i really love the touch of using frankie stew & harvey gunn instrumentals as the background music ‘cause they’re from brighton too. really insightful interview.
i love how she brought up digital and how people want you to edit pictures their way but with film you get what the camera captures. spot on. no more filters on my pictures please.
I don’t think that’s what she meant. She meant that others will see the photo she just took on-location and ask her to take it a different way, with a different angle etc. Btw films *are* ‘filters’ - different films have different looks, which is the same as editing digital in Photoshop. If film didn’t have these looks, all photos would look natural (like documentaries) and boring
A very interesting and introspective young lady, and an obviously very talented photographer. Her portraits are striking and doing everything portraits are intended to do. Even an old hand as myself can find inspiration here.
Congratulations, George. I wish that others who interview do what you did: let the subject talk. I did learn, quite a lot I think, by seeing Rosie's photographs. Thank you.
Really agree with the digital/analog work - I've been working in both fields and whenever it's digital there's always this embedded control that the client has over the photography- whereas when shooting film you truly hold all the power, which really lets your photography thrive. Great video as always and hats off to Rosie!!!
Had coffee with Rosie last year as I kinda crossed paths with her when shooting an artist who has now done pretty well. She is just a great human being and her work is incredible.
Rosie, Congratulations keep up the great work, Mamiya RB/RZ is a great camera' used them back in the 70's though late 90's then I had to go digital but I still use them for my personal work. Cheers
This was the best film/interview about photography I've seen for a long time. Please more! And I started looking for her photos, such a great portraits.
I'm not sure which outdated system you're using, but I can see and listen to the video as I simultaneously type my comment (during the Squarespace ad haha).
I don't think you understood my comment hahah. I was watching a different video, and as soon as I saw the notification that NegativeFeedback uploaded a video, I clicked away from that video to watch this one.

i really love the touch of using frankie stew & harvey gunn instrumentals as the background music ‘cause they’re from brighton too. really insightful interview.

Her attitude towards and her connection to photography is breathtaking!!
i love how she brought up digital and how people want you to edit pictures their way but with film you get what the camera captures. spot on. no more filters on my pictures please.
