Crocodiles have short stubby legs. So you cannot outrun them if you run in a straight line, however their short legs make it difficult for them to manoeuvre around turns. So if you ran in a zig-zag path, you'd confuse it and would be able to escape
That's fucking awesome. I've worked with wild and domestic animals my entire life and this just shows how almost any animal can be a good companion if it's raised by a person at a very young age and you earn it's trust and show it love.

Cuban Crocs are actually really cool! They’re the only crocodilians to move in a gallop and can actually go pretty fast! Also they’re terrestrial and rarely go in water unlike their cousins
Also Crazy enough, I found fascinating footage of a Cuban crocodile performing a partial rotary gallop, tho the footage is lower quality and quite short it’s quite cool to see. The number of times I've watched this video is insane!! The croc looks so so adorable galloping like that. It also has such a happy expression on its face like it's so happy to meet its owner 😄
This must make the mailman regretful for complaining about that Terrier. I imagine as he approaches Chiquita' s yard he gets nostalgic about the German Shepherd that nipped at his bottom that one time. He hopes the cat that would scratch at his hand through the mail slot is doing well. That old route was the best. Yep, those were the salad days.
Top speed on land is only about 10 to 12mph at best, for crocodilians. Even if we’re mixing up kilometers per hour with miles per hour (which is what most TV shows have done for decades) it still wouldn’t be 30kph, but closer to 18 or 20kph, but not 20 mph until we’re talking about their swimming speed.
The Critically Endangered Cuban Crocodile is the most terrestrial of all extant crocodilians, having remarkably well developed limbs when compared to the other species of the same order. Unlike other Crocodilians, Cuban Crocs are known to pursue prey well beyond the water’s edge, chasing unlucky animals at considerable speed and for some distance across land. While _Crocodylus rhombifer_ rarely exceeds 3 Meters, its special adaptation for leaping and running makes it particularly dangerous to manage in captivity.
J̅o̅h̅n̅n̅y̅ F̅a̅v̅o̅r̅i̅t̅e̅ Well said, but It’s very important to add that In captivity however, they only remain more dangerous at facilities that undervalue or ignore their intelligence and do nothing in the realm of training with their rhombifers. After training and bridging the communication gap between animal/group and keeper, that danger element can nearly vanish in most cases. It literally becomes a working relationship that can be as safe if not safer than other workplace environments.
That is amazing. I have never seen a croc move like that on land. Most crocs are rather ungainly and clumsy outside of the water. This thing moves like a terrestrial animal, not an aquatic one. It's so sad we have almost completely wiped them out. Cuban crocodiles are so unique and interesting. They say they also display pack behavior and are perhaps the most intelligent of all crocodiles.
I've actually seen the teamwork firsthand! Many years ago at a park I used to work at, I'll never forget, in a group of 5 animals, the male kept the preys attention while the alpha female and the subordinate females hid and surrounded the prey (making a gauntlet, cutting off any exits so the prey had to go between any two crocs to escape) moments later they all rushed in, 3 in full gallop. I WAS THE PREY, and cleaning their pool. My only exit was an 8 foot rock wall waterfall that apparently I can climb like Spiderman! The really scary but exciting thing was, after that day there was always one croc that would climb the rocks and hide in the waterfall pool on cleaning day every time. Talk about a learning curve and learning from their mistakes hahaha
holy crap, dude. what a story! I meam that is absolutely amazing. Forget those (inaccurate anyway) freaking velociraptors in Jurassic Park... Cuban crocodiles are the 'clever girl'
Crocodilians are generally more like dinosaurs than any other kind of lizard, and were at one point actually built for terrestrial life. It would be reasonable that galloping or mammal-like behavior such as this could be exhibited in at least one modern representative.
That’s because TV demonizes everything cool in nature because the ratings are better with fear, carnage, and drama. The truth of reality is boring apparently, at least to TV networks and producers.
@Janx NoLoveTV hahaha gladly, but in the meantime you can check out any or all of the videos I’ve uploaded in the 5+ years since this one, which already show both of my hands in most of them lol (hint, hint) 🤔😏🤣
It's already impressive enough as it is to tame a croc and earn it's affection. But then being able to train him/her on command to come to you on que is on another entire level. This clip (short as it is) was very satisfying to see.
Apparently these things are smart and never stop growing. I've seen people use hand signals to command alligators in a farm. They keep them all full and that makes them not feel like killing you I guess...

jayjay86443 correct. Kaprosuchus and Araripesuchus were some of the prehistoric crocs that could gallop. Most crocodilians at that time where dinosaur killers and came in all shapes and sizes.
It's important to note that, while crocodilians are fast and powerful, they build up lactic acid WAY faster than humans. Crocodiles have short stubby legs. So you cannot outrun them if you run in a straight line, however their short legs make it difficult for them to manoeuvre around turns. So if you ran in a zig-zag path, you'd confuse it and would be able to escape

The croc:
The person that says a crocodile is slow is 100% trying to kill you.
they can easily outrun a human in a short brust, but they can't sustain that speed for long, so it all comes to your dodging reflex
To be fair it's probably the heat or lack there of that makes them slow.
And I think they can only do that when they're young and not 1 ton monsters.
@@whyme224 crocs can move very fast in short bursts even when they are huge.

That speed is horrifying!
Imagine this dog runs at y'all
@Rike no you cant, they can go up to 30 mph on land
@Rike actually they can only do that speed for a short burst so you can outrun them
Top speed on land is only about 10 to 12mph at best, for crocodilians. Even if we’re mixing up kilometers per hour with miles per hour (which is what most TV shows have done for decades) it still wouldn’t be 30kph, but closer to 18 or 20kph, but not 20 mph until we’re talking about their swimming speed.
I found it not so fast at least for a fit human
That's a government propaganda, we all know they're Water doggos.
They're the only series of croc that can jump and lift their entire body off the ground
@Andrew Crowley YEAH same reaction lol this thought is freaking terrifying
Nathan Sweeting does Cuba’s industrialization have anything to do with their decline?
You're lucky you HAD an escape route. lol
holy crap, dude. what a story!
It would be reasonable that galloping or mammal-like behavior such as this could be exhibited in at least one modern representative.
crocodiles are reptiles.
Crocodiles in documentaries: dangerous, merciless creatures that everyone is afraid of.
Crocodiles on UA-cam:
That’s because TV demonizes everything cool in nature because the ratings are better with fear, carnage, and drama. The truth of reality is boring apparently, at least to TV networks and producers.
