Hello my loves, are you a procrastinator like me? Do you often find yourself rushing at the last minute before an impending deadline? Well you’ve stumbled across the right video for you! In this video, I will talk about how I finished this oil painting for an upcoming gallery show in just four days using only one main layer. Oil painting sometimes gets a bad rap for taking too long to dry, resulting in a slow process that can be stressful if you have a tight deadline or if you’re just eager to make progress on your painting but have to force yourself to wait around for the most recent layer to dry. But with the right preparation and technique, oil painting doesn’t always have to be slow. Today I will share my tips on how to paint fast and I hope you find it useful!

I honestly never knew there was any other way then the wet on wet method. Every oil painter I ever met would hyperventilate if their oil painting was drying.

Love your amazing advice, I'm still working up the courage to start oil painting after listening to your tips and recommendations...I think I'm ready to jump in. Creating my concept on photo shop sounds quite helpful ✨️ thank you for your fantastic advice and your painting is absolutely gorgeous as always.

I really wish I could do this, but I just can’t visualize/paint “directly” like this in color; I pretty much have to use layers when painting in color, as that is what allows me to paint something like that in the first place! How are you able to work like that? Amazing work!

You can find images you like that have color schemes you want to use. There are virtual color mixing apps where you select any color in an image you upload and it will show you what colors to mix to get that color.

I can't do this as well. I can't pre plan a painting. I lean more towards impressionist painting.

Oh my goodness! I think I'm going to give oil paints a go! I love this method....doesn't seem as daunting as waiting days for layers to dry! I like the 'colouring book' approach!! Thank you!! :-) Beautiful work xxx

Something I am loving about your videos is how much change your artwork is making! You don’t paint the same thing over and over again, and while it helps you grow as an artist it also keeps your videos fresh and interesting! Thanks Happy!

This is what some people call printer style? because you advance little by little in a completed kind of way, like printers do. I don't know how to do this because I wouldn't be able to mix the same tones for each segment and make it all match perfectly.
It does have the advantage of not having that super ugly stage where everything looks messy since you complete little parts and it looks good from the beginning haha

I actually LOVE oils BECAUSE they take so long to dry, I find it gives me more time to work with the shading and blend it well, that and it's just so nice and smooth when you want it to be. I still have the first oil painting I did back in high school, which was about 16 or 17 years ago; it's terrible but I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. Anywho I can't wait to see the finished product of this, I think it's just so pretty the petals look so nice and delicate and the face works very well with them.

Hi! maybe you can help me? Do you think it would be ok to mix Gamblin solvent free fluid with bleached linseed oil? I find the Gamblin fluid very thick.

Really cool! I’ve seen a lot of people using the window washing method you mentioned but I’ve never known the name for it. It’s nice to put a name to the technique!

To the best of my knowledge, Rublev Oleogel is just linseed oil mixed with fumed silica....so adding linseed oil isn't introducing a new ingredient, it's just increasing the ratio of linseed oil to silica, making the gel flow more.

I exactly do this method for years before I found this video and I can only agree with it...👌🏻😅❤️ But it's little bit crazy because there is no much space for making mistakes.😄

[Edit: I was reading an oil painting book I got at a thrift store, by JM Parramon and one of the solvent/mediums he mentions is a combination of turpentine and linseed oil. He described it as which is more in the mixture depends on what you need ie longer dry time or shorter. I immediately thought of this when you mentioned mixing gel and linseed oil.
It's a good book, though I haven't gotten the chance to test out the tutorials just yet.
I haven't heard of the gel you mentioned before so I've now started a list of techniques and mediums/paints I need to try when I get time to sit and practice.]
I can't visualize at all, like someone mentioned not being able to visualize color, so I'd have to have the whole reference colored and ready as if it was the finished piece.
I do this already with most of my pieces for my own sanity, though I'm still practicing cutting the layers down. I still range from at least 2 or more for acrylic though I haven't actually had the chance for a full oil painting yet.
My color mixing also isn't quite up to snuff yet so I have some more practice to go before I go for a full oil painting

Thank you for sharing this information and your video. I wonder, how do you feel about the art you have put up in the internet after going through art school? I remember in a video you once expressed how you felt about making hair more detailed, and I can only imagine it was like going through that again and again.
