We just got back to the UK from Florida, thoughts are with all the wonderful people there who make our vacations so magical, their families, their friends, and everyone else in the state. Please take care and look after yourselves now! I really will be keeping my fingers crossed that this does not turn out as bad as it looks.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you had a magical vacation! Whenever we're at Disney, it's such a joy having people visiting from the UK. You all are very polite and lovely people. My Dad and late grandmother are originally from England, so I have family still living there.
I was 7 months pregnant with my first child when hurricane harvey hit and I lost everything. It felt like the rain would never stop, and it was the most awful feeling being flooded and trapped. You cannot get in or out and no one is coming to save you, so please leave early and you can always go back. Everything is replaceable but people and animals are not. Take all of your important documents and some pictures if possible and put them in a plastic bin in case they still get wet. Expect no power for 1-2 weeks. We were doing quick rinsing off and I just remember feeling so gross without power. Just help each other and take it serious. Get chargers, phones, laptops, tablets, flashlights, clothes blankets and pillows. Sleep in your car if you have to and don’t forget your animals. Praying for you all! Try to fill up on gas and stay full. Hopefully you all have food and water. I have a terrible feeling about this storm. 🙏🏽💙💙💙
As a New Orleanean, I am WELL aware of what the Floridians are about to deal with. Speaking from EXPERIENCE (Katrina), if you are in an area that is even "recommended" to evacuate, pack your bags with clothing for at least a week, bring any insurance info, important papers (marriage, birth, death certificates), family photos, and any other irreplaceable items with you. Bring your pets, don't leave them behind. Remember to bring phone, tablets, computer chargers, etc. Even if you can't find a hotel, leave anyway. You can always sleep in your car at a state patrolled rest area with security if necessary (I did for two nights until I found a hotel). The important thing to remember is if you lose your house, you can rebuild or get another one. You can't get another life. I pray for all of your safety.

Florida has been there before, it’s scary yes but that’s what comes from living in a hurricane zone. Tbh these days there’s no safe place on earth. If it’s not hurricanes, it’s earthquakes…if not it’s a blizzard or a heatwave. This rock has been having wild weather patterns these last few years no doubt.
The front that knocks it down to a 1, ..is going to make it a slow mover... Can't win with this one, .. the longest power outage we ever had was a rain dumper with TS winds.. took down the trees by soaking the ground, which then took out power lines.

Prayers won’t stop a hurricane. Maybe instead of simply making yourself feel better by praying, you can get busy looking up ways you can give and support in the aftermath of the storm. That’s called horizontal morality, where we actually care about all fellow humans no matter what. Praying and doing nothing else to help? That’s called vertical morality, an you shouldn’t do that.
You got your Luck already when the eyeball decided to stay west. I'm in Broward- all we will get are some violent thunderstorms & a lot of rain. Just don't drive into flooded roadways, or go to parking lots that get a lot of water flooding them. No biggie.
To all the new Yorkers and other blue state refugees, welcome to Florida life. I'm sorry it had to be such a big storm though. I feel bad for all in its path. Having survived Ivan and Sally I know the pain of a cat 3 storm.
@@timboc105 what? Think NY is only northern state that goes to FL? My Ohio parents wintered in Del Ray for 30 years, owning a condo. And northerners have been going to Florida for many many years. They are residents, pay taxes and support the economy. Since they’re better off, they spend a whole lot of money down there. Don’t act like they’re leeches. Geez, get over DeSantis attitude.
Good Choice, hope you put any outside stuff; inside. And buttoned up the place tight, & took your pets, & theirstuff, including their vet/rabies vax records, I forgot Vax tags, records for my dog once, & had to get him faxed again before we could get a place to stay! (Hurricane Wilma)
Lessons from Hurricane Michael, 2018 If you evacuate, it will be 3 to 7 days before the authorities will let you back in. If you stay, there may be no electricity or running water for several weeks. I rode the storm out in a shelter. Safe during the storm, but electricity and restroom facilities failed within 3 hours. Then it took 2 hours to go the 7 miles back home, and almost couldn’t make it due to road conditions. Cell phone service may be disrupted, and you’re going to want to be able to contact family outside the area. A “You loot, we shoot” sign may be the closest thing to police protection you’re going to have for a few days. If you stay, and get sick or injured, not only may you be unable to go to the ER, you may not be able to let anybody know you need help,or help may not be able to get to you for a few hours. If you try to drive anywhere, what used to be a 30 minute trip will take 3hours. Roadways may be littered with trees, building debris, downed power lines, etc. If you get a flat tire from a nail, you have one spare tire. Get another flat and your car is out of business. Until stores reopen, anything you consume (food, batteries, gas) in the first week cannot be easily replaced. Relief workers from out of area will show up within 36 hours and provide water, ice, MREs, etc. Don’t sign AOBs. Garage doors are a common first point of structural failure. It goes, then the wind chews away at whatever new edges become exposed. You don’t want to be there when that’s happening. That’s what I remember offhand from Hurricane Mike. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.
This may be a historic storm, let's hope the cold front diminishes some of its impact. That said, after seeing some of the videos of what Fiona's storm surge and waves did last week in Atlantic Canada, you don't want to mess around if they issue mandetory evacuations in FLA.
Remember that florida is built to handle these though. The coast is in danger of the winds, but the floodwater isn’t as bad here usually because the roads have lots of drainage areas. Florida is built to withstand heavy storms, we just need to pray to GOD to allow our protections to work.
category 5 ! 250 mile winds ! a 50 foot storm surge ! 278 tornadoes ! Thousands of dead and missing ! That is what the weather service says so they can sell more ads . get to high ground and hunker down this baby cane will pass over you soon enough .
@@resentfuldragon True but keep in mind, the combination of storm surge, high tide and storm waves resulted in 14m waves during Fiona - 14m equals 44 ft. Let's hope Florida's building standards aren't tested by such waves during Ian I was listening to a lady in Newfoundland who didnt bother to evacuate as her home was built on a cliff 30ft above the high tide level. She was on the 2nd fl of her home and waves started to hit her bedroom windows. She got out of there real fast!

