Useful video instructions - but it would have been better had you recorded the actual removal.

Agree, take your time with this it can be quite annoying. Although saying that it took me about 20 minutes to do both sides. Great video thumbs up!

Awesome thank you for sharing. I had several issues with these breaking and I had to replace them several times on my passenger side. But on the driver side I also had that weird discoloring from the Sun. I have replaced them both using your instructions. But before I saw your beautiful instructions I tried to do it myself and miserably failed

Please dont follow these instructions, the clips on these part are about as under engineered as you can get for a piece of plastic costing this much money and it wont fit if you snap the clips,it is ment to be a little easier with the roof half open but can be done with just the trunk open although the bottom rear window seal still gets in the way. These part can be repainted to a good as new finish by a good paint shop much cheaper than buying new,if you can remove them without breaking the clips. The best way to remove them is firstly see if you can remove them with just the palm of your hand applying grip force to the part and then applying force in the direction of the trunk, some will just slide downwards like this but get ready to let go as soon as you feel it move, then you can gently push it as far towards the trunk and against the bottom window seal as it will go,this should ensure the clips are clear of the housings on the metal part underneath, now you can gently remove it.If it is a bit more stubborn you can use a trim removal tool that will fit like is shown in this video down and behind the narrow top part of the trim,it is best to use a straight longer piece the same width as the part so it fits into the rubber seal at the top of the part. You can now tab with a small rubber mallet to see if it moves,if it still wont move then you can tap as hard as you need but i suggest if you are tapping it hard,i would get a 2nd pair of hands to push down on the middle of the part, this will stop the part wanting to bow in the middle and protect the clips better and direct the mallet force were you need it most.If you are fitting new then you need to remove any broken clips from the housings underneath should you break any off.I would also take a lot of photos of where the 3m foam is underneath and try to replace it in the same place or you will more than likely get rain water dripping off the roof hinges inside the car.The part underneath unbolts with 5 bolts and can be cleaned up but make a note that you might need to add a little tiger seal or butyl strip in the right place to prevent leaks before bolting it back down.Fitting the new part is a nervous affair till you have done it a few times,it helps if you have hands like shovels because this part needs pressing down along its entire lenght when refitting, other wise get a 2nd pair of hands but make sure you are in control of the upwards motion and they are only there to keep it pressed down while you also press it down at the top and bottom but while pushing up.When you first place the part it must be about 15mm below its final resting place so all clips are fully below the metal clip housings underneath, have a few practice runs for the starting position and you will be able to tell the part is low enough meaning the clips are correct and below the housings, this is not worth doing for the bottom of the trim as it sits on the bottom window seal,so will not go low enough until the actual fitting attempt,if the clips are clear else where then the bottom should be fine. The bottom requires the most pressing force when fitting as the window seal causes the bottom clips to miss the housings,so you will have to apply most controlled force at the bottom of the part, while also slowly pushing up until the part is back in the correct position. It needs to move a mm at a time and if it requires a final tap once you feel all clips are engaing then be very gentle. If you feel its not right then use the removal method and try again,it should sit flush with the rear window along its entire length,if not then either a clip has not engaged the slot or it has snapped off, just use very controlled and gentle force.

Benz repair instructions: AR77.50-P-6763R, installation portion (roof in intermediate position):" Slightly lift the carrier plate in lower area with long wedge and slide C-pillar paneling to carrier plate from bottom until it is completely arrested"
      - Carefully lift carrier plate to prevent damaging the C-pillar top section...
I think doing that will make it easier to slide the panel upwards and get the bottom section seated but what a language and no proper pictures in the instrctions either...

Awful camera work. Buy a tripod or get someone to hold the camera.

Great video, love all the detail! I'm also needing to replace these panels on my 07. Do you have the part number for the right side handy? Thanks

I do not have a part number for the right side, but I'm sure a Benz dealer could look it up for you. You'll have great satisfaction when you change yours out.

Wondering if applying black or carbon fiber vinyl is a viable alternative....

Maybe. Carbon Fiber wrap may look a little too out of place in my opinion.

Where did you get the plastic tools?

You can get tools like that at Harbor Freight, Home Depot, Lowes and maybe your local hardware store.

My god I love the subject and I thank you for your time but could you redo this video and not move the camera so much? I got dizzy trying to follow you. No disrespect intended. Thanks

Does it take MB 2 hours?

If you know what you're doing I think you could do it in less than 30 minutes. If take your time less than an hour. MB 2hrs??
