conversion of Berth 9 as Container Terminal

Works underway in full swing for the conversion of Berth-9 as Port’s 3rd Container Terminal with a capacity of 6 lakh TEUs. The Tuticorin International Container Terminal will be operated by JM Baxi group is expected to be operational before the scheduled commissioning in January 2025

The Port already has a capacity to handle 1 Million TEUs of containers. With the Conversion of Berth No.9 as container Terminal , the capacity addition will be 6 Lakh TEUs and will be among the top 5 Major Ports of India in container handling. The Port will be the Transshipment hub of East Coast of India on implementation of the Outer Harbour Project.