if you look at where Fort Meade is it looks to be showing the west side bow of the storm there so does this mean it possibly is coming in further to the South of Tampa?
Where to go? Pasco county can’t evacuate to Tampa, and Tampa can’t evacuate to Pasco county. There’s no way to escape or to “evacuate” where should we go?
@@marytygett4189 There’s nothing to be convinced about. God, in the way you believe in God, doesn’t exist. I like how they don't talk AT ALL about Saint Petersburg (where I live). But yeah let's worry about Orlando and not the place that's going to get hit the hardest.
This video you are commenting on is from an Orlando news channel. Duh! Of course, this Orlando news meteorologist is going to talk about Orlando. Go watch your local news channels and stations!
They should talk about every area that is in the cone, it’s very irritating to not even hear them say anything bout the city you live in but they talking about other areas that are not in Orlando. Makes you wonder
Where are you getting that weather radar from fox 35..... Fox 4 Ft. Myers is say just north of Port Charlotte Charlotte Co. or Venice, FL southern Sarasota Co. What are you talking about Tampa ?
Good luck FL I’m not the pope so I don’t bless I have no special powers and nothing will listen so I don’t pray But I’ll be thinking about it And I hope you do ok
All the newbies to FL must be very nervous. Seasoned Floridians will know what to do. Stay safe folks. The coast gets the worst of it, and then as it goes inland it becomes a rain storm event. The power outage is one of the worst after effect. And the road flooding.
What about pinellas County could you please give details about weather impacts in the area of Clearwater/st.petersburg cause the hurricane is headed toward where I live and I live in a mobile home and I need to know if I need to evacuate. It seems like the storm is gonna be alot more worse than I thought. P.S. I am worried about loosing my home and you guys are leaving out the most important County cause it might be a little south of where I am but it looks like the eye of the storm will probably come really close to where I live and I'm not sure whether I should evacuate and go further north. Could let me know sometime by today so it gives me a chance to leave before the storm gets here. I'm a very stubborn person and I will probably ending up loosing my life in this storm if I don't get told that the area that I live in is under extreme damage. My dog will probably end up dying and my mom and my mom's dog will probably end up loosing there lives in this storm cause you forgot to mention how this storm is gonna impact North st.petersburg/Largo.
You need to be running now, not waiting!! Your life is more important!! Get your animals, important papers, medications and start packing!! May God richly bless you and All Floridians!
Hurry & get OUT! No mobile home is safe in a hurricane, especially not one coming on you from the west with these winds & embedded tornadoes! Put canned tuna, veggies & fruit, anything you can eat without cooking it if needed, A MANUAL CAN OPENER, medical stuff, your usual headache remedy- low pressure almost guarantees headaches- & all that your other reply-er listed in your vehicle & go! Seek higher ground inland. Take your pillow, you will be glad you did! You can add an extra layer of protection for yourself with ownership & insurance records, contact info, photos, medical records for you & your pets if any, in gallon ziplock bags- freezer ones are the sturdiest. I always take my favorite pot & lid, a serving/stirring spoon, & my mug, too. Stay safe out there!

Can't win with this one,
.. the longest power outage we ever had was a rain dumper with TS winds.. took down the trees by soaking the ground, which then took out power lines.
The winds are bad for sure, but the flooding is worse…
I was in Houston for Allison. That witch of a TS was awful
This storm looks like it will be traveling up the east coast. Praying for safety for everyone in the path of this storm.

@@timboc105 what? Think NY is only northern state that goes to FL? My Ohio parents wintered in Del Ray for 30 years, owning a condo. And northerners have been going to Florida for many many years.
Lessons from Hurricane Michael, 2018
If you evacuate, it will be 3 to 7 days before the authorities will let you back in.
Good luck.
Godspeed Ian!
I hope it takes Florida off the map.
I should’ve been a weatherman… just keep guessing until you’re right or wrong…
This may be a historic storm, let's hope the cold front diminishes some of its impact. That said, after seeing some of the videos of what Fiona's storm surge and waves did last week in Atlantic Canada, you don't want to mess around if they issue mandetory evacuations in FLA.
Truth spoken
Let's hope Florida's building standards aren't tested by such waves during Ian
I was listening to a lady in Newfoundland who didnt bother to evacuate as her home was built on a cliff 30ft above the high tide level. She was on the 2nd fl of her home and waves started to hit her bedroom windows. She got out of there real fast!
Hi, if you are not saved, and would like to be included in the rapture of the church. Believe that Jesus's death on the cross, was enough to pay for ALL your sins , yes ALL ,(past, present and future) That is what the Gospel is about.
Seek higher ground inland. Take your pillow, you will be glad you did! You can add an extra layer of protection for yourself with ownership & insurance records, contact info, photos, medical records for you & your pets if any, in gallon ziplock bags- freezer ones are the sturdiest.
