@jeremy manchur If you enjoyed 'Smallville,' that's your deal, but it was an objectively bad show with terrible dialogue, disposable storylines riddled with holes, inconsistent characters that fluxed in and out to serve the story of the week and too frequent use of plot-convenient amnesia. It bites every day of the week and twice on Sundays, and the rest of this CW trashverse is in much the same vein, except with the addition of bluetooth pep talks and even more nauseating romance B-plots (how many times do we have to listen to Borey Allen, the Blandest Man Alive, tell Iris she's the reason he's a superhero? You know what? I also didn’t like Clark’s fate in the crisis. I felt like this should’ve been something where Clark could’ve been Superman, but this whole crisis thing would’ve been his first like BIG JOB where he has to step up to the plate and be more than the savior of earth, but the universe-hell. The multiverse. Lois could’ve been supporting him telling him he can do it and all that though Clark doesn’t believe he can do it initially but in the end is able to stand proud alongside the “Superman Returns” Superman and the “Supergirl” Superman. I mean, why not? He’d essentially be continuing his arc as Superman considering that he’d be saving people from other dimensions.

Simple, they refused to let him be superman, AND they continued calling it Smallville even after he moved to Metropolis.

I don't need to watch this to tell you... It built itself around a few main premises. Pillars. The Kent family, The Luthors, and Clark's love life. Jonathan dies, Martha slowly fades into the background as Clark grows up. Lex turns from friend to nemesis--a good story arc, but it had to end at some point... particularly when Michael Rosenbaum left the series around the same time Kristin Kreuk left. And she was the other pillar.
Love it or hate it, a major aspect of the show was that Clark Kent, without a doubt, unashamedly is in love with one girl: Lana Lang. He never had any room in his heart for other serious long-term love interest. Alicia was that one time when he was upset about not being with Lana and generally not thinking straight (+Red K), then I think there was a chick named Kyla who liked him and told him about his destiny before she died or something but he was only mildly interested IIRC, then Chloe was never even a blip on his radar even if she pined after him sometimes, and of course he showed zero attraction to Chloe's infamous cousin.... But he gets amnesia and falls in love the moment he sees Lana walking across the room because his heart remembers. And Lana was written in such a way that no matter how often he hurt her, she saw the good in him and couldn't help but love him. The writers wove them into the fabric of the show as the main couple, then refused to let them stay together for too long, constantly ripped them apart, tried to play the will they/won't they too long. And in doing so made Clark be supremely hurtful to Lana and pushed Lana towards the darkside.
After that they constantly wrote Lana, a survivor of emotional abuse and multiple traumas, into an unsympathetic character (but I refuse to hate her, Lana Lang is AMAZING).... until they could get rid of her and insinuate that Clark, who fundamentally was written to love Lana for 7.5 seasons, can now suddenly forget and move on with that annoying stray woman that his parents adopted in season 4 because she happened to be Chloe's cousin and had nothing better to do than to invade smallville with constant annoying quips and antics. Ahem. Anyway.
TL;DR: Smallville ended around season 7/8 when the Kents were gone, Lex, was gone, and Lana was gone. That is all.

What are your thoughts on the last 3 seasons?

@@tornadochaser2457 To be honest, I stopped watching after Requiem because there was almost no reason to keep watching. Especially since I knew about the "no flights, no tights" rule and Smallville was turning into Metropolis. I had lost a lot of my love for Clark over the years, I actively disdained lois, and I wasn't gonna watch show for... idk Chloe? Nah. The show lost the core dynamics that I loved.

I don't mind the "Krypto-infected of the week" during the first couple of seasons because it doesn't make sense for Clark to learn to hone his abilities in a fight if the enemy is not somewhat equally matched. I also enjoyed Clark learning about his heritage and having to be careful with whom he discusses it. There's so much going on in this show and I love every moment of it.

There is something about superman and the moral values they can still follow in his shows. Rebels can watch other shows. Everyone has a small bit within themselves that wishes the values their family instilled be shown in shows nowadays besides being an outcast, ill tempered, rule breaker of a success. Smallville was one of the last shows that could still carry those.
