a lot of it is genetics and runs in families, bipolar, ADHD, autism, schizophrenia, things like that. There's also plenty who have been neglected or abused, some who start using drugs at an early age. For a lot its a combination of these things.
This video caught me off guard. The issues you raise, we also suffer from here in the UK, our shooting fraternity is small, so the issue definitely isn't gun related. Your point about caring for one another, and investing more into mental health are spot on the money, in my opinion. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, and having the courage to share your concerns. All the best. Keep up the good work.
You're exactly right. Why can't the politicians realize that ? Instead of blaming guns. Why not invest money into mental health programs. Go in to the schools and start some programs on bullying. That is a major problem that contributes to the start of mental health problems with kids in school.
Bullying is a big problem, whether from home or from schools. Problem is schools do not do enough to curb bullying. With the technology today a person doesn't get to escape those people when they leave school. Then we have kids that are being told to not cry about something, it isn't worth crying over. The kids learn to hide their feelings. Then when they are having mental health problems, they don't want to talk about it or maybe they feel like they can't. Then you combine the two situations with bullying at school and not being able to talk about it at home.
Thats why they want to dismantle the nuclear family so much. they indoctrinate these lifestyles that are "free" and they DO NOT promote good non-toxic family values.
@@Furlugeexactly. They’ve made it, by design, too easy for a couple to divorce and then have the government step in with assistance and strings for the parent with the kids (almost always the female) while the father is forced to live in poverty or worse because of insane child support amounts and yanking drivers licenses if behind on support payments (umm how’s he supposed to make the money to pay the support). And all manner of other government intrusions and infringements upon liberty and freedom that serve nothing more than to give the government control over people. Government is supposed to be responsive to the needs of the people NOT make them needy.
I agree with this. You mentioned the family unit. Many families are dysfunctional and broken. Personally, many children need the guidance of both parents. The wholeness of a family contributes, positively, on how the child is raised. I was on the receiving end of this dysfunction. My mom was distraught and told me that my dad wasn't coming back. I was perplexed and upset at that time. This happened 60 years ago and I am 66. I still remember this like it happened a few years ago. I did ok but had doubts and some anxiety over the years about whether I was doing something wrong or right in my decisions. I even have my doubts about writing this comment. Then I wondered how many other children and their confidence levels were put into this situation. I know I'm not the only one.

You nailed it with the lack of parental involvement. In Michigan, we have a chronic school absenteeism problem. Kids don't show up for school due to many issues in the home. Social media is problem #2 and we can't control it unless schools require phones to be checked at the door parents limit exposure at home. Inflation is problem #3. Families need two serious incomes to afford safe, comfortable and convenient housing and that leaves kids with social media. Big government will not solve the problems, only parents and local communities have a chance to fix this.
Inflation isn't the problem. It's wages not keeping up with inflation that is the issue. You'll hear people talk about how CEO pay is 2000% more than the bottom line workers. That number increases every year and thats not caused by inflation. Inflation over the past 2 years was 2.3%. If the economy was actually in the shitter, companies would be laying off mass amounts of people and barely staying afloat. Instead, they are raking in record profits. Low wages are the problem and have been since Reagan.

