I'm applauding the bold choice of leaving that sneeze in the edit.
"Colour is important, in colour photos" - Tim Palman, 2017
(great video and I love your work Tim, just couldn't let this one slide ahaha!)
It really is. He is actually pretty good at noticing colour juxtapostion and harmony.
Even if you don't like photography the feeling in these videos are the best thing. Proper mood lifters.
Certainly
soz 4 loud wind + bad audio, we have learned for next time that the beach is windy
absolutely loving the content man! youve taught me so much about film so thank you :) keep it coming
Beaches are windy??? Water is wet??? (only joking, lovely episode guys!)
3:43 the old lady is like the perfect subject for that beige container and she has blue shorts on too, matching with the sky :OO
you're SPOT ON, dude.
Sucha waste taking that frame on the guitar man. But, what can you do? we all miss good shots...
A. the colorspace of this video is gorgeous
B. Tim is the man 👌👌
C. the photos are fantastic
Jared Tennant ❤️
Been wanting to make portraits of people in the nursing home in the area for a while now and Tims words in the beginning gave me confidence.
Tim sure is really good at handling people on the street. Nice stuff!
Bless you George
i remember at uni we had past students come in and tell us what they had learnt since leaving, and they pretty much all agreed you should take advantage of the 'student' status, because people are a lot more patient and willing to be in your photos, the great thing is we are ALL students :P
Diane Arbus always told people that she was learning.
Watching George work with his subjects was fun and instructive for me. And encouraging. Thank you.
That was an awesome insight to how Tim approaches strangers and then directs them. Keep the good stuff coming!
Love and support goes out as always!! Thanks for giving us great insight and content every week George..
Stella photos, Tim! Especially the one of the gentleman playing guitar at the beach. nice work. Great video, George.
I love how Tim changes the tempo of how he speaks at the end to match George haha. Awesome video!
it’s great to see someone from Perth out in the world and doing stuff, someone’s gotta put this lil city on the map 🙌🏼 👊🏼
Really nice street portraits Tim!
I'm still laughing at the parody Matt Day made about George LOL
same hahahah
where?
check Matt Day's video titled "UA-cam & The Wonderful World of Comments"
Hi
it was beautiful man!
What a beautiful skill , I wish I could take photos as good as that , I’m improving , the thrill of taking photos along with the end results you get back from the film , it’s a beautiful process , I only have a classic Minolta x700 but it’s such a joyful process..
This was so helpful!!!
Also I'd love to see a video with your favorite 35 and 120 cameras and the difference you value between them.
the picture of the man with the guitar and the old couple were my absolute favs
Well, Tim is a great photographer !
Nice meeting you guys at the LA Meetup, stoked on what you guys are doing.
Brilliant video! maybe i'll give street portraiture a go sometime!
something really soothing about this video and I can't really understand why.
I recently found your channel and I'm already in love with it!
TIMBO IS A BEAST behind the lens
He has a nice approach with people. I was half-expecting him to ninja his way up to someone then jam his camera in their face. Nice change of pace from what you see from some people on YT.
The3Natural hahaha thanks!
This is very aesthetic and so lovely!
Great video man. You guys make film Photography look good. Great mood and inspiring as always ✌
Really inspiring video, thanks for this guys!
Man I really excited for more videos when you in America!
Tim is so awesome!
Those were awesome I really like the man with the milk
David Rothschild him and the guy with the dog were the most interesting imo
The guy with the dog is soooo good
Absolutely love the first one of the guy with the dog!
❤️🍼
I feel like going out and shooting some medium format now. I hardly ever shoot portraits though.
That's the thing about NF, whenever I watch their videos I feel like going out to shoot
FACT
Same I always feel so inspired by their videos
Shooting portraits is lots of fun, you meet a lot of interesting people, and you start to feel like Benoit Paille
I love videos like this! Keep this up!
Nice guys! This is one of my favs :)
great video as always!! love it
Great work as always! Thank you.
Hey guys, great job! What lenses you were using with A7s when filming this?
how many people did you come across that didn't want their photo taken?
great shots!!!
Hi. What called the music starting from 2:07 ? Really relaxing and beautiful. Thanks.
What camera is being used here? Cool video guys!
Could you make a video on how you edit your work?
Tim was using the Pentax 67?
Hi! what kind of roll did you use? Kodak Portra 400 or something like that? Colors were amazing!
Is the '3.. 2.. 1..' a prerequisite for being in these videos?
I started counting because of them! It changed my life😂
lifghasewda I blame george
I've actually adopted this method when shooting portraits. I think it helps my subjects hold in that all important blink!
Especially with film, you only find out later that they blinked!
If you don't mind sharing, what is your color workflow/lut for the video? Thanks in advance :)
Thanks from Brazil
I love this !
whats the name of the song at 4:07
I'd say everyone nice to ask for photo there. Great tips guys ❤️
Notification Squaaaaad!
Hey guys love the content. Question though: How do you get these instrumental versions of FS&HG? Checking their soundcloud I can't find them.
Has he done a review on the Konica Minolta maxxum 7000??
Does he do the exposures by eye or does the camera have a lightmeter?
I was just wondering what type of film Tim was shooting with?
Wich film was used? Portra?
Do you give away a business card to give people the opportunity to see their photo online?
