    I’m two months into my loc journey. My loctician put my locks in a protective style because I work out 4 times a week. I’ve found that when I use a neck gaiter for a headband it soaks up the sweat and my hair doesn’t frizz. Thank you so much for the information you share! I’ve binge watched all of your videos prior to getting my locs and it’s definitely helped!

    This has been so informative….. I’m 6 months into my sisterlock journey & I twist my hair at night 3 or 4 times a week and was worried doing this would impact the locking process… your video has put my mind @ ease . Thank you 👏🏾👏🏾

    Girl, I'm so glad you started this channel! I'm only 2mths in with small Braidlocs but normally follow advice for microlocs. The braiding/banding really helps on wash day 🤗 Since I'm still pretty new, I don't try a lot of styles. My hair is kinda fine (thanks to years of taking blood pressure meds) and low density but I'm looking forward to any advice you can give me through this journey!

      Yes, definitely do protective styles, especially if you work out. It'll help tame the frizz and prevent unraveling

    So glad you are explaining reasons to protective style, which totally makes sense. I myself am in the starter loc phase. I did my research before taking the leap and getting started. Just like when I became a loose natural there is so much info./ misleading info. Let’s face it there is no one size fits all when it comes to our hair. I have heard protective styling thins the locs. I believe my hair like yours is fine medium density 4b/4c. I do workout consistently. Do you feel protective styling thins locs, or is it more so if done regularly? Would love to hear your thoughts. I’m typing this as I’m watching so please forgive me if you answer my questions once I’ve watched the full video. Just don’t bother answering. I promise I’m watching the full video! I love all the info! Thanks for all you do!☺️

    • @EnToiBeauty
      @EnToiBeauty  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely! There is no one size fits all. There will always be exception to the rule. So do protective styles thin out locs? It depends.It depends on the tension one is using, weight of the style, etc. Protective styles are supposed to protect the hair but somehow we get caught up with the look/esthetics of the style vs the health/care of the hair. So protective styles are safe and does not thin out the locs when done properly. Not too tight. If you feel it pulling or you get bumps around the hairline, it's too tight. Even if it's loose but the positioning and the weight of it can pull the hair (like a big messy bun). Sitting on top of the head is fine but when you tilt your head to the side or down, the weight of the hair starts to pull. So overtime, the weight of the hair/style and tight styling will take its toll and thin it out. Hope that helps.

      @@EnToiBeauty Makes total sense. You are so right, we get sooooo caught up on the look and not the health. What’s sad is there are so many stylist out there that can care less about the health of our crown. A good stylist is so hard to come by. Thank you sooooo much for the prompt reply and answering my question.❤️🙏🏾

    Thanks for a great informative video as usual, Pauline. Can I keep a protective style for 2 weeks (4 French braids) and can I mist it during that period? I also clean with witch hazel. Kindly advice. Thank you from Abuja Nigeria 😁🥰

    I really like your hair on this video! I have been binge watching your videos and I am learning a lot
    I have relaxed hair and in June I will be getting my sisterlocs on 5 inches of hair- I most likely will just cut off the relaxed ends as it’s weak and been breaking the last 7 months.
    My question is what cute protective styles (I work out 5-5 days a week)can be worn on short hair- if that even possible? When starting that shirt is it better just to let it shrink and swell and “get it out the way” and then experience length afterwards? Or would shrinking continue like you mentioned for the next year?

      I've kept my 10 month Sisterlocks in plaits nightly/weekends from beginning. I've had EXCELLENT results here in humid FL....no bunching, shrinking, unraveling, frizzing, or curly ends. It did swell but obviously not as much had it not been kept in bondage for 10 months; no regrets.
      Thanks Pauline 😉

    I have microlocs and wear a “looser” low bun 6-8 hrs a day for work because I’m 7months in with lots of budding and shrinkage and I work in corporate. Soon as I get home I spritz with distilled water so it has a chance to shrink. Is this to much or to long of protective styling? I’m ok if my progress is lengthened I just don’t want to ruin the locs.

    • @EnToiBeauty
      @EnToiBeauty  2 роки тому

      Nope, it's not too much at all. As long the bun isn't tight (pulling on hairline), you're good.

    I’m only 4 1/2 months in. I have two strand twists microlocs. Will braiding my locs into small section of braids every night cause slippage? And my loctition now has me to come every 8 weeks. How often can I wash my hair?

    • @EnToiBeauty
      @EnToiBeauty  2 роки тому

      No, braiding at night will not cause slippage and you can shampoo as often as you need, usually every two weeks.