I agree wholeheartedly, I have grown up during the spring of the internet and hate, and hating on people became the norm pretty quickly while before when interactions was face to face, people tried to be more respectful even when people acted up, not always because we respected people who where acting up but because we cared how others perceived us. But with time the default attitude of the internet became the norm for face to face as well and that is when people became the worst we have ever seen!! Well yeah. We're all angry right now. The American "social contract" is the Bill of Rights. Right now our government outright refuses to uphold or even acknowledge the Bill of Rights on numerous fronts. I'm a painter. I feel like I live in some form of sadistic dystopian nightmare where I am forced to slowly torture and starve myself as I lose everything I worked and built. Now you want me to cordial and pretend to like you to your face? Your pushing it.
"Young people love the government." What is the evidence that supports that statement? I have teenage grandkids, and often have conversations with them and their friends, I have not seen that love of the government, they want desperately to care for eachother, solve the important issues, but the process of reachng that goal is often obscured by what is often intentional complexities.
Trust we do not love the government. We also don't love being trapped in crappy rentals while private equity gobbles up all the houses. We don't love wages that haven't gone up in decades while costs keep going up.
I worked in mental health for a while. The first question I was instructed to ask any new patient (suicidal included) was, "What insurance do you have?" The problem with America can summed up in one word. Greed.
That's a pretty typical liberal talking point. Has this country not ALWAYS been greedy? We were basically founded because we wanted MORE of our money. People love to say how corporations are greedy now, as if they never were? It's always been that way, it's a cop out to say greed. No one is held accountable in this country. I am a LEO in California. In this state, you literally *never* have to take care of a misdemeanor charge. You really never have to take care of an infraction such as a speeding ticket either. Why? No cop will ever arrest you for a traffic warrant. My department, it's literally not in our policy that we even can (and we're one of the largest ones in California). Let's say you have a misdemeanor warrant, which could be a LOT of things: from a burglary that was dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor (happens all the time), a domestic violence charge (same thing, dropped from felony or just a straight misd charge), weapons violation, DUI, etc. Alright, cop pulls you over for whatever, runs your ID. Boom, you pop a warrant. It's actually highly unlikely you even get arrested for it, because 95% of the time, unless you're in a very well off city with a fully funded department, they won't even arrest you because it's a waste of time. So we'll tell you to call the court and figure it out. Okay you get arrested. Now what? We take you to the jail...you get your fingerprints done, probably get a meal, and take your photograph. Few hours later, you're released with a ticket and...a court date! You are not held until court for a misdemeanor. You don't need to post bail. You WILL get released MANDATORY with a ticket and a court date. So, you lapse your court date again, it's been 9, 12 months etc. You get pulled over again...guess what? Same. Exact. Thing. You can literally fail to appear FOREVER in this state for a misdemeanor charge. And the DA's love to change our felony arrests to misdemeanors. You will never actually be held accountable for it. We don't have a greed problem, we have an accountability problem - it's never anyone's fault for their own wrong doing, it's their parents fault, or society's fault, etc...
Thank you for expressing empathy and compassion. I wish more in our community would see the priceless strength in that. SPOT ON about the biggest issues centering around mental health. Problem is our government is too dysfunctional to solve issues anymore. Everyone is polarized and can’t move past their outrage. I wish we could finally come together to empower our politicians and leaders to create the safety nets and funding necessary to intervene before there a mental health crises ends in tragedy. Basic support begins with our own outreach, but we also need to put serious efforts into the more complex solutions for those that don’t have healthy family and friends: like better healthcare, free access to mental health medications, access to therapists, and access to needed treatment facilities. No one should have to decide between a meal, paying bills, or getting needed help. My $0.02 FWIW
I think the main problem is that we blame other instead looking at our own actions. If we get out home amd we smile at other people. And thinking about to do a good thing for others. Like adopting a motorcycle watching our distance and trying to keep it safe instead looking for something wrong. If we want to live in a better place we need to start doing our part.
I was at the range yesterday and I watched a bunch of pimple faced kids that were completely out of ethics and had no clue about gun safety. I was appalled. But then I observed a young man shooting by himself doing everything correctly and safely. I spoke with him afterwards and asked if he was former military which he was. He was only 24 but was years above those other kids. He had discipline. Something you learn in the military. Something parents aren’t teaching these days.
" As a result of today's educational policies, the majority of college graduates are virtually illiterate, in the literal and the wider sense of the word." -Ayn Rand-1972
In the old days, people had a greater sense of community. Today with no one going to church and the lack of in-person interaction from technology people have been getting very isolated.
The root of the problem is LBJ's 'Great Society' that pushed fathers out of the home so that the family could qualify for welfare, public housing, and other benefits. Without the fathers to provide an anchor and discipline for the children they've turned into animals. It's spilled over into the rest of society with the child services literally threatening to take children out of the homes if parents try to discipline them.

@@ed-gw3ov I avoid politics but i will weigh in on this. Its mostly due to poor mental healthcare in the US, and lack of education about them. About half of gun deaths are self inflicted and a large percentage are accidents, which are both counted in the gun violence statistics. While I agree there needs to be changes, there are changes that need to be made in many areas before we'll ever see a change by simply targeting guns. Most countries that have increased firearms laws *also* have better mental healthcare quality and availability. Reagan was behind it. I think something to do with how much tax money was spent on the institutions. Plus the abuse stories were coming out left and right. I'm 34 and have never had social media, no tattoos no bs. I'm a unicorn I suppose 😁
I did the same thing with all my social media. I deleted it all, but I'm still on youtube. Im think8ng of getting rid of youtube as well. Anything related to the internet has just become toxic now.

We are no longer on the same moral framework.

I was a high school English teacher for the first ten years of my career in the mid-1990s. I remember telling my students to put away the newspapers when class was about to start; today I'm telling students to put their phones away while I'm teaching class.

@@markbuckley3661Mark--normally I would agree with you, but Columbine and all of the subsequent school events similar to Columbine that happened afterward have altered what we can and cannot ask students to do. 9/11 is another example of why people should have access to phones when you think about how many people were able to phone loved ones and day goodbye.

🙄 I think he knew what he was doing all along
The problem there is that turning it into affordable housing would have turned that area into a crime filled shithole and ruined all the surrounding businesses, bled the city of tax revenue, and started a total collapse. Turning it into luxury apartments gentrifies the area, massively lowers crime and raises tax revenues, and benefits the city overall.
Its very profitable as long as its not solved. Over 20 billion in Cali alone spent on homelessness and all it did was increase the issue.
"affordable housing" = ghetto.
Thank you, Hickok45. You're exactly right. Why can't the politicians realize that ? Instead of blaming guns. Why not invest money into mental health programs. Go in to the schools and start some programs on bullying. That is a major problem that contributes to the start of mental health problems with kids in school.
Bad parenting, lack of discipline, and no thought or fear of bad decisions
Bullying is a big problem, whether from home or from schools. Problem is schools do not do enough to curb bullying. With the technology today a person doesn't get to escape those people when they leave school. Then we have kids that are being told to not cry about something, it isn't worth crying over. The kids learn to hide their feelings. Then when they are having mental health problems, they don't want to talk about it or maybe they feel like they can't. Then you combine the two situations with bullying at school and not being able to talk about it at home.

I know I'm not the only one.
the thing is in reality there has been dysfuncional famailies all the way back to hickocks day and before that, dead beat dads, wife beaters, drunks, drug addicts.in the wild west a father has been known to sell his female children into prostition when his wife dies and moves on. i bet victorian england was far worse than now. i do not think its any worse now except roads are more dangerous than when i was a kid.

Without the fathers to provide an anchor and discipline for the children they've turned into animals. It's spilled over into the rest of society with the child services literally threatening to take children out of the homes if parents try to discipline them.