Bless you
Got one question for you guys, how many times do you get rejected from the "models" you choose ?
antoine dbf I think only two people said no when we shot this. That said, you become good at recognising when people will say no and you just don't ask.
hello there! do you mind making a review on Zorki 6? i need YOUR opinion on it, i can only trust you in this platform. thanks!
What film was used? Thanks :)
it must have been painful using the original Pentax 67. I remember using one just like that and I got hand cramps like no tomarrow. Even Matt Day made a review saying how absurd it was for Pentax to not make a right-hand grip for a camera that big. Then again. The 67ii is wayy too expensive
This is great.
Where was this recorded, what location?
Second time's the charm!
Yo you shooting with a Pentax 67?
GattaoraStudios yup
GattaoraStudios What film stock Tim? Looks like some type of Fujifilm
Alex Rodriguez yup! Fuji pro 400h
sup robin
can i ask what lens? amazing shallow depth of field!
what strap is George using?
As photographers, we know what it is we want to capture in a photo but doesn't it sound strange when we have to explain why we took a certain photo? "The milk container had a red cap and there was a red sign behind him."
Tim should bring a polaroid with him so he could give an instant souvenir to the strangers he's photographing.....
Abigail Rosales imagine the cost though!
Tim Palman every once in a while? maybe?...
what i don't like in asking people to pose for street photography, is that the beauty and sharpness of the instant you were trying to capture (sadly) breaks down when you ask the person to pose - because it creates an uncomfortable moment for them.
whereas keeping the camera and the photographer invisible when taking a shot allows you to get closer to what the subject really is (to my sense), because theres no weird human interaction before
v iolette I disagree, I think that photographing someone without their permission is quite voyeuristic in a way, where as when you interact with a subject you're able to create an engagement with the camera and photographer which comes through in the image
v iolette that said, I don't consider my work "Street Photography" but documentary photography. I'm not making work in the same genre as Cartier Bresson or Elliot Irwit
Were those Pentax 67ii?
inyojelly nope, the original Pentax 67 :)
Ayyy, the OG 67. I'm saving up for a 67ii once I get better at photography because I love the look of medium format and the Pentax stuff is more affordable
i really wanna try this kind of photography, but im too beta and shy cant speak normally with random people :(
Mahmud Samsul well damn lol. Gotta build that confidence i guess.
Mahmud Samsul same. One day I will eventually get there as I really would like to have people as subjects in photos.
It’s easier with a friend
whats tims camera?
witch camera does he use please ?
The photographer is using a Pentax 6X7 with a what I presume to be the 105mm f/2.4 lens
what film was used by tim?
1OnionHead1 Fuji pro 400h
Hahaha the outro!! 😂
Where was this filmed?
Dave Scaringe looks like Venice Beach
Was he shooting pro400H?
Nikolas Barrera yup!
I'm not very knowledgeable about film photography yet. Can someone tell me why a lot of film is super grainy but his shots look super clean and sharp, almost dslr like?
Maybe I shouldn't say dslr like but how is there so little grain? Is it the film he's using? The camera?
Grainy shots can result from a number of different factors. Such as pushing the film, which means to shoot the film at a higher iso than it is rated and then adjusting the development time to compensate. It can also be achieved by shooting older film that is past its "use by" date. His stuff is pretty creamy and smooth because he is A)using a medium format camera with 6x7cm negatives and B)he is probably shooting with a low iso film, like a 100iso.
Sick
This is exactly what I wanna be doing
George hates eye contact
how to colour grading
For real though as much as I love your videos, when are you gonna feature a female photographer?
Will Ulrich this would be sooo nice to see! Maybe he doesn't have female photographer friends? I'm just learning my way around analog photography, sometimes I do feel intimidated that I don't see many women out there doing the same thing.
Lydia Clara i feel like women could also bring a different point of view as far as subject matter, I hope there are some ladies out there shooting something meaningful and interesting and just as high quality as the men featured on this show.
It's interesting, I see more women in analog photography communities nowadays (as opposed to digital photography ones-I'm guessing due to the overly technical nature, which always attracts and accepts less women), so it's even easier!
Here are some fantastic female photographers from where I live (Auckland) who are shooting mostly analog if you are interested :)

Make branded t-shirts! Thumbs up!
i love your videos!!! Other point of view necessary on youtube ;)
ayy
i lile those photos you take when you just snap someone on the street
the ADRIAN BLISS ending
They look smacked in the last 2 minutes lmao
👌🏽👌🏽
Yummy la goodness
Because there’s nothin more “cliche “ then asking strangers in another country to be “captured” by the camera, no different then. The animals feel on a photo safari.... if you went to school, you would have heard this by now .... but in the era of imitation, with no consequences, I get to imitate someone who cares about the medium, and somehow takes it a bit more seriously, then “captured” pictures of natives ....”oh, how strange, someone had a jug of milk and I used the red cap as my prop” sadly I watch , and hope for hope again ....
looking forward to more videos in the states! btw check out my instagram @dityaip, i shoot film too! :D
this czech flag shirt hahah
I like these videos but they have seemed to hit a predictable cycle. Every episode seems the same. Ill still watch but not with the same enjoyment as in the beginning.
How original. Shooting people in the middle of the frame with a shallow Dof. How boring. This is not street photography. Rookies.
Palman does not pay attention on what is in- and outside the frame. Always something distracting near the borders.
