- Scott ToyGuru Neitlich discusses his favorite 200X Masters of the Universe Action Figure, Chief Carnivus. Why the character inspired him to push for an early release in the Classics line and how although not a Thundercat, he does have a reference or two!
Carnivus is definitely one of my favorites. He's also a very versatile base for customizers.
That is true. The "beasty" buck was well used here.
Whenever I see Chief Carnivus I think King Richard from Disney's Robin Hood too. Thundercats is the second thing that pops into my head.
That movie is eternal.
I never got why people made a big deal of comparing him to Thundercats. MOTU has had cat people ever since Filmation. I liked that they were brought back for 200X. I just wish we'd got to see Carnivus and Kittrina together.
Cat people are a staple of fantasy. And MOTU has a bit of everything in it.
@@spectorcreative1872 I remember when he came out, I actually posted a thread comparing several of the design elements of his weapon to Lion-O's "Sword of Omens" .... so I guess I was guilty too.
I fell in love with Carnevus figure the miniute I saw it online. When I received the figure I took a lot of pictures, because he is so inspirering. What an invincible MotU character!
Still one of my top 5 figures in the line!
Stunning Figure! one of my solid top 10
Yeah, he really holds up.
@@spectorcreative1872 I still remember your saying you carried his proto in hand luggage to the reveal! That would be scary! Hes just a really perfect figure.....and its a shame his feet etc were never reused. amazing sculpts!
Ooh, a video on the Four Horsemen's contributions to MOTU would be very much appreciated!
Thank you for sharing so many details of the Classics line so far!
My pleasure! I will definitely get to one on the Horsemen sooner than later.
Shame we didn’t get to see what Chief Carnivus would have looked like as a vintage figure. I hope they bring him in for Origins
Oh man! Now that I would buy!
That is a great character. And. You guys made him justice as an action figure. I remember. The world on the collector world was that you hated he man 2000x but I have learn since I subscribe to your channel that you are a big fan there are a lot of myths we create and then believe lol. Big fan of yours my friend
Well thank you! And glad you like the channel. So much more content to come!
He always reminds me of Thun from the Flash Gordon animations. Always a great form.
I can see that
This is one of my favorite figures from this line. Thanks for giving us this awesome line!!!
And mine too. Glad you enjoy the cat man so much.
Was his shield a nod to the Three Towers? Was there any connection to Central Tower?
That was one of those cool details the 4HM added without being asked. They rock!
My favorite Disney-movie was Robin Hood to. Chief Carnivus was my first motuc figure along with He-man and Keldor.
Nice. you can see the King Richard connection huh?
@@spectorcreative1872 I do, also my astrology sign is Leo, so lion characters have an extra + for me 😂
Please please please say something about the shield referencing the vintage eternia playset! I've been waiting to hear what the backstory was on that for years!!!
Ah! That is just one of those Horsemen details they do that no one asks for! Sorry I missed mentioning that in the video.
This was a great video and information I didn't know about one of my favorite characters and to be honest I thought he was based off of archer from small soldiers which the monster toys called gorgonites used motu as a bit of inspiration for there designs
Well design influence does come from many places!
Great video! Thank you! This was a well-done figure, and it gave me great hope for eventually getting a figure of my favourite new character, Lord Dactys. Which we got. 😁
And we got to reuse those wings a few times!
Hey Scott, I really enjoy these videos on the Classics character selection and development. In a future video I would like you mention IF there were plans to add the 200X Sorceress to the line? Her design was so different, and as far as I'm concerned, one of the best redesigns from 2002. I was convinced we were getting a 200X King Hsss vs 200X Sorceress before Classics ended.
We definitely wanted to get to more 200X designs, in fact an entire 200X 6" line was planned but I think the new team nixed it.
Brings to mind King Lionheart from TMNT.
Totally! I forgot about him.
Did Mattel have plans to do Kittrina? I’m glad Super7 finally made her.
She did come up on a lot of lists, but I never worked on anything past 2016. See the 2016 video for more!
Nice! Glad you mentioned Super7's Ultimates! Do you like that Super7 is using the MOTUC buck to kind of continue the legacy of Classics with other properties? Thundercats (heh), Toxie, Conan, TMNT, Disney...it's incredibly awesome and almost like MOTUC never died!
Weird right? That Conan figure using He-Man parts is like re-writing history.

@@spectorcreative1872 I hope they do!
It's more likely to beast from the beauty and the beast movie to me
He does look like that a ton! Ron Perlamn too.
Robin Hood is the best Disney Classic for sure
100%
Carnivus was a King (Called king in Second Skin episode) in the show not a Chief!
True. But his official name was Chief.
Ugh... I want this so bad I can trade off some of my other MOTUC..... :-)
Is he a huge price on the after market?
@@spectorcreative1872 Well, here in Sweden it's kind of hard to get hands on classics, for one. There are a few communities but the more odd characters are unusual. Many go for army building or are bent on collecting ONE character. The after market is quite pricey in general. One seller demanded $170 for a loose Fistor, for example. And I never see Carnivus over here in the aftermarket. I guess it's doable to go on ebay and such, but then there are extra shipping costs and tolls between countries. I've seen him loose for between $50-80 and around $100-120 while boxed. It would be cool if there was a place where you could actually trade figures.
Really loving your channel. Keep it up.
still better than kevin costner's accent.
At least he tried before he didn’t
Lol he is a Furry
Bt is his furry enough?
